  1. The first 5 gallons have worked out great! I'm still using both MF and Calhoun, but I can save a little $$$ along the way. Chris
  2. Hey Mercury, What do you guys normally use to catch those flatheads?? Cats and Crappie are about the only freshwater fish I'll keep for a fish fry. Chris
  3. That is some AWESOME action. Thanks for sharing
  4. Put her on ice and send her my way
  5. WOW!! That IS some great action!! Never heard of a fish hitting a lure 2 days in a row. Does anyone know what happens when bass are caught?? Do they go into hiding?? maybe a state of shock?? How long before they bite again?? I have been told they go right back to their nest when released. I know that I have never caught the same fish twice on our river. I gotta make a trip to Canada for sure.......
  6. Nice color Mercury. I can get close to that effect with a touch of red or TONS of MF Flo. Pink, but the guy who ordered from me wanted a brilliant bumble gum; kind of an "eye shattering" BRIGHT pink, instead of a fleshy pink. Well I say "pink is pink"......if they eat bubble gum, they'll tear up flesh pink too.
  7. It seemed to work a little better today; mixing the stuff before heating, but I'm still not sold. No more Fluorescent colors for this guy!!!
  8. I've never fished the Kings River, although I know there's some monster Spotted Bass in there. It comes down from Pine Flat Reservoir and many guys in California think the record Spot is in that lake. I just never had access to the river. Nowadays, it always "who you know". It's not uncommon to see farmers and landowners come out with shotguns if they catch you anywhere NEAR their property. I love to fish, but not THAT much.
  9. I seldom work with flo. colors and I honestly hate when customers order them. How about putting something on the website like: FLUORESCENT COLORS ARE NOW AVAILABLE.......(at 5 bucks a piece).
  10. Thanks again fellas for the lightning fast replies Finger Lakes........the one thing I haven't tried is mixing like crazy before heating. Will try that today. Bruce........I get the same results with MF color. Just thought I was doing something wrong......45 drops.....50 drops.....55 drops.....okay......anytime now Wouldn't it be nice if Lure Craft and MF got together and came up with "middle of the road" colors : .....I am currently buying from both places, and I would sure like to stick to one. Chris
  11. My comment was definitely a compliment. I like it, and would go with it for sure!! Man if that snake doesn't grab a customer's attention.....I don't know what would.
  12. I'm trying to make a bubble gum color (flourescent pink and white), but I have a miserable time working with any of Lure Craft's fluorescent colors. I know the flo. colors have to be added before heating, but I still end up getting nothing but gummed up chunks of color on the bottom of the cup/pot. I don't have this problem with MF flo. colors, but they are not a brilliant shade like Lure Craft. I spoke with Dave at Lure Craft and he told me to mix worm oil in the flo. pink. I now have it mixed with mostly ALL worm oil and very little color, and I'm still having the same problem Does anyone have any secrets they'd care to share : : I'm fixin' to give it up!! Chris
  13. It sure is a small world! I fished the Merced in October last year and did really well. We caught several native trout in the 2-3 pound range. It was too cold for bass fishing, but I plan on going back this summer. We should all "hook" up.
  14. It originally comes from the Yosemite area, but we're 80 miles downstream, so it's not that bad. This time of year the surface temp. is about 65-70 degrees. You're welcome to come anytime. I always need a fishin' partner I've got one more picture to show off. It's not much to look at, but it always makes for a super bedding area. I caught 3 nice bass on Chirmy's green lizard in this spot a couple weeks ago. Way To Go Chirmy!!!!
  15. Yeah I hear ya Musky, but that honey-do list would HAVE to be put on hold ............. The river you guys are looking at is the San Joaquin; smack dab in the middle of California. I am fortunate enough to live 3 miles from the shoreline. Not quite the luxury that Mercury has, but it ain't bad. ....... It's loaded with Largemouth, Spotted Bass, Crappie, and Bluegill. The Smallie population has dwindled, but when you catch one it's usually pretty good size. My biggest largemouth was 7 1/2 pounds caught 2 summer's ago, but I've seen plenty of 10's and 12's. Been fishin' the river for 17 years and I've seen maybe 10 other fisherman on it during that time. Talk about "Low Pressure" Fishin' ..... I use a little 2-man Water Scamp boat, and it just works great. I can back that sucker right up to the water and I've got good fishin' 3 miles upstream and downstream. Nathan.......if you're ever back in this area.....shoot me an email and I'll take you anytime. Just don't tell anyone else about my "secret" spot Here's another shot of our river...... a nice and peaceful inlet that always produces fish for me
  16. You got it rough Mercury..... Attached is a picture of the house I WISH I lived in. I have been fishin' our river for years, and every time I hit this cove I think about taking a picture. Well this time I did! I took this shot right after I released a nice 5-pounder. The picture doesn't really do the house justice because it only shows about a third of the place. It twists and turns back around behind the trees. The owner has never fished in his life. What a waste having a beautiful place like that just inches from incredible bass fishin'......and they don't fish
  17. Had to clean my shorts when I saw that snake Good to have ya!!!!
  18. I don't even wanna think about the money I have lost due to "undercharges" for shipping I now have Paypal set up by weight, and I hope that helps. Thanks again fellas for your input
  19. The thing that sucks is jetskiers and waterskiers KNOW us fisherman hate 'em......that's why they do the things they do. Come about 2:00 in the afternoon, you get a boatload of jetskiers who have had one too many beers, and they think of nothing better to do than annoy us. You don't see us fisherman saying....."Man that looks like a great point.....right by that jetskier......let's go!!!"
  20. My wife is great, but a fisherperson she is NOT! She'll fish once every 5 years or so. I asked her to package some worms once, and she lasted about 10 minutes Hey Mercury.....is that the view from your front door????? When can I move in?????
  21. Thanks Farm. I sure appreciate the help.
  22. I gotta try that one out on my wife. Somehow, I don't think it'll fly though.........
  23. A friend of mine once did 6 months in jail and 2 years of community service for hooking a jetskier with a Zara Spook. NO JOKE :!: :!:
  24. Red Shad with a COOL twist. I like it!!!!
  25. I'm curious how some of you guys establish your shipping rates? I used to have a flat rate, but I was getting killed on shipping, especially after the post office started their zone rates. I just can't keep up with that anymore. I'm not one for charging outrageous postal fees, but I don't wanna get reemed either . It seems no matter how I set my rates, I always end up paying a few dollars more than I charge. Do any of you guys have any secret shipping tactics?? Chris
