    Softner

+1 MF super soft was my choice at the time, and it was PLENTY soft.
  2. Agree with Flippinstick. I used to keep a gallon or so set aside with stabilizer for constant reheats, but for the most part it's not necessary IMO.
  3. Technically, you could save money if you stick to your guns. Trouble is most of us don't. I think I speak for many when I say we start out buying a few personal molds to save a few bucks. I mean let's be honest.......every time we fish, we spend a grip of cash. It's really nice to pour up a couple dozen of your favorite baits for a day on the water. But it doesn't stop there.......... You learn how to make a few decent baits, friends and neighbors start to notice, and you're giving stuff away. Then you're selling to friends and neighbors...........then to the public (be it website or stores,) then buying tons of molds, plastic goes from gallons to 5-gallons or 55 gallon drums, etc. Now you're addicted. Like I said, downward spiral. LOL
  4. Downward spiral. The more you pour, the better you get. The better you get, the more money you spend. And people talk about getting into this to save money.
  5. You will........for awhile. LOL
  6. Looks like MF watermelon would work. Not sure about some of the newer companies. Maybe someone can chime in on those.
  7. Judging from the pic..... Watermelon with a touch of red hi-lite (unless the red is just a glare from the picture).......medium and small black flake. Also looks like there might be some small red flake. Can't really tell by my monitor. Touch of pearl white on the bottom
  8. LOL great for clear water! A couple guys mentioned black. Forgot about black. A must have!
  9. Take a look at Pro Cure's products...... http://pro-cure.com/store/bait-scent-products/scents/oils.html As said, I loved their Anise plus for personal use. Garlic plus was a big seller, as well as the Predator oil for swimbaits. Stick with the oils as they mix well in the plastic (if that's what you intend to do.) Stay away from the gels and sauces as some are water based and will sometimes cause a nice little explosion in your plastic. LOL
  10. Personal use? Pro Cure anise scent.
  11. Pearl powder is really good to have on hand, too.
  12. LOL very good point, but I'll toss in some 2 cents worth here.......... I'd still start small. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming Squach has never poured a bait. If I'm right, one gallon is perfect. First step it to make a decent bait, and the second is to do it consistently. Once you've mastered that, larger quantities are in order. I say do it as cheaply as possible until you figure out what you're doing. In the meantime, you have the good folks here at TU to help out. Again, just my
  13. Now that one looks too dark. LOL. Both great lookin' colors, but the first one looks more like root beer or pumpkin (as mentioned,) and this one looks like a chocolate. Try the MF.
  14. I really couldn't say. All of my supplies were purchased from MF Manufacturing and Lure Craft, although there are many more options now. Sure couldn't hurt to look into those as well as I've heard many great things about them.
  15. Yeah I'd start with at least a gallon of plastic. If you haven't poured before.......and if you're like me........you'll waste a good portion of that just learning. One very common mistake for a first-timer: not mixing it well before pouring. Every plastisol has hardener in it and will separate (some more than others.) Mix it REALLY well each time you start pouring. If you think you've mixed it enough, mix it more. Hopefully, this will save you from wasting a bunch of plastic. Good luck!
  16. Yeah I mean those are nice, but not really like the 176. I'd still try MF's cinnamon. I think you'll be very happy with that.
  17. +1 Doesn't really look like the 176, but hey......if it'll catch fish, why not?!
  18. Yes it is! I just took it and now I miss making baits. LOL
  19. First time I saw the pic, I thought it was a black back, but it's definitely a dark brown.
  20. I'd start with the one I mentioned earlier.
  21. Pretty sure that's the cinnamon color. MF makes a cinnamon that is dead on with Yamamoto's. If my mind is right, a couple drops of cinnamon per ounce of plastic with some medium black flake and you should be good.
  22. Wow....that looks nothing like the picture I saw. This is the one I based it off.... https://goo.gl/photos/vid5jqor15tkYX6z7 I don't see any blue in the Gulp smelt?
  23. Yes softener looks like worm oil. If it's labeled as such, you should be okay. Might wanna double check with the supplier, though........just in case.
  24. If you can post a pic of what you're trying to copy, that would help. As said, I couldn't really find anything clear enough.
