  1. My son and I fished over the weekend and he tells me he's a huge fan of Pro Cure's Nightcrawler scent. I use either crawfish or anise, but I'm wondering if we are fooling ourselves. Do these things REALLY work?? Do you guys have a favorite? Do you choose a bait that is pre-scented?? Who's a firm believer in scents and who leaves 'em without it? In the past, especially out here in the west, we were taught that the fish will hold on longer with a softer scented bait. I believed it for most of my life, but doubt it these days. Maybe I'm just old and cranky now. I believe we had a topic on this in the past, but I couldn't find it and I'm too lazy to dig deep. Would love to read some of your opinions. Tight lines, friends!!
  2. I've always been a fan of posting photos in forums if it helps the question........and this definitely helps! Plus I'd love to see the color myself.
  3. Doesn't sound right as I don't see pumpkin being in CC, but you can buy basic pumpkin at any lure parts place. I would recommend NOT getting pumpkin from MF as it's very weak.
  4. Personally, I love the colors that come in highlighter form. I'm always messin' around with them on swimbaits lol
  5. When I made cotton candy, I used MF fluorescent pink as the base color, then add your flake accordingly. Good luck and welcome to TU!
  6. "Super Soft" was my selling point back in the day here in Central California as there weren't many of us doing it at the time. That rage really took off then. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but that seems to have fizzled a bit in the past decade or so. Now that I'm doing my fair share of fishing, really the only bait that I want super soft is a worm because as jigmeister mentioned, it takes next to nothing to set the hook. I don't want a soft craw, stick bait, ned rig, swimbait, etc. Just don't care for the action on them in a softer plastic. So now that I've talked about pouring baits just for me and my son, I'd say I'd probably go with 80 percent medium and maybe have a gallon of super soft set aside for worms. This is going completely against my selling point LOL! Just my
  7. Welcome to TU! There have been members in the past here who have duplicated the eggs and hopefully someone can chime in and help out. Good luck!
  8. I'm not entirely sure if I'm understanding this right, if it's a mold or color issue. If it's a color problem, the only thing that worked for me was changing to non-bleed chartreuse. ANY color I used prior to that would obliterate chartreuse.
  9. Dang my old eyes. It looked green pumpkin lol
  10. Easiest way if you don't wanna mess with the swirl effect is a dark green pumpkin with a touch of blue hi-lite. Good luck!
  11. Doesn't look like anything I've run across in my life, but man what an UGLY lookin' lure!! (I'll bet that sucker would catch fish, though) Sorry I don't have anything more to add other than it looks like something randomly put together, but if you say you saw it in a catalog, that wouldn't surprise me either! Really interested to see if some of my fellow old timers on here have seen it. Good luck in your quest........and welcome to TU!!
  12. Nailed it on that one, brother. LOL I'm actually enjoying the fishing part of it now.
  13. Agreed. I haven't made a bait in years and I had a burning desire to make an order!
  14. Guys I just called and the girl was very nice on the phone. This is their new website..... https://www.m-fmanufacturing.com/ Phone number is 817-281-9488 She did say that ordering off some portions of the new site might be difficult as they are working out kinks, so she recommended calling if you have any problems. Good luck!
  15. I remember as a kid buying those pre Rapala Wiggle Warts at drug stores for 99 cents each. I'd go in with a fiver, get 4 lures, and still have enough money left over for an ice cream! I don't know if anyone has looked at the prices of those old school baits now, but it's shocking!! Here's an example of a seller on Ebay. The dude wants anywhere from 18 to 70 bucks a piece, depending on condition. Sure wish I would have kept all those lures!! https://www.ebay.com/itm/314433098376?hash=item4935ac5288:g:BMQAAOSwZrFj~q32&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8MkoZkCJGSRL0n8NHVvGGaAxHaBOatogKhHq7AH0yJFDttl%2Bcp2mBJYI5KWKFyANhKoQtIBNtrzt0Y%2B%2Fd1rOHYQFj%2BAV1r04T%2B3TvFAFxLbAPMqalIpIcMkfYg8W8JDI67iEvHai9ufeLSCscg4eUK7bDuGkohcm8EryHR4nKp%2Fn%2F3u9nkxP3JQnRiOTiN7bdR9VcKq1bzWT5QtsEDFwITPy6PD1kxgtyVx%2FnWrDRgTyglofY9wDbxVLJd%2B4NfX58o%2FE6Mhv52aTvva0inFI3v%2BzI4NiYNDF2y0znEoRLQRyl4YYfe0PZpeD4oukJQ0oJA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR4ahnfzoYQ
  16. At this point, with the plastic being so old, I'd be very careful with heat stabilizer. That stuff can yellow new plastic. Use it in very small amounts, but sadly it sounds like this batch is done.
  17. Okay I'll bite...... Great info, BUT........personally, I would never use live bait when fishing for bass. I have never had to fish to eat and bass would be the LAST species I would eat if I had to. Therefore, it's all about the sport to me. Kills me to see stringers of nice bass taken. As you said, CATCH AND RELEASE!! Tightest of lines! Chris
  18. That's a really good idea and as a pest control guy, I've had plenty of chances at those through the years and never thought of it!! All those restaurants I've serviced I could have picked up thousands. DOH!! Oh and welcome to TU :-)
  19. Yeah pumpkin, amber, amber-orange, etc. All good calls. Should keep him busy for awhile.
  20. This is a color that I wish was around when I poured because it's deadly!! Looks to be 2 different laminate colors and possibly the flake is making it look orange/brown? I would start with a very light green pumpkin over a very light watermelon and add your flake from there. Hope I didn't screw you up too bad!! LOL
  21. I'm sorry, brother. I just now caught this! I just searched "fish hook removing tool" on Amazon and came up with a bunch of stuff. I'm sure none of them look like those from the 70's or 80's, though. lol
  22. I'm sure the injection guys will chime in, but the few I had I would inject slower and at higher temps. Hope this helps :-)
  23. Nailed it! Also a neat little trick I learned with hi-lites is I had much better luck when adding the powder to cold plastic. Seemed to separate better that way and not as clumpy. Good luck!
  24. As soon as I get one, I'll be happy to pass it along!
