  1. Hey Coley, I'll be right back, I have to go get my sun glasses. Great idea and thanks for sharing. Take care. ken
  2. I agree 100% with you Skeeter. Tell it the way it is. I don't have any pro staff and I catch fish on my crankbaits. I also agree with LaPala big time. I'm not saying the guy isn't good at what he does, its just the way he come across and most people don't like that. I wouldn't even want one of those baits in my tacklebox and I'm sure I am not alone on this one. Just my opinion. Ken Schmitz

    Pictures??

Jerry, I think your idea of having a set amount of pictures per member per month is a good idea. Also removing a picture to add a new one is a good idea. That way it wouldn't take so much space and bandwidth. If there is someone that likes to post alot of pictures and having their own gallery, they should be willing to pay for the space used. I know alot of people don't realize how much space it takes to store pictures. I am sure that most of the members wouldn't mind paying a gallery fee. I know I have no problem with it. When you come up with a price just let me know what the cost is. Will this be by the year?? Running a site like this one takes alot of time and money. People have to realize that. If all the members would contribute to this the site can only get bigger and better. Thank you for all the time, money and hard work you put into this site Jerry. Come on people, I think it time to help Jerry out and show some real thanks $$$$$$. Thank you one and all. Ken Schmitz Mylures PS. Jerry, would you please email me your mailing address. Thanks

    Pictures??

Hi Jerry, just a thought. If all the photos take up so much space, why not delete them and start all over. To keep this from happening again you will have to limit this to one or two photos a month or charge a fee to post a picture. I have alot of photos on my computor and have to clean house once in awhile too just to keep everything working properly. Photos take alot of space in a short time. You can delete all my past lure pictures if that helps. Thanks for the great site and keep up the good work. Ken Schmitz Mylures

Hi Coley, no its not spyware or some bug as I have my computor protected and I check it often to make sure. Hopefully Jerry will have this corrected soon. Have a good one. Ken

    Logging in

Hey Pop, I don't know whats going on as I never had any problems logging in before. Now I kept getting an error message and couldn't even email anyone. I just kept trying and now I got logged in. I don't know if I will have to log in everytime I go on. Sure hope not. Let me know how your doing with this. Thanks Ken Schmitz
  12. Hello everyone, Wow its Easter weekend already and we still have snow on the ground and people are still driving out on the ice and icefishing. Thats the latest I can remember and I have lived here for over 35 years. Now all I have to do is convince Nathan to share some of that nice Missouri weather with me. Anyway I wanted to take a minute and wish everyone a HAPPY EASTER and the best always. We are very fortunate to have such a great site and all the great people that share so freely here. Thank you Ken Schmitz
  13. Hi there, I got my split ring pliers from Jann's NetCraft and am very happy with it. I think it was their premium pliers and was like $17.95 but I have used it alot with no complaints. I have a cheap one that I tried also and it doesn't work so I just don't use it. Hope this helps and good luck. Ken Schmitz
  14. I'm with Nathan 100%. I also have a Craftsman bandsaw for over 35 years and have had no problems with it. I think the bigger bandsaws will perform better only because of the larger wheel where the blade runs on. I haven't gone through alot of blades in all the years I have owned the bandsaw. I sharpen my own blades, though its not cost feasible nowdays. A bandsaw like any other tool needs to be respected but is safe to use if you just use caution and common sense. Routers are only dangerous too if you don't use caution. Good luck with whatever you use and the more you use a tool the better you will get. Ken Schmitz

    Fishing Soap

Hi there, I have always used Colgate tooth paste to get rid of gas or other odors while fishing and it never caused me not to catch fish. I have been doing that for years. Ken Schmitz
  16. Hi there, just wondering why you want to drill all the way through a dowel?? How long are these dowels? You shouldn't have to drill any deeper than what the length of the eyescrew is. No matter how you do it, it depends alot on the type of wood you are using because with a small diameter drill they will walk off center just by hitting hard and then soft grain. When I use a drill press I clamp a dowel into a V groove with a base that I know is square. If you have the center marked you should be able to drill straight unless the drill wanders off center. If you have any specific question please post or email me and I will see if I can help you out. Thats why we are here. Thanks and good luck. Ken Schmitz
  17. Hey Sieb, how big a gaff are you making and for how big a fish?? The reason I ask is if its for strength I would use ash or maple. I used to make floating gaff hooks by using cedar. That way if you dropped it the gaffhook would float. These were used for sturgeon spearing in the winter and the fish could be anywhere from 30-180 pounds so I used heavy SS and it took a big handle to keep it floatable. Hope this helps. Ken Schmitz
  18. Been there and done that. My kids are all grown and moved out. I worked basically day and night with no time for fishing. My last five years I worked 12-7 for weeks on end. All I did was work or sleep. Then at 55 I decided there was more to life than work so my wife and I retired early. She is behind my luremaking 100 %. I have one room in the house where I dress hooks and put the hardware on finished or painted baits. I have a 24' x 30' shop full of woodworking tools and I have heat in there if I need it. Life is good-- what more could a guy ask for?? I get up in the moring and all I have to do is make lures or not!! I think this is just awesome. Once it warms up and the lakes thaw out I will have to go fishing to try some of my lures out. Either I will be fishing or making lures so I must be in heaven. Right. It will all work out for all of you in time. Hang in there. Ken Schmitz Mylures

    Staminia

I have only ordered from Stamina twice. The first time I had to email and ask where the hell my order was. Then they emailed and said somethings were backordered. Would I like to wait or take what was available and then reorder what was short. I wasn't real happy but thought I would give them a try again. I put in another order on the net as orders over $100.00 has free shipping. In the special instructions box I asked to be notified of any shortages and how long it would be. One item was on back order and it took three extra days. I was OK with that and got my order in a timely fashion. I used to always order only from NetCraft and their service was awesome but its not as fast as it used to be either and they all sure know how to charge for shipping. Ken Schmitz
  20. Hi there, I really don't think it matters head or tail end. I have done it both ways with wood and plastic lures with Evirotex Lite and have had good results. Good luck. Ken Schmitz

    A mess?

Hey Riverman, I don't see any mess at all. I have a kitchen table that looks like that, a table in the computor room that looks like that and a 24 x 30 ' shop that looks like that. It only looks being used to me. My wife don't mind as she is into her own crafts also. Keep up the good work. Ken
  22. Hi there, Jann's NetCraft carries SS 1 1/2 inch eyescrews. You can order them online at www.jannsnetcraft.com. Hope this helped. Ken The part # is 307-931-005 for open eyescrews The part 3 is 307-931-006 for closed eyescrews.
  23. Hey what happened to the picture??
  24. Hi there, I never tried a CD myself but I don't think they will be strong enough. They make a mirrored polycarbonate which would be very strong. Check out EBAY. The CD's would be cheap and awesome reflective qualities but I think they would be very brittle. Thanks Ken
