  1. Bubbles can also mean the needle isn't pushed in far enough or that the front cover isn't tightened. Don't force the needle!! But......make sure it is pushed forward and that the front cap is tightened. RM
  2. I have used Windex to clean my Iwatas out for years and can't tell that it has done any damage to them whatsoever. I generally clean between colors with just water but every third color change or so I run some windex through it to get things working good again and generally use it as a final cleaner before putting the brush away for the day. If Windex is bad for the brush it will take a very long time to do any damage and literally thousand upon thousands of lures. Jed
  3. I use them all the time and thin with water. RM
  4. The problem is you went to a flea market and 99% of people don't know anything about swimbaits. Swimbaits appeal to a very narrow group of anglers that have generally done a fair amount of fishing in their life and are targeting trophy size fish. The average angler fishes a few times a year using night crawlers and spinners and knows nothing about swimbaits. It would be like trying to sell a $10,000 racing bicycle at Wal-Mart. RM

    "Scorpion" spoon

Very cool!! I like the ingenuity.

    Sucker Swimbait

A couple other versions of the sucker swimbaits I have been building. I liked how the paint turned out on these and thought you guys might like to see them also. The body is 6.5 inches long and weighs about 8 ounces.

    Gizzard Shad

    Spectacular! jed
  9. That's what I did too, find a pattern on something you like then rub the back of a spoon or the end of a round wood handle on the foil to get the pattern. I think I used to rub the back of the foil rather than the front. When you apply it be careful not to rub the scale pattern to much or it will hide the details. Jed
  10. The stuff I used came in about 2.5" wide rolls. It had an adhesive back on it.............I used to get it from the local hardware store. You can burnish down the edges pretty well if you work at it then hide them with a coat of clear and then paint. jed
  11. Yep, what Nathan said. One other thing......... Are you sure they are bubbles or are they bare spots? If they are bare spots you might be contaminating the surface with oils from your fingers. Try not to touch the lure with anything but latex gloves after you prime. Jed
  12. That's the stuff I used to use...............when I use to foil baits, lol. Jed
  13. I have never tried a Talon but I have owned a couple of VL's in the past. I know alot of guys like them but from my experience they aren't even close to an Iwata Eclipse gravity feed. If you get an Eclipse you won't need another brush. Jed V.

    Sucker with soft tail

    Sucker with soft tail

The hard resin body on this sucker immitation is 6.5 inches long and is weighted to sink at about a foot per second. The magnum grub tail attaches to the back and can easily be replaced if damaged. The two line connections on the front have two different actions depending on what the angler may want.....one comes straight back on the retrieve and the other is more erratic and dives if pulled through the water.

  18. You guys have some great set-ups! I would show you pictures of my mess but things are spread all over the place! I do my cutting, shaping, drilling, and lead pouring in the garage. The painting I do in the kitchen because I use the water to rinse my brush between colors. For the clearcoating I go back to the garage again...........it's disfunctional but it works for me! jed

    Nice job Vince............

    Line Tests

I love line tests! Thank you for sharing this link. Some lines may have an average score in a tension strength (straight pull) but score very high in abrasion resistance. I couldn't find any abrasion tests. Jed
