  1. Guys I want to be able to turn 50 musky baits at a time and smaller motors aren't cutting it......... I am looking at two motors, One is about $50, 6rpm and has 50 pounds of torque. The second is $250 but has double the torque. My guess is that fully loaded I may have 15 pounds of lures but another 5 or so for the shaft, clips, etc. Two questions: 1. Will the motor handle slight imbalances better with more torque? 2. Would I be working a 50# of torque motor too hard if it's repeatedly turning 25 pounds? thx. RM
  2. I'm curious if you guys have found a brand of PVC that you prefer..........

They all look fantastic, well done!
  4. Another drying motor bites the dust! I paid more than $100 for this variable speed gearmotor and it only lasted a few years. I am drying 25 lures at a time and need something that will hold up. Are the rotisserie motors fast enough for epoxy? Thanks.... Jed
  5. Same problem here, have to click sometimes three times to get it to go back.

    Pvc Wood

I'm surprised it floated for you George, stuff I have tried in the past sank like a rock! Nice thing about it is if you can get it in white you don't need to seal it or prime it.............that's a big time saver and it's overall tougher and more consistent than wood. Jed
  7. I just wish we had a zero toxin form of clearcoat that would dry in one hour. The Devcon, etex, etc. forms of epoxy are not good for us over time. RM
  8. Most swimbaits are using some kind of a spray-on clear..........look no further than your nearest auto body shop.

    Quote

I'm willing to bet you guys can relate this quote...............I sure can! "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." - Thomas A. Edison
  10. If you go youtube.com and search on "trailer bearings" you will find a long list of videos that show you how to do about any kind of maintenance. I did my own for years but this last spring I took the boat to a local service shop and after seeing them do them so fast and so professionally I won't ever do them by msyelf again. It was about $120 for both wheels. RM
  11. Happy Thanksgiving to all my TU friends. A great day to hang out with friends, family and then sneak down to the basement to finish up some of those lures you have been working on!!

Spectacular paint job..........one of the best I have seen. There is only a couple others that can paint like this and sadly I am not one of them.

Good looking lure John. That would kill em out west in my home lakes. Steelhead would like that too, throw it out, let it sink then twitch it along the bottom, slam!! Jed

    Slow Sink

You should be proud of this one. I have built similar lures and know the amount of work that went into this. Well done.
  17. Don't bother with the math...........each one will be different, weight then test. RM

    Cleared

Two ton has its place and so does the auto clear.......for a bass lure like this one the auto clear makes sense but when building a wood lure for musky or pike it makes sense to use epoxy. Very nice lure!

    6" Fish skin glider

You did a nice job on this lure........lots of work.
  20. Assuming the lure is constructed of wood, I would suggest you buy some sanding sealer. You can get a quart of it at just about any hardware store. Dip the lure into the sanding sealer, let dry, dip a second time, let dry. Now you can rattle can the entire lure white, use a couple light coats, don't put it on too heavy or will run on you.........do the spraying outside, paint is toxic! Let dry. Do your painting, let dry. Now coat with your favorite clear coat. RM
