Great looking lure. You might need to move the tow point down closer to the bill.
  2. Hi Dieter, The reason the glider didn't work is because the material you used is too thin. You said it was 9.5mm which is less than a half inch in width. Get a material that is 3/4" in thickness (about 20mm) and your lure will work. I have weighted gliders along the entire bottom of the lure with lead and they work fine. Some of the most well known builders use a series of holes along the entire belly of the lure. Again, the lure you made though is so short that there won't be much glide, just a quick turn in each direction. If you want a longer glide you will need a larger lure with more mass and momentum to carry it forward with each turn. I always enjoy your videos, thank you for posting it. Jed
  3. I think that glider will work fine. That particular shape is one of the easiest to get to work. With it being so short and light though, the glide will be very narrow and tight. Jed
  4. Mark, have you noticed that it makes you sway left then right when you walk?
  5. A master builder, wish I could buy one of those. His hands will be a permanently curled position after 30 years of that! Jed
  6. It's not the late nights Ben.........it's the clearcoat! Don't ask me how I know. I think every lure I clearcoat takes another hour off my life. It's like the joke about the guy that goes into see the doctor and the doctor says "I have bad news, you have alzheimers and cancer". The guy looks at the doctor and says, "well I'm glad I don't have cancer". Jed
  7. Hey Ben, The reason the second one didn't work is because of the 1/2" wood, change it to 3/4" and it will work. You need a certain amount of width pushing on the wood in the front to get it to turn. If it's too thin, the wood just cuts through the water and keeps going forward. I have a couple 1/2" gliders that work but they seldom work as well as those with 3/4" in wider. As for the action, yes it's normal for a glider to swing back and forth on the retrieve if it's built correctly. Here is a video of one of my gliders. Jed
  8. Very nice! I live in the states and went through a phase where I built tons of floats, lots of fun. You did a great job on these.

Looks good, I always find the mouth the most difficult.
  15. I wonder what's more toxic, applying epoxy with a brush or spraying an auto clear? lol. I know a guy that has sprayed auto clear for years and he looks like walking death! RM

You did a really nice job on the head, mouth, gills of this lure. As someone that has carved a fair number of fish I can appreciate the work you put into this. Well done! I hope the lure works well for you.
  18. Good advice...................go easy in the beginning. You may find your lures won't work correctly from resin. Many of my favorite baits run far better from wood than they do from resin and microballoons.
  19. Thanks Ben, this is essentially how I am doing it now. The only strange thing I find about this method is once it all looks straight, if you then look at the lure from the top, bottom, from the end, etc., at some angles it looks crooked. I'm not sure if it's just tricking my eye or what but it definitely doesn't look straight despite the fact that the lines are telling me it's straight. Dave, I forgot to thank you for finding that link for me.........thank you! Jed
  20. Yea I think that is it Dave......maybe I will just stick with eyeballing it, lol. The stuff hazmail builds is unreal, he shouldn't be building lures, he should be working for NASA!
  21. At one time I thought I read a thread by hazmail that showed a way to install lexan lips but after a lengthy search I couldn't find the thread. Does anyone have a link to this thread? thanks! RM
