the epoxy devcon is in evrey hardware store I have been in. Its just a 2 part epoxy, and you can get it at any wally world, menards, lowes, home depo, etc. Jeff

I had the same thing happen when making and using the same molds., and it happens in the same area too. I solved it by using 2 treatments of the devcron 2ton epoxy. Make sure each time you use it that you let it dry fully. I used a Q-tip to get the epoxy in the crevices. That was the best applicator I found that is cheep and disposable. I also swiched from plaster to Durhams watter putty to make molds out of. Its cheeper, easier to use and lasts longer. Jeff

If you havent forgot the color, then add it to the color recipe posting here in the color forum. It is a verry diffrent color and I know thats what its all about. Not having the same thing as evreyone else. Great job.

I have found "super plaster of paris" that was sold in Michales craft store. Only thing is its nearly like concrete when set up . Great for durability but its also verry expensive. I used the entire package on 1 mold. Jeff

Lurecraft actualy selld the silicone rtv that they use to make the molds. It is verry expensive and not verry cost affective. 1 lb = $31.95 I would recomend using durhams water putty that is found in most lumberyards. (lowes, home deopt and menards) Its only 5.00 for over 4 LB. and goes a long way. I use 2 or 3 layers of thinned 2ton epoxy in the cavitys to make them shine. It also aids in easy removal of the items from the mold. Jeff

Now it could be somthing like the extra moisture thats also in Calhouns plastic. It looks like foam and will cook off. It does take some heating to do this though. I was talking with Al's Worms about thisa while back and since FL is a high humidity area this could be the case. While cooking the plastic it could still appear milky and go un noticed. This could be the same sort of thing. Jeff

Thats a big reason I left CA. Too many rules and regs, And now seeing how nice it is in Alabama it looks like its time for a change again. Never before have i seen fish in such clear water, being able to cast to a school of mackerel, The pacific was nowhere near as warm either. Being able to hit bucket mouths and in less than 1/4 mile away get red snappers is incredible. Well you know wha they say, the southern people go north to fish, and the northern people go south to fish...... As long as I dont have to deal with 8" of hard water I will be happy...... Jeff

Well I will say that my shad scent is ONLY pro cure, I will be swinging my garlic scent over when I am out of garlic. I see that they have shrimp/prawn sauce now too. (for thoes that couldnt find it earlier.) For thoes of you that do fish saltwater I found out why you love it. Gulf Shores AL, gave up some great fish and they are MUCH more agressive than freshwater any day!. ( plus they have BIGGER TEETH too.... ) Jeff

Shoot, go on vacation and new things ALWAYS pop up. Sounds good. I would give it a try. Any thought on cost? How is the durability of the mold? I keep breaking p.o.p. molds just by moving them. Jeff

pop I am sorry, I thought it was a two sided mold. I take just a verry thin layer of 100% silicon and put it on the bottom of the lure to make it seal to the bottom of the container. I have heard of people using petrolium jelly, or somthing else like that . I get verry little of the putty under the item being molded. Sorry again pop about the misunderstanding. Pop I am still trying to get a set of pictures done for the site to make it a bit easier. Jeff

Hey pop, I would recomend to let the "bottom" layer start to set up, Then to press the lure into the putty, OR>> get enough clay that you can make the bottom layer out of clay, then press one side of the lure into the clay, pour the putty, let set up, Flip the mold over, remove the clay portion, add what ever you will use to keep the two half's from sticking together. pour the "top" of the mold. Does that help? It is a bit more time consuming, but it does get the job done. Jeff

Dont feel like the lone stranger on the big pot over heating, I used mine 2x and it scorched plastic on setting of #2. Yes the plastic was stirred, No salt, and heat stabilizer added. I got fed up with both lee pots and use them only when I have to pour large ammounts and do it as quickly as possible. Jeff

awww, The water here is almost 40 degrees. Still waiting for good rains that will warm up the water and get things going. Shoot temp drop to the 40's? Were finaly in the 40's. supposed to hit mid 50's today. But with cold wind I know springs on the way.

Sam I just sent the mail off. Sorry for the delay its been one thing after the other since I got the samples. Ok, The large holo glitter .62, I like, You have to heat the plastic up pretty hot to get it to curl. I recommend loading up on this glitter, it tends to settle fairly quick with a really soft plastic. .40 glitters, Good stuff. The chartreuse was very vibrant. I know I use the LC gold and its not bad. More temp control is needed on the .08. .08 holo, Hard one to call, I seem to lose the color on this one. I think it was more to the amount I had to use. But in the package looked GREAT. . I personally would like to use the .62 in holo, blue, black. .40 in gold and black and blue, Jeff PS, People using a microwave need to heat for around 20 seconds, then stir, repeat as needed. If I still had my hot plate I think it would help keep the plastic at a workable temp longer. The people using the Lee pots Might have harder times with curling and wash out. Definitely don't want to use the .62, it would clog the spout.
