  1. Nice Tip Bruce! Im looking at mass production of swim baits, This can make things go really fast! Thanks.
  2. No kidding, with all the scraps you may have, re melt for yourself.......... Un ending recycleing!
  3. or I can sell you my 4" sinko mold from lure crafts for $7.00 + shipping, used only 1x, then spent my $$ on dels molds. They sell the molds for about 10.00 each.
  4. The only other color I can say for starting out is signal green. But other than that you covered it all. I have played with the phosphorescent pigment, But that was only for MY enjoyment. I would say that any florescent color, bright color etf do yourself a favor, get heat stabilizer!!! Just a quart or so will last a long time for someone starting out. If you over heat the plastic it will mess up th ecolor somthign fierce. Had flo-yellow turn orange on me. Also pre mix any florescent colors in the plastic Before you heat it. look at the bottom of the pyrex cup if your microwave it, make sure you have no clumps of color.
  5. Thats the biggest thing, Not understanding what is really going on, or whats used. The quest for knowlege is never ending is it? That brings up another thing......... The new plastic from Calhouns, like the flexx plastics, I wonder if it will be off limits to salt? From initial reports and testing, the salt A: kills the strething, B makes the item instable and fall appart inder stress. This is one thing the soft plastics still have over it. adding HUGE ammounts of salt and scent, as well as ease of use. The salt in the package is added only to attract the fisherman, and as we know will hit the water and be useless.
  6. cool deal, I wouldnt mind using somthing like that, Hope it turns out well.
  7. Shoot, I just spent 25.00 at k mart for mine, dont have anything fancy like a food processor, But it has only 1 speed, and thats pulverize....... made fast work of the salt... Oh, one other thing. If you have tons of humidity, put it in a sealed container, this will keep it from turning into chunks....
  8. Well I had some salt from LC, and as you know its hella big crystals, I have a high speed blemder with a glass jug, pour in about a cup or so. after about 2 min, its totaly pulverized......... Now its powder, I add it by weight now since its so fine. remember my ice blue craws? with this salt they have the same color as blue ice in the packets. It also gives the lures more flexability since the salt is so fine and not in big chunks. I was at a resteraunt a buddy owns and was checking out his salt, its still mortons, but man its really refined well. you have to go to a distrobution center and get it, but its "foodservice pack". with a yellow band on it. I will try it when I run out of the salt I have already ground to a powder. The same place that you get your popcorn salt should have it. (dont know about costco or sams club) but you could look. Take care chris. Jeff
  9. Not to forget that RED made some tutorials listed here on this site. And he has made some KILLER baits from them. Its a bit cheeper and more foul proof than using plaster of paris.
  10. hey chris, this is from the pro cure site.......... A thick oily liquid made just for soft plastic baits like worms, grubs, tubes, pork, jerk baits, etc. Made from real whole fresh ground up bait, special sea salts, powerful fish attractants and bite stimulants. Available in 2 or 8 ounce squeeze bottles. Best scents to use are..... I knew I seen it somehwere..... BTW, in my senko's I add more salt than that. several OZ's The powdered salt does stay suspended much longer.
  11. Chris did hit that one on the head. Thats how many people start. MF plastics also has a starter kit. But I think its a bit more expensive. I have used Lure crafts plastics and stuff for a while and find it easy to use. If you have a microwave, I would recomend using it instead of the pouring pans. Just get a pyrex measuring cup, 6 oz of plastic is ready for pouring in about 3 min's. Glad to have you stop by and take part. Jeff
  12. Nice pig del! I wouldnt mind seeing a few of thoes!
  13. as a fyi they can also pigments for the plastics too. Minimum purchase is 1 gal. (around 60.00 for starters)
  14. Hey Chris, the scents from pro-cure also have sea salts in the mix, If you read the report they put out your adding some when you add the scent. I honestly havent done popcorn salt, Im still using the blender to turn the salt to powder. Yes if you squeese it salt does come out. Showd my brother in law and he couldnt believe it. It is a bit harder to keep it pouring when its almost to its max saturation limits, But being in powder form it doesnt settle much aftyou stir it up. (until you reheat it)
  15. The "OTHER" site seems to have been offline for a few days. Has anyone else tried to gain access into it? Just currious.
  16. Bravo Red........ Bravo........
  17. Hey del. Did you do that with your 5.25" mold?
  18. Nice pours del! Hmm, somthing to try and play with......
  19. Hey that looks like a killer set up! I wouldnt mind trying somthing llike that someday! Evreyone to red's house to try it out.............. It looks like it should be pretty snag free. Nice work!
  20. I agree with fireball. Thats how I have done it and I havent had scratches in my pot. I only clean it maybe 2x in 3 months. ( unless plastic actualy gets burnt) But then again, I pour mostly with pyrex, (talk about easy clean up!) And as far as adding heat stabiliser. Most definately! colors are MUCH brighter, Rarely gets over cooked. (colors will darken or change all together)
  21. If your looking for that 4 1/2" finesse worm, I can tell you I have 2 molds and the taper and the softest plastics both work well together. I got them for a song and dance with other lures from funny farm tackle, This mold really doesnt heat up like the sinko mold. That one will get quite warm to handle.
  22. I have several of dels molds. They are A1 as far as craftsmanship and quality. Htey do cost you, but you get what you pay for. The pots work fine for pouring, But I use a pyrex cup it pours faster. But I do use a pot for pouring them with diffrent color tips. Watermellon and flo yellow tip. Just time the pour from the pot to get the color length uniform. then top off with the pyrex cup. His open face molds are good too. I wouldnt have any problem recomending his stuff. Not only that but he also makes things right if somthing does go wrong. Great person to do buisness with. Im sure that anyone here would say the same thing. He is a good guy with a good business. Jeff
  23. look on the net for bass digest. It takes you to the website. They have several ways to contact them, But I did it through email. They are fast to respond. Usualy within 4 hours. Good Luck.
  24. Hey Nathan, I contacted Bass Digest about it and they were HIGHLY receptive. Including their client base, what types of conditions they would be fishing in, And letting you read the review before publishing. THey are even adding a link to the website. Free advertising, Cant beat it. Jeff
