  1. I tell ya red that polimer clay is neat stuff. U just made a 3 and 4" swim bait from it. Now I get to start the Multi Mold part of it. That Fimo was on sale at michales too. I bought all they had that was $1.00 a pack.
  2. Go for saltwater plastics, Its tougher and wont tear. OR you can dip first with the soft plastics and then on the 2nd dip use the harder plastic. I think MF has a saltwater grade plastic, and lurectaft has #502.
  3. Turn up the heat slowly to prevent schorching, Start at 2 1/2 or 3 and work your way up the heat settings. You can still get scorched plastic but not as bad if you start off with lower heat settings. Dont load it up with salt. The salt will settle to the bottom and not let the plastic pour. Its also harder to stir the plastic to keep the salt suspended. But they are good for pouring without dripping. If possible to speed things up I would cook the plastic in a microwave then pour it into the pot It would heat up verry slow if you try to cook the plastic in it production pot.
  4. I got a ultralite rod and cardinal reel from abu garcia. I have 2 problems. 1, the reel continualy has line twist problems. I have not had a problem with any of my other spinning gear. Even changed line 2x. 2, the abu rod broke the tip off just above the lower eye. Can I get a new eyelet and replace just that eye? I like the rod, But with the problems plauging the abu line Im about to give up on them. btw, I only landed 2 small panfish on it and it was not over stressed. Thanks all.
  5. His new address is www.alsworms.netherweb.com I asked him about it too. Hope that helps you get in touch with Chris
  6. Hey Chris. We might have to put you up in the shop, But at least the shad scent wouldnt be a shock to ya!
  7. Most people that I know do add scent to the plastics just before the pour. This keeps the scent from being cooked out of the plastic. I believe that Chris from Al's worms used kick'n bass, But he recomended Pro-Cure as a headquarters for scents. I tried the threadfin shad scent and it is much better than lure crafts scent. More than 10x stronger. He said the garlic is even more power packed too. When Im in need of more garlic I will be ordering from them. Speaing of Chris I havent seen him around lately. Anyone heard from him? As far as salt goes bulk buy on popcorn salt is really cheep, and you wouldnt have to try and grind it. But it could work. If you could spend about 20.00 and get a 50 lb bag ( I think thats what they said) and its already done, Is more uniform, consistant and done for you is cheeper in the long run than to try and grind a smaller quanty several times a day. But if you have it, why not use it? When it rund out pick up a bag and give it a shot. BTW, welcome to the forum.
  8. Happy b-day red. Great gift btw, Your lucky to have such a good lady behind you.
  9. It felt like a ton and had my drag slipping nearly the whole time. Couldnt believe its size since I usualy get 4-5 lbs commonly. I still want to go to the rock river and get one thats 45+. Hopefully sometime soon this summer.
  10. After bass fishing durring the day (wich paid off) collected a few shad and headed out that night for a little Cat action. Dusted off my cat rods, grabing my girl and cat gear and made use of the memorial day weekend. While the wind was blowing quite hard 10-15 mph, made it chilly at night. WE landed a few fish but this brute just had to come and say HI! Weighing in at 18LB 15oz....... Mr. Wiskers........ Spring time flat heads are on the move BIG time! Wonder why I like fishing so much?
  11. I already have 2 jobs, getting my own up off the groound and my regular job. Thanks for the offer though, But I dont think my fat fingers could tie more than a bucktail! IT hasnt been raining that much, but as you said lawncare, housework, and 2 jobs leve me pretty well spent! Or were you wanting me to take out that pretty little boat and make sure it still does the job?? I might take you up on that one!
  12. Looks like people are busy with business and fishing. Anything good to report? I have been to a few of the lakes around here and also going to a HOTSPOT for small mouth this weekend. Hey chris, What happened to your website? I went looking for it and POOF it.

    Hey Mercury

No prob Del. BTW, I have the mold. Made a few baits and DAMN!!! YOUR MOLDS ROCK! Best money I spent! I would recomend the 2 part molds to anybody. Oh he also has great customer service!
  14. Welcome and feel free to jump in...... THe forums fine!
  15. Cool find Celt, looks simple to tie. I will try it out next weekend walleye fishing in northern IL.
  16. For the guys that make the spinners, the top eye for the swivel seemed to be the hardest part of the bait to make. I ended up getting the round jaw'd needlenose to make the basic curl, then pad the jaws of my chanel locks to finish the crimp so the wire touches itself. Is that how you guys do it or do you have a wire bending tool to do this. If so is it also faster? I was using gama hooks and man theese things are sharp! I havent seen any hooks with a point that can compair to them. ie strike king, terminator etc. Even the mustad hooks I have arent anywhere as sharp. BTW Celt, how did you do in your tourney?
  17. Mercury

    Hey Celt!

Here is a few of the spinners I just made up. With that new shad scent Im using and the barbed collar of the mold I get some really combanations with the 3" split tail under the skirt. ( pic 3) Actualy it was fun doing somthing else besides just plastics
  18. Whoo hoo! if its less expensive I'll be buying from you!
  19. Even ordering over the internet on friday, it was here monday morning. Shipping is really fast. I didnt expect it for a few more days. Verry responsive company. Btw chris. I droped your name as a refrence. Who knows you may have a thank you coming.
  20. Yeah it pops for only a few seconds, then stops, but man it is like 10x stronger than lure crafts scents. LC is verry light after its in the plastic. But man this stuff is killer. I left it on a plate for a while and it was still giving off odor. It is the most realistic scent I have come across. Pro-cure.com is their website. tons of stuff their, but look under the fish that your going for and they have somthing for it.
  21. Hey Chris, I tried that pro- cure shad scent. Man I haven't smelled a scent closer to the actual bait than this! Only thing I didnt expect was the popping when you add it to hot plastic. Other than that this stuff is unreal. Makes me wonder what the garlic is like? Its price is higher, but man you just cant beat it!
  22. I was just flabergasted that a catfish would hit a 3" split tail thats all. Havent used pink much, But with action like that looks like I will be using it more. My go to baits were always pearl white or chartreuce for the dark waters here. It was strange to see the water so clear on the Illinois river. That will change soon enough with all the boats churning up the silt. Looks like Im changing up my color selections this year.
  23. Family times like that who cares if they are all big or not. The memories will last for a lifetime! glad you all had fun.
  24. Shoot last weekend I couldnt buy a bite on the mississippi or rock rivers. Had to come back to Illinois river just to make sure I could catch somthing besides a cold.
  25. Thoes are killer! They are all identical to me, Looks like tons of love and time if you ask me. Good job. Jeff
