There could be a few problems, the most common one is that you are covering the hole as your pouring, ty to pour on the side of the mold or right down the center. it gets easy after a while. other problems are your salt is not mixed very well and leaving clumps this will break loose over settling and cause an air pocket. Having lumps in plastic will also cause it( lumps like when you reheat and its not fully liquid.) when it starts to sink you need to make sure it stays full. I am betting on the first one though. What happened was about 2-3 years ago, I made remade one for a customer that was a tad narrower, saved it as the org stick bait. then when I had made a customer a bunch of 10 cavity ones the size was off. He brought it to my attention. I still have the org. program and we just double check to make sure. Good thing I had back ups As far as ebay I have seen some pretty wild things, over the years I have seen my and Bobbiy's molds go for doulbe and triple the price we sell them for ( its not often but it does happen. whats funny is the person selling the mold will put exactly who made it and some people just continue bidding ( like Chris says Bidding wars). One of my customers bought 2 4 cav split tail bug molds for $350 each, I have seen bobby's one sided beaver mold selling for $150 each in the past. one guy sold like 5 of our chub E molds at a show in longbeach last year for 200-225 each. He said it was a bidding war at his table between like 4 guys. Delw

All I can say is Absolutely impressive for your first time. A grub mold like that is pretty cool, I thought a 18" swimbait and 16" tube molds I made was big but damn thats a grub mold and its huge.
-
There are a few ways, the best in my opinion is when the baits cool use a pait scraper the plastic ones work very well. Must be a new one with a good edge. a razor blade scrapper works well also. the key to using them is oil them up just a tad, with pam worm oil softener etc etc. I made a few molds for customers early on that had a cutter built in. it was pretty cool but in all honesty wasnt cost justfiable.

There migrating servers from NY to Alanta they been haveing some issues with my server because my fishing forum and a hunting forum has a very large database. so it screws with my server during the migration process. I should have read there email before I started adding new molds and pics as they were doing something in the process that my database was.( I dont understand the stuff that well). Another words if I would have read the email that said " Please dont upload/change anything as we are migrating servers" I probably wouldnt have issues. they will get it fixed pretty soon. been having small issues for 2 days now. Thanks for the heads up. Delw

if your trying to get to the 536 level I would call kim at LC she would be able to tell you. Adding softener has alot to do with adding salt. the more salt you add the more softener you add. Lc and MF super soft just add salt no softener is needed. Calhoun soft MF regular and LC regular add half the amount of softener that you do with salt. for example lets say you add 4 oz salt you would then add 2 oz softener. Calhoun medium to make calhon soft 4oz softener per gallon Calhoun hard mf and lc salt water 8oz per gallon on the calhoun and probally about the same on the lc and MF to get to calhoun soft lc and mf regular.

the money minnow was hand poured ( probably injected now that yum has it) the slot in the belly was to similate the hollow body like the bass trix (too hold/hide the hook)but yet make it fast and efficient to hand pour and sell on a production level.. then after being painted it was dipped in clear plastic. the tail was not the same shape or cupped either. I designed the ORG MONEY MINNOW and the process on how to do it, how to set it up and how to mass produce them for Fast Freddie aka Fred Ward to do in his garage with a few shall we say not so legal citizens he sat in my office for a week till I got fed up with his BS and playing with things for him then not getting paid for it, I told him to leave and NOT to come back. He then went to bobby down the street and bobby did and awsum job on the molds. which Fast Freddie burned him on as well towards the end, not to mention a few other things like the supposable money craw that Fred Ward said He designed which bobby did and sold molds for even before fred was around, . Fred then took the money craw and talked YUM baits (while selling them the moneyminnow) into telling him he designed the bait blah blah blah typical fast freddie stuff, which was a total lie on Freds part and Yum is very unhappy about it and I hope they sue his butt over it for fraud. I have a mold and have had a mold for the true pourable hollow minnow like bass trix for well over a year now( about the same time I stopped selling the dipping sticks for making the basstrix style baits,) I havent made them for the public cause they are very expensive do to the time it takes to make them. The big ones 10" and above the salt water guys love. Delw

your kidding right? for something like that I would charge 9 bucks per color per bag. so that would be 27 bucks. then he can take out the 3 of this and the 2 of this and give the rest to his friends etc etc. That there would be a complete waste of time to pour and would cost you more to make than it was worth. just ask the guy, when he goes to mc donalds does he order a chicken nugget, 3 french fries 3 onion rings and one ice cube? if he answers no then ask him why. I can't believe some people are that cheap.

Lcs price ( 2 years ago) was a very good price, just like ours. laminated barrier bags that DONT leak are very expensive and hard to find. there are other Laminated bags out there but they are not a TRUE leakproof bag. April wanted some made but we had to buy 20,000-50k at a time to get a decent price. Getting them cheaper your guarenteed to get junk thats leaks. April's has tried probally 10 different companies that claim to have real laminated barrier bags they are all junk and leak except the ones she currently carries and thats only the 4x7's I think. April even went to the point of very seriously thinking about buying a bag machine to make the bags and she still might late this year, for the simple reason she can't find sizes she wants. She's been looking for a used machine but they are hard to come by. I used to be a mechanic on a line like that in my early years

No I didnt mean it like that...... for the vacumm you would have to have fitting like you mentioned. you can get very small vaccum fttings that are threads I think down to 1/8" thread size, then run some hose to a main fitting. maybe a fish store would have fittings like this for there air pumps? if you use a hand injector wether air or plastic with an oring You MUST vent the very top of the mold if you dont it will blow back all over your hands. what will happen is that your are putting pressure down and when you unseat the injector the pressure will force the plastic up. one way of sealing it would be to get a rubber airtip off a air gun( they have a bevel on them) cut it so its fits on the injector nozzle not covering the tip. then just push the injector down against the rubber tip. Again if you do this MAKE SURE YOU VENT THE TOP OF EACH BAIT due to the pressure. you can do the vents with a hack saw and a small 1/16 deep cut. you won't hurt the mold and if you did just epoxy the slot back up and file it smooth.
-
a curl tail grub mold will not pour by hand no matter how you try it or how many vents you put in it,plus it was never intended to be poured that way. here are a fews ways to get it to work. use a vacum as the tail is thick enough if and only if the mold is preheated. use the hand injector, they work but common sense must be used as it could be dangerous. or use the hand injector and just shoot air into the mold after you pour most of it, then top it off . again it will have to be a preheated mold in order for it to work. add'd with using the injector you should be able to shoot 6 baits with a full injector maybe 8.

0.4 is almost 7/16" do you mean .040?

Automotive pearls powders work very well however they are extreamly expensive I believe about 500 time the cost. but they do have colors that no one else has or can get. House of colors ( brand name) is most common at any automotive paint shop. forgot to add, becareful with there glitters they don't work well with hot plastic, they are made to suspend in light liquids so they pretty much melt in hot plastic.

you make some good points seriously. I will throw in another LOL We send billions in aid to mexico to aid in the drug problems and other things. its kinda a take take take then blame the USA for there problems. its funny how these countrys work especially third world ones, including were Dave is. they complain about america but are first in line during the check writing phase. In My opinion they should be kissing our %^% for the money we give them. but I also wouldnt cut a check to any country anyway tahts just me LOL I have lots of friends in mexico and that goto mexico, I have nothing against that place other than I don't like ILLEGALS, I don't like giving MY tax dollars to other countries to a corrupt governement and I don't like seeing US Manufacturers running to third world countries to take advantage of the cheap labor and other things then call themselfs and American Company. On a side note. I do applaud the group of business owners down there below texas that are trying to get rid oif the drug catrels. when I read that story I was like WOW its about time people are working to take there country back, they have my utmost respect and those are the type of People I would do business with. Also Don't get me wrong out US government is the one who gives teh free hand outs and forces american companies to move out of the US. Remember tax the rich help the pour, socialism at its best and we have 4 years of it coming. Politics suck sorry to get off on a tangent. Delw

send me the number/link I would like to see it. send it to del-mart@cox.net , I will check it once I get my Pc set-up in the new shop, our internet connection is actually working today 14 hours now LOL. I am using The Wardens laptop as mine isn't set up online yet. zoom does go after people they have the money to. Also remember its how the patent is interpeted, you might interpet it different from zoom because you are each selling one and a court might interpet it entirely different. more than likely the reason they are going after you is #1 because you sell baits #2 because you have an injection machine and can mass produce them thats compitition compared to a hand pourer they have no idea that you are hand pouring them. #3 they believe that your bait is a copy infringement. also remember this, just because other companies have/sell them never assume its ok to do. If the lawyer was kind enough to send you the patent info they are not blowing smoke on there interpitation of the patent. Most companies blow smoke up peoples &%$ saying this and that but can never prove a patent or copy right. Zoom is the only one I know that will send a petent if and only if they believe you have infringed on there patent. Delw

Why should it be removed? I think its a good discussion. no one is slamming any other country, what about people who get things built in your country and don't pay tax's tarriffs and smuggle things in wouldnt you be pissed you tax dollars have to make up for it. an NAFTA the biggest Screw-up this country made. I used to goto the nafta shows in colexico, I toured the black and decker, sony and a few other shops, I helped set-up and designed the machine shop for a big mold company there also advised a few semiconducter plants on how to(equipment) and some training. My neighbor who I did a ton of work for was very heaviily involved in NAFTA and I did it just to helkp him out. If I would have known back then what I do now I would ahve never ever gone down there. Remember Nafta was suppose to be 2 sided they do some here we do some there. thats what out government said. what they didnt figure in was the greed by companies in the US. its very political. I also worked with Kuja die and mold in China, They made the molds for a press I helped redesign for motorolla. I manufactured the press's about 12 a year. it was no big deal on my part as far as jobs in the shop( I could take it or leave it) it was kinda my pet project cause it was somethig different than our areospace work and I was able to make it from my desings to a finished product we which rarely see in most machine shops so it was kinda cool to build a complete machine from scratch not just parts for a machine. robalo01 I am not picking on mexico, you said american lure company and that kinda got me thinking of the typical bs that AMERICAN companies do. Especially the ones that don't care about this or that just the bottom line.

Have you got a patent number from them to see what part of it you are copyin'g? years ago when I first started I made the craw chunk for a customer per his drawings, 2 years later zoom copied it and put it on there new product list, He called me pretty pissed off saying that I sold it to zoom, then after some research we found that one of the people who bought some baits from him, copied it and sold the design to zoom. they gave him all kinds of crap for a few years saying he was infringing on there patent. I don't know what happened to the guy I think he quit pouring, he used to be on TU and tacklemaking alot. do you have the name similar to there name?

mike If I remember right when it burns it creates a gas as bad as cyanide. its pastic pvc buring very very bad stuff and highly toxic. I hear it is gummy when floting in the air and will stick to lung tisse and other respitory areas. Very bad stuff burning plastic.
-
robalo01 people are only willing to work less there cause they can't get anything else. many factors screwed america up in the sense of an honest days work and honest days pay. and your right taxs are high in mexico for shipping stuff to you guys, higher than canada by a long shot. Now that makes sence's pouring liquid(raw plastic) in there then geating it up in a type of pizza oven, thats very possible. the problem with sqeeging one that you poured hot plastic in it would be the mold would leave a film on it and be a gummy mess. even if you have a very hot squeegy it would build up and drag. Not a DARN THING its the same. Yes it does I donn't believe in it. If and American Company wants to make parts in mexico then they are not an american company. Way way to many manugacturing jobs have gone to third world counties. all our airplane parts, car parts etc etc. These companies have no Problem trashing another counrty for the sake of making a large sum of money. When I first started in the manufacturing business it was required that you only bought raw stock from us companies, if your making military parts. or any government projects you must use USA labor. now you can buy it from anywhere in the world and get it built anywhere in the world, and you MUST( tahts means Required) to have a satilite company in Mexico running parts in order to work with GE honeywell boeing and a few others. they also send to india and a few other countries. Just this year Honeywell shut down one of the biggest areospace shops in AZ ( which they owned aka allied signal) no more inhouse manufacturing it all goes to mexico and some peon counrty around europe. while they say its only 800 employees what they forgot is the 500-1000 machine shops that did work from them, this also employed the 20 tooling places and the 20-40 machine sellers not to mention the complete state of AZ manufacturng was built around that company. going going gone...... China can KMA and so can Mexico, india and a few other places. if these american companies are moving what was built in US they are not american Companies. That goes for chevy ford and dodge. you want money from the GOV. then you make everything HERE otherwise KMA

I think he is feeding you full of BS squeegy' plastic doesnt work and wont for hand pouring for a few reasons. if its an alum mold it will cool off to fast and hardend dragging good plastic out of the cavity. if its a resin mold it will make more of a mess than its worth. resin molds you dont need to preheat so I am assuming its a alum mold. also during the cooling process the bait will shrink if you squeegy the top it will sink below the top line and not give you a thick bait. sure the mold can me made to allow for shrinkage, but it would be useless and just added time to a procution run that is in necc, Hand pouring baits on a 36"x 36" plate would be extreamly difficult, do to the reach, not to mention the time it would take a bait to cool off after pouring a bunch of baits on a plate like this would be non justtifiable to have one made, plus it would not be cost efective at all. Plastic to mexico is delivered a few ways , mostly its smuggled into the country via 5 gallon gas cans( telling the border its gas for ATVS) the other way is mismarking the 55 gal drum and shipped with other companies products, like oils and coolants for machining ( they just buy a few 55 gal drums of plastic and mark put it in that shipment), and pay offs to local mexican border agents Mexico has some pretty high tarriffs and taxs on bringing plastic into mexico. The only reason I know this is due to a few Lowlife American companies that use mexican labor across the border so they can get something done for next to nothing and sell the bait at high prices asking me to hook them up in the ways I mentioned above, over the years. Any American bait company that uses mexican labor and a plant in mexico are thiefs. most come out of CA a few out of texas and 3 out of az that I know of. They also dont't have to worry about the EPA, tax's and a few other things. I am all for guys making money but I think its deplorable to use mexican labor at the rediculous pay, rip off the US government,Get away from the rules and regulations by there city state and also EPA and osha, not to mention workmans comp ss and a few other things, and call them self an American Bait company.
-
think of salt like a sponge, anything you put on it, it will absorb even one drop. if you want the baits to be shiny in the bag then don't add salt to the plastic or afterwords.
-
Salt absorbs any oil that is dipped or rolled in it. wether the salt is on the outside or in the plastic. If your salting you bait after you pour it just toss that in the bag, don't apply any oils as they will be absorbed. Delw
-
Can you be more specific? Like were are you getting the bubbles? bubbles can mean anything from moisture, surface retention additives in the plastic to mixing it very fast, then you have the way a mold is poured and even pop molds that have not cured or been surfaced will bring out bubbles. Delw
-
I think jim is pretty close as well. Years ago LC said that you could get about 800 6" worms out of a gallon of plastic and they were pretty darn close and right on the money for a 6" one sided mold. Delw

I use med and hard, I use hard when I put them as a trailer on a buzzbait which I mostly do for these. ( I pretty much burn a buzz bait in ) and med when I just pop them along the shore line. what I have found with soft is that the feet are too soft and basically float on the top not really making the water spit on the legs. with a hard or med the legs will spit water out better using them as a buzz bait trailer is pretty awsum , the bass dont just slurp it up like the do a buzzbait they explode on the bait.
