polyester glitters melt at a lower temp then the metal glitters, they are more prone to bleeding and curling as well than alum glitters. Polyester glitters like metal glitters will spark in the microwave all the same. it all has to do with the reflectivity of the glitter has nothing to do with metal in the microwave. when adding any type of glitter in the microwave it needs to be mixed very good, on reheats is very important if there is any clumping of glitter its cut out and added back in little chunks when the plastic is hot , it will allow it to disperse faster and less likely to arc in the microwave. some brands of metal glitters bleed but very few of them. almost all brands of polyesters bleed but only over 300-325º some wont bleed and just curl. Metal glitters wont curl, unless your using .125 size's and larger and then the plastic needs to be extreamly hot. I have heard of .065 curling a tad( not very bad curls though) on some very hot plastic, but only heard this ones. All that being said there is a benifit to both polyester and metal glitters certain colors you couldnt match if it wasnt for ployester glitters bleeding. like wise if you have to use too hot of plastic to pour with then metals is the only way to go. one other thing in very thin and hot plastic metal glitters will slowly sink to the bottom. Basically both glitters have equal use's in this hobby, I still use polyester glitter today, cause I have one color that I count on the bleeding of the glitters in clear plastic to make. I have tried over and over and have not been able to duplicate that color with colors alone. Its clear plastic with just red blue and touch of green polyester glitter, no colors at all. Unfortunatly its the color I feel most comfortable with.

I been watching it as well, thats alot of little molds, we have thousands of molds out but I don't remember that many little molds to one guy. There was one guy but I hadnt talked to him in 3 years he was from MA. There has been a few people on ebay selling molds that use out pictures but they are junk and not made by us. One guy even was selling them with our name on them, but they were mis spelled . Kinda like me LOL there was a guy selling them, and when you got them they were bad, really bad, they were made in mexico had burrs all over and had sandblasted finish's the plastic stuck to the molds. watch it on the plastic, no one has boughten that many of the little molds and plastic at all except for the guy I am thinking of three years ago. and that plastic probally would have some major moisture problems. if someone gets his name shoot me a email and I will let you know if he is legit or not.

Wow you guys are brutal on pricing. I've made those for people and charged a heck of alot more than he is selling the whole set up on ebay( for just the dipper), Granted mine are a tad differnet but still the same basic design, then you add in 2 stay warm pots or Quality post NOT junk pots and your talking some serous money. I cant see the dia of the pots but the ones my customers use start at around $1,200 each for the small ones with the right depth. they do sell smaller ones for 400-600 but the dept isnt there Of course you can get away with a piece of 3/4" conduit, cut piece of cardboard with 20+ #2 pencils jammed through it and a preston pot and be far cheaper. DOnt laugh one of my customers has done it that way for years till he bought a real one. Plus don't forget someone had to design it designing stuff isnt free and takes a more than a few hours and thats with haveing a picture to go by, if you had to do it from scratch you would have probally 40 hours into it. I am sure when it all was new it looked alot better than the pic, looks like the salt got to it over time.

Hey Chirmy, LTNT, hope all is going well, I havent been fishing much lately did goto amistad last week till sunday. Absolute blast. kinda nice to get away for a while. Ca getting bad is an understatement they are getting stupid as usual, they shut down a complete county this week and all boats have to pass through a checking station now and get a special permit. its free for a little while then it will cost you to get a permit just to have a boat or bring one into the county. heres some info I know some people from az that went up to fish one of the CA lakes( last month), they got checked going into the lake like normal and there boat had water on it. They got turned around and said they couldnt fish it cause there boat had standing water. they also wanted to impound the boat....... Heres the stupid part....... The reason the boat was wet cause it was raining cats and dogs at the time. those people at teh check stations are about as brite as a broken lightbuld. btw the boat was brand spanking new and never been in the water. Have one at havasu

I was thinking that also but instead of gold glitter add gold hilight and the blue or even purple hilite. if you add red hilite you will get a very nice grape effect as well, just like when a grape is in the sunlite.

There are lots of factors that go into it to do it right, some were already touched on. The main ones are What are you pouring out of and how much plastic will it hold and how long the bait takes to cool. Guys in this very serious on a big scale pour out of 2.5-5 gallon pots and have 40-50 molds, then they have someone taking the baits out as they cool , setting the molds back up ready to pour. its a never ending process. you can't do that using a pyrex cup and a microwave, with that you will need to know how many baits you can pour out of one pryrex batch.

A small socket will get the nails out, Push down on the river itself. Halg of my rivets the nails are already out, some I was able to push others I used a small 1/4 drive socket 1/4" dia or 3/16 dia

Fine Red is popular out west

if you make the mold out of silicon than you would have to make the master have the detail. however if you make the mold out of POP then you don't have to mess with the master and you can draw in the detail with a pen or marker then use the scraper to etch the POP mold. .
-
if your making the mold out of POP you can use a ceramic scraper

I don't think so but they may. the stock alum inserts don't weigh much at all, nor does the plastic tubbing that some people use. there are plenty of comercially made swimbaits that use only plastic tubing and they swim fine. weight would generally be needed if your burning them in or want them to go deep. the traditional slow rolling a bait doesnt need weight. someone was looking for a cheap alternitive and thats about the closest and easiest thing I could think of.

Damn I feel like a dumbass, I had these things sitting on my desk for 4 months for my boat and knocked them all over the floor then it dawned on me. Aluminum POP rivits just knock the nail out of them and flare one side, they are dirt check and come in many many different sizes and lengths. you can even put them in a rivit gun and pull it so one end is a little bigger , however a flare tool would be best. even faster if you buy a flaring tool you can use the clamp , lock it around the rivit on the end then use the rivit gun, it should make the chamfer like the flare but not as big.

Drilling a hole long enough for an insert in a piece of alum with a 1/8" or less dia hole on a hand drill just wont happen, on a drill press its tough and takes a while. then you need to put grooves in it so it doesnt slip. definatly need a lathe, besides you wont be able to drill a hole in 3/16 dia that deep its too narrow. and unless you have a vise that is perfectly aligned with the drill chuck you will blow out the side. not to mention the finish will more than likely suck and cut your line unless you hone or ream then inside dia. I think the best way is tubing as it already has a smoth hole in it, you just need to flare it.

No! a world with out firearms is a dictatorship

sorry yes just the syringe into the spruce, if the spruce is to big get one of those rubber airgun tips they have a bigangle on them Kelly the smallest I make is a 2" grub, the tail needs to be poured separate.

Hey guys be aware if your coming from out of state you may be turned away if your bringing a boat. Ca is experiancing some egos in the sence that if you come from another waterway your boat better not have one I repeat 1 drop fo water in it. that includes if its raining. They are worried about zebra muscles, they shut one lake down completly to all boats form the way I understand it. I think it was caterac. you can check info on westernbass.com
-
D.J. that would work just fine, just use a light coating of oil on your flare tool.
-
gofish. another way to do it is to pour plastic in the mold then shot air from a syringe info that mold then finish topping off. some guys do that now with bigger molds that wont hand pour. for less flashing your going to need the mold made out of a metal or something hard like fiberglass or POP. The mating surfaces will have to be smooth and flat Kelly your pretty close, its possible however its not practicle. Tightline. its been tried and some have been successful in an oven. I don't remember exactly the problems, but have seen pics of the results and have seen some pics.
