  1. Rico. Before you order any plastic try to find someone that had sucess with pouring the liquid in the mold then heating it up. A few people had tried this a year or 2 ago with our alum molds and the plastic did not cure in most of the areas. I havent heard anyone that has made this process work. they eaither burn it and dont get it cooked on the same mold. Delw
  2. Best advice is not ot remelt factory worms. the factory uses a completely differnt type of plastic( some of which you cant really remelt on the burner and get the same results) they also use alot of additives in there plastic and it smokes and stinks. Delw
  3. You cant heat pyrex on an open burner or flame( well you could but it will blow up / crack) Pouring pans Any brand will do wether they have a big spout or a small spout, the whole key to pans is that you dont fill it more than a 1/4 and in most cases a 1/8 full. you need to have your pan almost at a 90? angle to get the best pouring control. other wise it will run down the side of the pan. if you heat it too fast your going to burn your plastic if you dont constantly stir it. go slow. I recomend that you heat the plastic up in one container then pour a little into another container for pouring. for mig molds like stik molds and 2 piece worm molds you can pour out of a pyrex measurieng cup just fine and have it filled as well. Dented Sticks

Will, there are a few things that cause dents. it could be cold spots in the plastic or mold not usually, but it does happen could also be trapped air try pouring slower. sometimes people oil there molds and it tends to leave a spot like a dent. one other thing to look into is if the salt is not mixed good enough it will basically pop ( like an air bubble) in the side Its been a long time since I have gotten air bubbles when pouring the stik molds. Ive poured my 2 piece worm molds and not had the problem. there are some posts on this site that guys have found there problem for the dents. Delw
  5. Aluminum molds are the only way to go. it doesnt make any difference if its from me or bob, just make sure you get the bait you want. Both baits pour perfectly and have lots of detail and they will last for ever. Delw
  6. I have ever seen. A friend of mine sent me these links. The creativity is awsum. I have a feeling he is going to make some serious money on these. If your on this Board let me say you have some of the nicest designs I have ever seen congrats. http://www.hookerztackle.com/pgOzmomorph.html http://www.hookerztackle.com/pgOzmo1.html Nice Job Delw
  7. Jim one of the main reasons it has taken so long was due to the fact I was waiting on your samples That you said you were going to send to me in a few posts, That I was going to pay for that you never sent. I think it was like a 3-4 week delay. you do remember that dont you? Also reading your posts about this issue, I have seen you jump from one problem with your plastic to another. like it went from your plastic isnt clear to bubbles and pretty much everything in between. Just a quick observation that white off color on the bottom of your pyrex cup that you talked about one time is really due to not being cooked throughly and stirred throughly, its not some forgien material in the plastic. It happens mainly in the microwave because the microwave cooks from the center out so it must be stirred all the time to keep the plastic at the same temp. I tried to explain that to you but you insisted it was forgein material in the plastic and took my hole entire post out of context. I ASSUMED ( theres that word again) That you being a pro at making baits would have known that. Again with the sample you said you were going to send we could have solved this problem faster. Since you started mouthing off on this forum Ive only had one person get in touch with me, Thats right ONE person. and that was after I posted to email me. I am guessing that it probally has to do with that fact that you insinuated to people That DEL-MART would black ball them and not sell to the ones who compained about the plastic. Kinda funny how you got real quiet about this issue when you ordered a mold and when you get the mold you start foaming at the mouth again. I also find it very interesting that when anyone posts about this issue with a possible cure or a possible fix or no problems at all your are the first one to post and knock their therory out the window. Funny how you never emailed/called me about this problem. The only contact I had with you about this problem was when you were placing an order for a mold that you had to have Immediatly and towards the end of the phone conversation you said " can you look into the bubble problem" I asked and you explained that it has some bubbles and was off color, I said I would look into it. youve pm'd April once right before you started the bubble thread , never saying anything about the plastic. then you order a mold( a week ago) and never say anything about the plastic. Then in reading these posts you being the take charge kinda guy you come off to be, took it upon yourself telling everyone you would talk to calhoun yourself and get to the bottom of this, in which I am told you have never called them or had any contact with them. Sorry if I have offended anyone else on this board, We bust our butts like every other manufacture to get you the best product out there, if there is a problem we like to know about it by a phone call or email. We tried the route of figuring out the problem on this website but due to everyone of my post being pulled out of context by Ghost baits I pull them and didnt responed to them anymore( yeah that looked pretty bad). I wont respond to them on this website. If you have a problem I ask you please contact us. our phone numbers and email addys are on our website. If we get no contact then we cant help you or solve this problem. You wont get BLACK-BALLED as it was insinuated by Ghost baits, we take our products very seriously.
  8. ccroom bottom line is if your new to pouring go the cheapest route you can and get a kit, this way if you dont like it or dont think its for you , your not out alot of money. you will learn the basics with kits. If you do like it you can then upgrade to different and better componets, like all hobbies go they are never cheap. Ive seen guys go from buying a kit to just make one bait that they use and 4 months later they are selling their baits and have hundreds of molds and $1000's in supplies.
  9. There are a few companies that sell kits Del-mart, lurecraft, and m-f these kits have basically everything you need to pour a bait. softener makes the worms softer and hardener makes the worms harder. if you making stik baits than softener is a must due to the salt makeing the bait a tad harder, Salt primarily is used for weight. I never tried rit dye every worm plastic from each manufacture is different on the hardness or softness. you add softener/hardener to get your desired softness. As far as the glitters its up to you. .035 is commonly used its sold from fine .008 to coarse .125 typically dropshot worms use fine glitter, senkos use .035 and even .062, most worms use .035 Delw Delw
  10. I never tried oil paints, are they bright and glossy like the worm colors? Ive used liquid candle dies in the past and they have worked really good, They run about the same price as worm colors. I have also used the hard wax color blocks but they dont mix too well with the plastic, you have to make sure you stir it up very well. they do work but not as good. Delw
  11. camrynekai and the rest of you guys, just out of curiosity did you ever think to Email or call me and let me know about this problem? I havent recieved any complaints from anyone. other than the org 3. I quit posting on this and other bubble issue threads because everytime I Did it turned into a pissing match between Jim and I, No matter what I said or asked stuff was taken out of context. If you have a problem Contact me, I dont know who you are by your nick. Calhoun told me that no one had contacted them either, they just know about the problem that I relayed to them. Fact of the matter is if you have a complaint about a product from store x you make your complaint with store x. I dont think Red wants his board turned into a support board for calhoun plastic or del-mart molds. so if you have a problem contact me. Jim contacted me about it and asked that we look into it. he offered to send me a sample of the plastic which I told him we would pay for. we never got that plastic he didnt send it. I havent heard from Jim since that one phone call. no sample nothing so I sent my own in about 3-4 weeks later. People have posted on this forum and my forum some good information on plastic and bubbles, these Ideas may or maynot resolve your specific problem, but until you contact us we do not know what your specific problem is . you guys can speculate all you want but we cant work to resolve any of your problems until you contact us. Delw
  12. Red I thought I was told 3-5 on the durohmeter reading but I dont fully remember. I think the only problem like you stated would be when the plastic turns to a gel state, thats when it will be the toughest to turn/mix. the motor should be fine. and a gear reduction drive is always a possibility, they can be bought at grangers. I know lots of guys that use table top drill press's and make a stirrer. Delw
  13. I highly recomend you dont melt production baits down, its an injection type plastics. a completly different tyep of plastic. your baits will come out real soft for the most part and they wont set up right, also . due to the scents and other stuff they put in there baits you will get sick breathing that stuff.
  14. Black grape and red make the best junebug. it looks next to perfect and matchs zoom. The key is to get a green glitter that bleeds a tad, that makes it very nice. The blue fleck we have is Identicle to berkleys( you just need to add the blue glitter). some custmers use the bluefleck colorant to make the june bug and add the green glitter. I personally think its needs a few more drops of black grape to make the junebug. Delw
  15. whitley There are a few ways to do it. One simple way is to pour one color then pour the other colors right after. You need to have your plastic hot so they will fuse together. A few other ways that are time consuming. but give the best results heat your molds up to about 200 degrees and then pour the colors in. The plastic will flow and bond very nice and smooth. The best way is far the most time consuming even with multiple molds. Put you molds on a griddle and keep them very warm, pour your colors and let them flow then take the molds off the griddle. The oven method works better than a griddle. pour your molds when they are hot then stick the bait in the mold just so the plstic stays warm, after a few mins pull them out. the plastic will flow to where it looks like a perfect transition between colors. Experiment with it you will be suprised at the results. Delw
  16. forgot to add. You will need to use a harder plastic, dont use soft or med. it will tear to easy one other way you can make this bait, which I didnt think of till a few mins ago is if you can make a hard solid bait that looks like it( you would need to make a mold of this bait then pour a solid mold out of a hard material kinda like a reversible mold?) then take something and stick it in the bottom of the hard copy. then dip the copy into the plastic, hold straight up then slit the bottom to pull out the hard mold(master), then you can heat the slit with a solder gun to close it up. Delw
  17. I tried these hollow frogs, since they are hollow they are very hard baits to make molds for. I made one and played with it but the problem is you have to basically weld the a seam with a solder iron. There one of the toughest molds to make and pour since they are thin layered its best if its injected, then you weld the seam. To be honest with you I think its cheaper to buy them already made, due to the fact you will have lots of money in the mold and a harder time pouring them then welding the seam. Delw
  18. If they dont change the color of the plastic to much we will sell them. I personally dont use scents on any of my baits even in tournys( i used to but its too much of a mess and it really dnt make any difference at least for me). the only times I do or have used them is when teaching my kids how to fish. the fish will hold on longer when using scents for those with slower hooksets( like kids and adults that are learning). Delw
  19. When I used to use scents I only used kickn bass and it did discolor the plastic by just putting it into the bag and leaving it on the deck of the boat. I dont know about procure. make sure you use only oil based scents other wise water based will pop and boil in heated plastic. I know April got some scents in recently and they are perfectly clear (ansin and garlic) , I havent tried them in the worms yet. Delw
