Its probally the adding of kick'n bass. the color is an off orange and it does fade out colors when mixed into plastic. since its orange and motoroil is kinda green this would give you the brownish tint Delw

PUNKYMAGIN Del-mart ,lurecraft, M-f plastic all have kits to get started. there are links on the top page. I suggest you start with a kit first so you know if you will like it or not. I cant believe I am saying this, but I would start witha lure craft kit or a m-f kits since they are cheap, then if its something you like and want to get into then look into alum molds. If you want a senko type bait in a kit lurecraft and m-f dont have full round ones . you would have to buy alum. or make your own using one of the tutorials on this website. The metal molds you are seeing are not laser cut, The are cnc machined alum molds. I dont think you will find a laser cut mold anywhere. Delw

I believe there is a post here from a long time ago( when the board first started ) about this. If I remember correctly some guys were taking apart the lee pots and wrapping them with glass tape or something so it would heat evenly. Delw

Ryan ron at best bass baits has a few of those stay warm pots. I am not sure what size. he has told me he gets around 5-7k per week on stik baits with them. the Wenesco pots sells for $3750.00 and has a mixer in it. its a 2 liter pot Delw

Ive used them on some boats that I have fixed here in az( yeah one of my other jobs a boat mechanic) I am guessing your may be hitting something in your tank?? take the unit out and hold it, then move the pendulim by hand, if it doesnt work I would check your guage, if it does work than you are hitting something in the tank. To make sure your ground is working properly run a jumper direct from the battery ground to the ground on the sending unit. Also check the sending unit wire to make sure its not loose on the back of the guage. same goes for ground on back of the guage. you can also check to see if it works while out of the tank with an ohm meter. you should get differen readings when the pendulim is moved. you know I got to thinking about this a little more. if you got a small metal funnel and mounted it in place, then grabbed a sit in spin(kids have one) or something similar modified it so it would hold mold it shoudl work. Maybe an old bicycle or something that spins. You would have to center the hole on the mold one at a time but it might just work with a litle back yard mechanics.

I know a few guys that have tried it on stik baits. Its very dificult to do but it can be done . 1st way pour a half inch of each color into the mold until its full then get a piece of metal thats is narrow but wide( has to be a rectangle) that will fit into the mold. push it down to the bottom and spin it slowly as you pull it out 2nd way use 2 pouring pans and pour the plastic slowly into the mold( one pouring pan on each side) it blends pretty nice to make is swirl take a rectangle rod and spin it as your pulling it out. Some guys have done it with drills 3rd way fabricate some type of device that has 2 holes for each color of plastic, have the mold turn (easiest way) pour the plastic into the fabricate funnel so to speak while the mold is turning. one other way is to pour 2 hot plastics into a fresh pyrex measuring cup and mix it slowly with a knife until its swirled, then pour it into the mold. Problems with this is you will loose alot of plastic when the 2 colors mix so practice with colors that will mix into something you like. Like white and red for example when you reheat it it will be pink. I havent had good success maybe about a 30% success rate, I am sure once you get a system it will work pretty good. these are just some things that my customers have told me about and what I have suggested to them. Boarder basser I used to mix kicken bass with my plastic, April put a stop to that really quick. It works and holds its scent in plastic really well. even when you reheat it. Remember it will give your plastic an orangey tint in color. Another way to do it( if your using it for your self) is to make a few small slices in your worms with a razor or pin, then pour in some kicken bass and lightly heat your plastic in the mircowave for no more than 30 seconds ( make sure you double if not triple bag it so it doesnt leak) The kicken bass will absorb into the holes in the baits Delw

I buy the stainless steel measureing cup set from wal-mart. Since I dont put them on a burner and heat my plastic up in the microwave they work perfect. if you do need to keep the cups warm I recomned a griddle and set them on there, never set them on a burner cause they will burn the plastic. if you dont have a griddle go but a cheap pan you can lay on the burner. the pan will disburse the heat more evenly keeping the plastic from burning. Saint Are you pouring from an alum or stainless measuring cup? if you are make sure you dont fill it up more than 1/6th of the way. you need to be able to almost turn your pouring cup 80-90 degrees so you have control with the plastic. Other wise it will run down the side to the bottom of the pouring pan. Dont try to pour it with a pyrex it just wont work. blending colors is very easy just over lap them a tad Also when pouring the tail pour from the back of the tail to the front of the wings on each tail. and pour in the center of it not the edges( let the flow fill the sides) when pouring the wings follow them around from the middle of the body to the other side then fill the body up. Ryan the 3x plastic is very expensive and is not made that much. I was still waiting for chuck to get back with me on a price. I forgot to ask him when he was here in az sunday afternoon. I beleive its going to run about 50 -75 per gal(maybe more), if they still produce it. It didnt sell that good. This is not like any other plastic, you cannot mix it with standard colorants, you will have to get powdered pigments from plastic mold manufactures. the price is extreamly expensive on a min order of colors. Softener and hardener will not work either. It has to be cooked outside and cannot be cooked in a microwave.. one nice thing about it is that it does pour at about 200 degrees once you cook it to over 400 degrees first. Also the stuff will eat anything plastic that it touchs, boat windsheilds, coolors tackle boxs(yes even worm proof ones) crank baits and even other plastic worms. I will check with chuck when he gets back from vacation next week. Delw

if you mixed these colors with the others they will bleed like your seeing. floro colors bleed bad. it has nothing to do with lurecraft. its just teh nature of floro colors. If its the red(not floro red) that is bleeding then you might have some other ingrediants that are causeing problems. which could be scents oils etc. give us a complete list of the items and brands you used and some of us might be able to find the problem. Ive used all the stuff avail over time and never had the problems you are talking about excet with some of the floro's. most if not all colors, oils, softeners, hardeners, and plastics work well together. There should be a post here somewhere , I believe it was on ika's try a search for ikas. Basically you just need a solding iron preferably with a flat knife tip some skirts ( GYB sells these in bulk) and some grubs put the soldering iron between teh skirt and grub and slide it out, they will fuse together. My buddy did this for GYB as a summer job maybe years ago. if you look at a skirted bait already made you will see they have been fused. if you dont have a soldering iron a butter knife heated up on the stove works just as well. Oh yeah trhe skirts you will buy from yamamoto are double skirted, take a razor blade and cut them in half if you feel the skirt is to thick, this way you will also end up with twice as many skirts too. haha the secrets are slowly coming out. next time solder (solder iron for heat)some skirts onto the ends of a 5 1/4" stik bait then wacky rig it.... Delw

I get an average of 6-10 fish per stik using calhoun plastic. it will last all day if it didnt fall off the hook when the fight occurs. When I use a 1/2oz jig head on the stik bait( oh did I let that secret out ) I can fish all day long with one bait and catch many fish.

Frank I dont go by temp numbers but I know that my plastic and salt mixture pours like water or at the least warm pancake syrup. I get mine very very hot. Might try heating the plastic up a little more like others said. Delw

There are a few different types of air bubbles, small air bubbles in the heated plastic Its usually cause by some moisture. happens alot when using the microwave. happens occasionlly using pouring pots. if the plastic to be heated is colder than room temp and you stick it in the microwave to heat it up this will cause steam which in trun is moisture. one way to fix it is to let it cool then reheat It also happens when the plastic is whipped up instead of stired. or shaken in the container. if this is a must let it sit for a hour or so before you cook it. happens with high humidity as well. Adding salt usually will create these bubbles as well, someone had ( nova?) a great way to fix this problem by preheating the salt before you add it to the plastic. The small bubbles if let set for a while can be scouped out by a spoon, they will generally rise to the top of very hot plastic. Unfortunatly Moisture is a very big problem with plastics, most of us have no control over it. We have to do what we can to keep it from getting worse. Keep the plastic at room temp keep it out of the sun and sudden temp changes keep it off the ground( concrete or sand) try not to work with it in high humid areas or when the humidity is at its highest. Cook it a little slower in the microwave( for example cook for one min then open door and let sit for a min repeat proccess until fully cooked) Plastic bubble in 2 cavity mold this happens when your pouring to fast and cove the fill hole. The air doesnt escape and causes a bubble. This can also happen when your pouring very hot plastic into a mold, when it cools it shrinks , the way to fix it is over fill the molds and keep and eye on them when they go down keep filling.

MoJo your a genius, that would work perfectly, they also have 2 speeds. it wouldnt mix it to fast causeing bubbles either. Good thinking Delw
