  1. Vmaxx. No problem. I dont type very clearly anyhow LOL I have some friends that tried the ceramic bearings and they say they are about the same as the good ones that shimano puts in them as an upgrade I couldnt tell you for sure. Delw
  2. Well I would love to fish out of this, but my partners have some speed issues. A buddy of mine did this boat on photoshop for me. Cause I love speed. so I fish out of this 1997 210 cajun with a venom 200hp. boat is 21' 10" long and handles some great big waves. Delw
  3. You can also back them in the oven on low heat for a few hours, this will bring the natrual oils back out of the mold. you can usually bake them 3-4 times, and get 100-200 pours from each mold with the glossy finish. you might wantt o try to do a search I know we have talked about this subject before and the best way to bake them I think al's worms was one of the ones who first mentioned it, or it might have been scott from sr plastics Delw
  4. Bass8 That looks pretty good. Its close but like you said less drops might work better to make it transparent. VG I been working on this color for a few months. I have it pretty close but no cigar yet. I thought I had it done but ran out of highlight so I am waiting on some more highlight to show up. Once I get it perfect I will post the ingrediants, its a very tricky color too make. I have 2 quarts(but ran out of highlight) of it and gave bass8 some to play with. Delw
  5. senkosam Depending whos oxblood or whos pumpkin you are comparing it to you will get different colors tints. some oxblood is more red than brown and visa versa when people talk about oxblood out west they generally refer to roboworms oxblood. Oxblood is one of those colors that everyone had but almost everyone is different too Delw
  6. You know I just thought of another thing , That I should have remembered. A long time ago there was a post either here or on taklemaking(when it ws running) that a guy had a problem with silver glitter in his microwave. others did not. then a few other guys posted about seeing this at one time or another as well. Glitter is bright and shiny and it will refleck light or microwaves at some point, so if your using alot of glitter that might be something to look into. something to think about. If its arcing in one microwave use the other. Since melting plastics in a microwave is relitvely new, ther are some problems that some people are having this could be one of them. Another one is a microwave will trap moisture and cause your plastic to bubble in some real rare cases (usually when there is high humidity). what happens is that a mcrowave cooks so fast it traps moisture. Delw
  7. I am not saying your doing this so dont take it wrong, but you dont have the metal spoon or knife still in there do you? I had one guy that had the same problem and it turned out he left the spoon in there. A few other things to check make sure that the container you are heating up in has no metalic paint or linings Delw
  8. Be careful buying so called abec 7 bearings, there is really no abec 7 bearings for the bearings in those reels, even the so called abec 5s are not really abec 5s. What they are , are generic bearings that are made similar to abec 7 and 5. they are not really tested or even the same specs. The bearings that people do sell and claim to be abec 7s and abec 5s are in most cases better than what you have in your curado. Theres a switzerland company that makes and abec 7( a true abec 7 for the size you need for a shimano and that bearing alone(just for one) caost $85 plus shipping I did alot of research on this issue trying to buy abec 7s and abec 5s in quanity and learned a great deal. Also when you add these new bearings then drop a few drops of regualr reel oil in them you might as well not bought the bearings. make sure you use hotsauce(at a bare min.) and try to get rocket fuel if you can get it. You can buy the next upgrade bearing from shimano which they clasify as a abec 3-4 direct from them. and your curados will cast and be alot more smoother than they were. there is also alot more than just adding bearings. its best to just send the reels back to shimano and let them rebuild the reel and have them add the next step bearing while they are at it. its faster and easier than doing it yourself plus it only cost about $20 including shipping. They also put in all new parts when and where needed and in some cases will just give you a new reel instead. I got 8 years + on my curados I have over 10 of them and the only 2 I have had problems with are ones that I have cleaned. I never grease them take them apart or anything. they get used quite heavily and sit in my rod lockers 24-7 or out on the deck in the rain 24-7 while fishing. I did find one thing that did help the 2 curados I cleaned, and that was to take all the bearings and clean them very good with keroseen.( keroseen is a good lubricant also) if I would have dropped some rocket fuel in them once a year at least they would be working perfectly today. but I have never oiled them for 4+ years. Anyway those 2 that I did clean the bearings in outcasted my others by a long shot until they ran dry of greese/oil if you want to try a reel that will smoke a curado or even a super free curado get a $69 bass pro shops rick clunn reel, they are twice as good as a curado and will cast 50% more and pitch and easy 50% more than a curado. I got a few of those also and I am very impressed. Delw Delw
  9. MICROWAVE HEATING Using the microwave to heat Calhoun Plastic is quick and extremely easy DO'S: Make sure you have a clean DRY counter top or work bench to pour from. If you set a measuring cup with hot plastic in it on a wet surface it can and will explode. Clear your workspace of all unnecessary items. Clutter will lead to injuries or damage of supplies if you have to deal with hot plastic spills. Only use Pyrex brand for heating the plastic up and make sure the measuring cups are microwave safe. Every microwave is different so the minutes recommended might be to long or to slow. Until you know how to do it stir the plastic every 30 seconds. When you get a system down you can skip a few steps. Keep children out of the area, Plastic is extremely hot and it will burn you very badly. Test your products in small quantities first. This will prevent wasting a whole batch of plastic, glitter, etc. if the mix isn't right. Set up work area in a well-ventilated place If you are working in the house, clean up BEFORE your wife gets on your case. This scores points and ensures she will let you do it inside again. Trying to keep plastic hot in the middle of winter on the back porch doesn't work well. DON'TS Do not have any liquids (including those beverages!) anywhere close to your plastic. Water based liquids will make hot plastic boil, which can be very dangerous. Do not heat your plastic too hot. If you see it start to burn (turn brown in the center of the cup) get it out side immediately. Scorched plastic will stink and smoke. Do not use the microwave method if your shop temperature is below 70? (bringing hot plastic in glass containers into a shop that is below 70? could cause the container to explode). WARNING: Do not assume your wife's kitchen is a bait-pouring supply shop! Go out and buy your own measuring cups. ADVANTAGES: No need to buy more pots for heating different colors. No need to spend a lot of time cleaning pots. You can get the plastic and salt mixtures to a watery consistency for easier pouring on Stik Baits. Very little to no smoke so you can do it in your house. Extremely fast: in most cases 5 minutes or less for 2 cups of plastic. No need to add heat stabilizer to Calhoun plastic. DISADVANTAGE; You will have to reheat about every 15-30 minutes. SUPPLIES NEEDED: 1 cup and/or 2 cup Pyrex measuring cups for the microwave (other brands, including Anchor, can explode in microwave). 1 cup and or 2 cup measuring cups for pouring (Anchor brand will work, but staying with Pyrex brand cuts down on confusion), or any pan you feel comfortable to pour with. Long ice teaspoon for mixing and stirring plastic. Thick pot holders INSTRUCTIONS: Pour plastic, colors, softener, hardener, etc. in a Pyrex measuring cup, Stir mixture extremely well. Heat in the microwave for 2 minutes. Remove from microwave and stir well. Heat in microwave for 1 minute, then remove and stir again. It should start to thicken at this time. Continue heating for 30-second intervals and stir till you get the plastic to the consistency you want to pour with. Once you have the plastic at the consistency you feel comfortable to pour with, you can start pouring direct from the Pyrex measuring cup or you can transfer some of the contents to another measuring cup if the heated cup is to hot. The Pyrex and Anchor measuring cups have nice pour spouts on them and make them very easy to pour plastic into stik molds or other 2 piece molds. For single piece molds you may prefer to pour plastic into an aluminum pan.
  10. When making stik baits due to salt being white you will have to add lots of colorant. for example to make bluefleck your looking at 100 drops red and 75 drops blackgrape for 1 cup plastic 1/2 salt and 1/4 softener. some colors work well with not adding to much and others dont. I have no idea why. I think it has to due with densities of the colors them selfs ie red yellow green pumPkin etc.
  11. If your having a problem with black email me. and the dates you purchased it.( this way I can track it down) We gone through quite a bit of black and havent had any problems That I am aware of. I was just pouring now and havent had any problems( actually the first time I poured in a very long time). Sounds like a water issue to me if it is hissing and popping NJFishRGuy did you mix it very well? black in one of those colors that settles pretty fast. I generally put 2 1/4-20 nuts in the bottle and shake the begezus out of it. Delw
  12. while most are injected heres a way to do it and make it work so-so. I am going to use a stik mold for an example. pour the stick mold like your doing a laminate, put the mold together and then pour very hot plastic down the hole, then take a skewer its wide and skinny put it down the middle and slowly spin, Ive had some customers try this and they say it works so-so Delw

    Worm Oil?

I dont know whats in worm oil but next time I talk to a chemist I will ask, Calhouns chemist will let me know if I ask, its really no secret. The worm oil and color might have been a typo on my part, it should be softener not worm oil Sorry about that. Delw
  14. I have to agree with red on this one, You buy a mold that someone calls something, your making that bait why not name it what you want. And not to mention what someone else said most baits are copies from commercial baits so we do call every senko look alike a senko? Delw
  15. I do mine in my wifes kitchen, as long as I dont use any scents she dont care. It doesnt smell up my house but it would take alot to smell it up anyway with three kids. Delw

    SCAM TIME

Hey guys just thought I would let you know. Beware of money orders comeing from other counties. They might go with suspicous emails. they are on forged bank money order and believe it or not they look identicle, You wont be able to tell the difference and neither will your bank. The only one taht will no fosure is the bank that issued it. April was smart enough to call the the bank that the money order was made out from so we got lucky. my bank would have cashed it if we had depostited it. The amount was over $4000 there was only one probem it was a cancle money order from 2003( ie stop payment) so before you cash or deposit any money order especially from other countries call the bank it was written on. NOT YOUR B ANK cause they wont have a clue until its too late. If its from the USA the call the FBI if its a forgery they will do something about it here in the USA. Delw
  20. As long as you have adequate vetilation, Calhoun doesnt smoke as much as others . but I surely wouldnt want to breath the stuff. dont forget worm plastic is basically liquid PVC. I do it in my wifes kitchen and use her microwave. Delw
  21. Only use pyrex. anchor will work but sometimes it will go kaboom make sure that there is no wet stuff on the counter(wood bench is best) make sure that you are in a room tempature area, ( not in a real cold garage) or it will go kaboom yes a cooking stoove will keep the plastic warm. I like to set a alum plate on it to distrubte the heat evenly wait 1-3 mins and the worms can be pulled out and puired again. sometimes sooner but generally 1-3 mins I use pyrex measureing cups 2 cup ones I get them from walmart
  22. When your mold is apart, you pour just a little less than half full of one half , about a 1/4" before the chamfer. do all 4 or 7 cavities. then put mold together and pour into the hole normally. Search for laminated stiks on this site there is a few guys saying how its done. Delw
  23. Madbass Since the first one I made I havent used a senko since, the action to me is alot better than the senko style. if I wacky rig them the tails moves alot more than the main body just like a real dying shad. if I hook the normal the tail really looks live. They also cast a heck of alot farther and sink a tad faster. this can be adjust buy the amount of salt you put into the bait. you can also get these bait down to suspend fish that are in 20-40 feet of water alot faster than a stik Delw
  24. Sam that motor oil is one of the best colors I have ever used, I actually pired some baits with it friday night for dropshotting, throwing different glitters in gives some pretty good results as well Delw
  25. The price difference you are seeing is not the ribbed vs egg sack but the number of cavities . 49 for 4 cavites and 95 for 7 cavities. I dont get much requests for the ones that look just like the senkos( ie with the egg sack) so if your wanting ones with eggsacks just leave me a note if you purchase them. they are the same price as ones with egg sack and with out eggsack. I thought I updated teh pages in saying so I will check them out an fix them pretty soon.
