I am making frogs molds, I was wanting to make a frog mold like the ones you are talking about(hollow in the center) like a scum frog. theres a probelm with that due to hand pouring. its pretty much next to impossible again due to the thickness of the skin. That being said I have used exposed hooks and havent had any problems yet. Delw

As far as who to buy it from , I wont touch that. I will say that Alum molds are the only way to go. the detail will always last and the bait will come out perfectly everytime. generally a slim is the same as the slim that yamamoto sells and the regular ones are the same as well.

Will as far as size it all depends on the time of the year and location of your lakes. some its just a personal prefference. same goes with colors. I make a combo stik molds with 4 and 5's in them. As far as who to buy it from , I wont touch that. I will say that Alum molds are the only way to go. the detail will always last and the bait will come out perfectly everytime. Delw

Ive used ebay and paypal for a long time(litteraly 1000's of transactions), never had any real problems with either. Had one paypal deal done with a stolen CC, I thought it was odd due to the amount of stuff they bought. I called paypal and the put a freeze only on that charge, they found it to be a stolen cc card and returned all the fee;s they normally collect on the transaction. On ebay I I bought a $9000 piece of inspection equipment for my machine shop(for about $5000 cant remember exact price), The customer shipped it out 3 weeks late(no real biggy to me) and it was shipped in a cardboard box thats right cardboard. That would have been so bad except this piece wieghed about 80lbs, needless to say it was trashed when it arrived. The guy I bought it from wouldnt pay for it or send me the insurance ticket. I put in one phone call to ebay and it was settled with-in 4 days. I got reimbursed for everything down to the penny.( he sold lots of stuff and ebay would cancel his account. One other note with paypal. I had a tourny in nevada earlier this year, since I dont like to carry cash I took my paypal cc. we put the room on it and payed for lunch(all in about 1 hour) we went to the cash machine after lunch and the cc was canceled. we called paypal and there reason for cancling it was due to the fact that we lived in AZ and never really used it. they activated it back up upon verification of our info through a phone call. While I was pretty ticked and down right mad about it(at first) I thought it was the best thing that ever happened.(this is whats keeps fraud from happening) One hing I have learned over years and years of playing with pcs is that you never ever click ona link sent to you by email, no mater if you know the company or not. always goto the direct website that you type in and in a payment method case always I mean always make sure its a secured server aka https. You can always make hyperlinks go to a place other than they say via html programming the address. Delw

I personally would goto bass proshops and buy a kit that includes everything you need. then if you like it buy more stuff. dont waste your money on stuff that you dont know if you will like or not. Lurecraft and m-f sell kits also I beleiev. lurecraft.com Dle w

Believe it or not there is a reason we actually ship in one gal buckets. its due to mixing. I dont like the Gal buckets as much as the next guy, but the problem is if we shipped them out in the antifreeze type bottles they wouldnt get mixed as well. they would get shaken more which cause's air bubbles and doesnt mix as good. Delw
-
The mixer is avail at home depot and wallmart, its a brand name but anything close willwork, they are pleanty long. they look like a squirrell cage with a shaft moled to them that you stick into the drill chuck, they have 3/8s and I thought someone said they had a 1/4 or 5/16 shaft to. As far as getting it out of the bucket for pouring I use my wifes coffee cups. home depot and walmart will also sell 5 gal buckets and I think 1 gal buckets as well. Delw
-
First off I would really clean out the bucket extreamly good. Personally I would just use the bucket it came in. you can buy a turbo paint stirer that hooks up to an electric drill pretty cheap($5-$12) this is the best way to mix any plastic. Dont shake it you wont mix it good enough. you can however if you have another clean bucket transfer back and forth 10 + times Delw

You have to add about 1/8-1/4 cup softener to 1 cup plastic to get it the same as the brush hogs. on there trick worms they tend to be about the same with no softener. Delw

Two Part Mold Revisited...Again and again and again........
Delw replied to cavu's topic in Soft Plastics
Cavu. Shrimps are not that easy too pour they are pretty much impossible. Ive tried to make a mold for one guy he had one of the nicest looking shrimps I have seen I couldnt do it to get the detail like he wanted to, well I could have but then we would have been talking thousands of dollars, 2 other guys That wanted shrimp molds didnt mind the detail very much. one guy decided to go the injection route the other I am making. I cant give out the info on how they were able to get around the leg problem on the hand poured ones but wil say we came up with some pretty creative ways in doing so. if you want and exact shrimp replica plan on injection molding if you want a so-so way pour it out of a molding material that will spread evenly around evry nook and kranny then cut a place out so you can pour the plastic. if you want the legs and antena's you will have to inject them, the body and tail will pour pretty easy, but machineing the mold like this is extreamly costly due to the time it takes to design one. In the first guys mold I had over 60 hours just in programming time alone not to mention test runs and such. I had one guy pour the liquid plaster over a dead shrimp and he does pretty good on selling them. Delw -
Interesting read. mainly you are hooking the fishermen not the fish with the fancy baits. Most bass will bite anything put in front of them, there are a few key factors and they are pretty simple. size (always ) color (some colors) sometimes shape Delw

I will have some insructions up in the next week or so on a tube cutter. the guy who made it says it works fantastic. Delw

M-f has no choice on the prices under 1 gallon or plastic. they have a deal with bass proshops, if they break that deal then they loose the bassproshops account, its a pretty big acount for them Delw

http://www.del-mart.com (calhoun plastic and alum molds) http://www.lurecraft.com (lurecraft plastic and resin molds colors and everything you need) http://www.fishingworld.com/M-F-Manufacturing same as lure craft Delw

1 cup calhoun plastic and about 1/4- 1/5 cup of softener. it gets them pretty soft and they dont tear as easily Delw

Watch useing submersible pumps some of them have plastics that are not compatible with the worm plastic. some of the electrical cords will also get eaten away. you can rig up a few different things, but constantly transferring the liquid from one barrel to another then back (you would need 2 pumps) is the best way. Also if you do transfer it or mix it make sure you let the stuff settle a little bit(2 hours) before heating it. the plastic has a way of trapping airbubbles and this will allow them to raise to the top. Delw
-
You can reheat the plastic as much as you want and it wont scorch. it will generally scorch only if you over heat it. but not by reheating it. I know thats how calhoun, lure craft and m-f work, dont know about zeiners, but I am sure its the same. Delw

Anyone esle having trouble with LC over charging them?
Delw replied to Fish_N_Fool's topic in Soft Plastics
Tm yes I would hate to give a date because I have been wrong before. but its going to be a few months before we are completely stocked up. we are getting colors in slowly, then we have to mix them and make sure they work the way we want. My wife and I run the business its just the 2 of us so things go a little slower than most places. I will be putting something on our website before we actually start selling them to give a heads up. Delw -
DeveryTY very well said, i takes time to package boxs and fill orders, suplies also run a good bill not to mention the charges for ups/fedex to come out and pick things up, this all adds up. do it every day and you spend a good chunk of changes. also need to add in the fact that home shipping is more expesive than to business, and even though you have a business at your home in some case's you still have to pay for home shipping(due to residential areas. years ago Bassproshops used to charge by the dollar amount they made some major money on certain Items(for example a 400-600 reel 700-800 fishing pole even a 2000 dollar firearm you would pay 50-175 bucks shipping. Ive payed more fo shipping on broad heads than the broadheads cost back then. wait for price increases on shipping in the near future by the major shipping companies this would be due to higher gas prices, my freight went up 2 times in the last year Delw

Delw replied to Fish_N_Fool's topic in Soft Plastics
Yes we are going to be carrying colors soon(its alot more work than I thought), I have some now but not in the quanities I want so I can advertise them, as of yet. We got alot of other things coming as well.... Back to the subject. Ive order lots of stuff from lure craft and never had problems, they have always been friendly as well. even had to do a return on a melting pot and they sent out the correct one Immediatly, then sent me a free shipping label to send the old one back. one or 2 bad experiances really doesnt deserve a bad rap. well except fed ex but thats another story got to remember these people deal with hundreds of people everyday. Delw -
I'll share a little story. Bobby and I were playing wiith an injector last year(one of the plastic ones... Mistake 1) had a 2 piece mold and we figured we would inject some plastic into it. We first off I decided I would hold it closed, instead of useing the nuts and pins(mistake 2) so I'm holding the mold, bobbys shooting the injector. heck it was working great when all of a sudden the injector melted. of course it went all over my hand and up my arm. I couldnt get it off fast enough, made it to the sink where the water was but it was too late. the plastic from the injector is worse than the worm plastic. The burned was one of the nastiest I have ever seen, burned right down to the knuckle 1/8-1/4" of skin deep and 1-2 inches long. I was going to fish an everstart touny and was prefishing, couldnt fish worth a crap, couldnt even hold the rod with out the burn cracking and bleeding for a month. I did save $650 cause I wasnt on fish anyway Moral to the story... Dont use those plastic injectors dont do things quick or in a hurry Be careful and wear gloves if you can. Delw

Al, no problem, Tm, everyone is correct on not getting it mixed enough, pour it all back into the 5 gal bucket and get a turbo stirrer(goes on a drill motor) and mixx the heck out of it, then pour it into 1 gal buckets. Now the softness thing. I have had a few guys tell me they used no softener and there stick baits are soft. I ask them to send me a sample and wow they are soft, well come to find out they didnt mix it or mix it well enough. now trying to match it is next to impossible and the consistance is not there when its not mixed throughly Delw
