  1. Ups prices are higher and I have to pay more to get them to pick up. Mainly cause its going from a business address to a home address(it cost more). We have to drive 15 miles to drop it off as well. we have found fed ex is cheaper than everyone. and real happy with there service. Just trying to get the shopping cart to work with fedx is a problem. Delw
  2. I am sitting here at the shop running some custom stuff and also have been playing with a cutter. its a little bit of a pain to make a cutter for this,at least to come up with the idea and make it work. once I have a working cutter remaking them is cake. Geeze I hate razor blades Delw

swimbait molds are on the back burner so to speak. They take a long time to build and they are expensive. Ive made a few big saltwater molds but they are by request do to there is no demand. Delw

I already got the ikas made, just havent put them on the site, along witha few others. my email was suppose to be hooked up last night along with the phones so we will see in a few mins when I head done there. we moved into a little bigger shop, the old shop had my friends in there with me and I couldnt move( it was my shop but all there stuff was in it LOL) around so I took the shop 4 doors down and they stayed in my old shop. been moving for about a week had the phones and internet access down for over a week, should be able to put them up here in the next week. 5. Sam between me and you(ok and the rest of the world ) I been using skirts on most of my worms while fishing. When I texas rig them or put them on a jig head. Ive had extreamly good success as well. Also drop shotting ikas is something people rarely do and its unbelievable how this bait with put fish into the boat. Havent seen the lurecraft mold(for skirts yet) but I will look at it, I will show you a pic of one of mine today if I can find my camera. its pretty simple and you do have to cut the skirt. but the action is awsum. the skirt is out 90 degrees from the body, and last night about 3am I built it into a test grub mold, I dont know why I didnt think of this before cause its awsum and easy to pour, the material is alot thicker so the cost is a tad more but I am going to try to narrow that down. Since there is no tool to cut the skirts for this I will have to design one. Delw
  6. The skirts can be bought direct through yamamoto http://yamamoto.baits.com/cgi-bin/order/11-20?nsuPkxtF;;18 call them and ask about big bags of skirts I do have a mold for tubes and ikas but not just for skirts yet, I like the double skirts that yamamoto sells I would only be able to make molds for single skirts and to be honest after pouring and cutting the skirts it would be dheaper to buy them all ready made. I will have some pictures of completed baits soon, Delw
  7. I like soft baits so if I am not adding salt I add 2 tbls to 1 cup of plastic. Delw
  8. Ive been playing with this idea. With out injection molding it cant be done with one mold,(ive tried it.) Ikas which are made by Yamamoto have glue/fused skirts to them(this is how they make the ikas) Yamamoto sells skirts in bags of 50 and 100 in all there colors. I am working on making a jig to fuse skirts to the grubmolds I sell. I made one for my self and it works fine. How this works is you pour your grubs like normal. take a solder gun and hold it between the skirt and the grub . slide out the solder iron still holding skirt and grub together. works pretty good so far trying to make it to make more than one and with out the solder gun. Super glue works good for doing them also but the glue makes the bait gets a hard spot where they are fused. I also am making Ika like baits in a 2 piece mold. basically its a ribbed body with a tube tail. Delw
  9. AustinTXAngler I believe is correct, when the plastic cools it shrinks one way to fix it is to pour right over the top again or let the plastic cool a tad more Delw
  10. you might want to shoot April del-mart@cox.net over an email she will give you a shipping charge. I think fed-x is much cheaper that usps for back east deliveries. I havent put the fed x shipping info on the cart yet cause I dont like the mod. Delw
  11. Tony I know a guy here in AZ that use's ceramics like you describe and the baits are extreamly nice with a nice finish Delw
  12. Mike the first time I did the blender trick I got a big wiff of salt and thought I was going to die. Everything burned from my lungs to my nose Delw
  13. Tim Thats a difficult question to answer, alot of people dont like to give that info out for some reason or another. I know a few guys that do extreamly well selling soft baits on line and I know some that do even batter selling them offline. there are also some that dont do so well. Main thing is start off slow and work it up slow, dont go into debt over something you have no control over. Delw
  14. Vishez fish. email me at delw@del-mart.com and we will talk about it. dont want to use jerrys site as a quote board. Delw
  15. From what i heard sea salt has moisture in it. regular salt works fine if you blend it into a powder. I just bought a couple hundred lbs of some salt that is like flour, you breath and it makes a cloud its extreamly fine. it has worked good for me, we been thinking of offering it for sale but not sure yet. 16. This is a plastic formula to help you get started on making Stik Baits. While it might not be the exact one for you it will get you close. In a 2 cup pyrex measuring cup mix: 1 cups of Calhoun Plastic. 1/4 cup Calhoun Softener Add colors (before heat or after) put in the microwave till the plastic is ready to pour (follow the microwave instructions) then take a teaspoon and slowly stir while adding in 1/2 cup of salt (salt works best when its gound in a blender tp a light powder). when everything is mixed thourghly put back in microwave and heat and stir in 30 second intervals until plastic is hot and the consistantsy you want. Pour from measuring cup stirring after every 1-3 cavities Salt gives the Stiks weight for the sink rate. you can add more or less salt for your desired sink rate. Salt also makes the baits harder(stiffens the bait) in order to make your bait soft and flexible like the real thing you add softener. The more salt you add the more softener you add. The above formula is a good starter. Notes: when adding colors to baits with salt inplastic you will have to add more color than normal. The salt is white and throws the color off a little. For example lets say you have a nice watermellon color with black fleck That you want in a Stik Bait. to get this you add 5 drops of watermellon color in one cup of plastic. to get this same color you might have to add 25-30 drops of watermellon to the Stik formula. All colors vary from color manufactures. Grinding salt in a blender is easy and not messy. When using a blender just add enough salt to go over the blades about 1". If you go to much (more than an inch) you will burn up your blender , If you go to the blades or below you will have a big salt dust cloud when you take the top off the blender. Delw

    stirrers?

Red as a matter of fact I have. I never thought about it much till you metioned. they must have a bit of moisture in them. I like the popcicle stik Idea. Chop sticks sound pretty good also. Delw
  18. The microwave doesnt work very well on old plastics. most of the plastic from major bait companies is injection plastic not the hand pour type like calhoun, lure craft and mf. There is a big difference, some of the plastic doesnt even firm back up after remelted in the MW Delw

    stirrers?

I use bamboo skewers to stir my plastic...thats what i've always used and it has always worked for me. Thats funny, cause I been using the same for years now. My wife gets them at the dollar store in hundred packs. I break them in half and use them to stir all my plastic. Delw

  21. BIGZ you can have this weather its hotter than Heck right now. I am working on my boat(putting a kick ass stereo in it) and its too hot to do that. the eye candy is always good at the lakes though Senkosam good point on the glitter and pouring through the small spout, salt will have problems as well. Delw
  22. finlander Sounds to me like you didnt stir the plastic enough before you poured it. DONT shake it STIR It and stir it good. I use cake beaters on a 1 gal pail and a turbo stirrer with a drill on a 5 gal pale. it must be stirred good. As far as the glitter and color you can heat it again in the microwave as lng as it isnt alum glitter, lure craft and m-f is polyester glitter. I have heated alum glitter in the microwave and had no problems, but its not recomended. CAlhoun plastic us just like any other plastic as far as mixing. Delw
  23. I prefer the microwave, hwoever after about 5 mins of pouring its time to nuke it again, or when you fill up your molds you have to wait before you poir again and your plastic is cooled off to much. one way around it is to fill your pots up with the microwaved plastic. just to keep the plastic warm. but then the down side of the pots is cleaning in between colors. where as pyrex it peels right out. the nice thing about microwaving plastic is that it dont stink or smoke like in a pot(calhoun doesnt anyhow and m-f is minimul) so I can use my wifes microwave. 24. TRy adding some Flo yellow to it. Delw
