Darryl Do it easy forst to make sure you like it. start with a kit from bassproshops, m-f or lurecraft. this way you get a small amount and it doesnt cost you an arm and a leg. to heat the plastic start off useing your microwave(again saveing money) then once you decide you want to do this then start buying stuff. Like bigspash said there are many articles if you use the search engine. Everyone here is very helpfull as well, so ask questions Delw

Fireball those mills wood work but you will need to add good bearing to the spindle so you can do side cutting. the bearings in them now are mainly for drilling bearings probally run about 20 bucks for 2 I. B. Cranking: What I mean by pushing is instead of cutting the endmill is rubbing(pushing) the material. When cutting on light duty machines you actually want the tool to flex. this will put a constant load on the bearsing to one side so you dont get chatter/vibration. you can also help the rigidity of your machine by getting rid of the collet and putting in a sleeve. Collets are not good for endmills at all. get a sleev in there with one slot and maybe a flat to tighten it down. you can modify your holder to use both. The main this is , is to keep that tool as close to the org spindle as you can. Delw

If it dont weigh at least 500 lbs its not good for cutting alum or any hard metal. the mini mills where are they from? the mills in the pics wont cut alum , steel your best bet is to save your change and buy a used hand mill looks in the paper you can get a bridgeport or look alike mill forunder 1000. ive seen them done to 200 bucks. a retorfit kit can cost anywhere from 500 bucks to 20,000 Delw

Ryan. When using salt in the mixture you have to add about 50-75% more color. due to the salt being white(most salts) I use the standard colors from lure craft and I can make them see thru by adding less color. I can make the dark by adding more color. Like the bluefleck ones I made look at the drops I have to ad 75 drops of black grape and 100+ or red. all this depends on how consistant your colors are from the place you buy them. I buy mine from lure craft and have had to add 25% more sometimes and 25% less sometimes. it also depends on how good the colors are mixed as well. drop a few small bearings in the color bottle and shake the crap out of it. if the colors been sitting for a day or more you might have to shake them for 3-5 mins. oh the bigger the bottle the bigger the ball bearings. David. Thats what I was thinking of the .plt file(plotter file). thanks. That would save someone a ton of money. if someone is good at writing scripts they can write one for a plot file to add in the g c0de. Delw

Heres a few things you can do, fisrt thing is to upgrade the acme thread or all thread from 1/4 to an absolute min of 5/8. run a 2 inch long nut (that attached to the table) made out of oil light or bronze. goto your local machine shop and have the table built with 1" min alum plate then replace the dremil tool with a router. Also in the vid the cutting tool is stick way to far out of the chuck, if you just shorten that you can increase your feed rates. #1 thing is rigidity the dremil should be changed. Another thing to do is buy a drill press(just a cheap 100 dollar one) replace the bearing so you can side cut(about 20-30 bucks) use the drill press spindle for the spindle on the existing machine. As far as code. if your good with cad systems ie auto cad even autocad lite. When you make any drawing they all produce numbers(I forget the exact meathod to get them) you can copy them for your code and add very little text(mainly you would add the g-codes and m functions) Also for tooling in a machine that is not rigid dont not use carbide. use tool steel for wood and plastic(use water and a soap mixture for plastic or buy coolant) carbide is not as sharp as tool steels and is to rigid to cut with. I noticed that in the vid that the tool is pushing and not cuttting, what bit(tool) were you using? when tools are not cutting they put vibrations into the machines. if you want a good table goto a machinery tool place and buy a scrapped hand mill(bridge port). you can rebuild them and add cnc retrofits. Now granted I mainly mess with retrofits and machines that use dc and ac spidle drives and and spindle controls for adjusting spindle speeds, but there are mainly things you can do cheaply to make a cnc machine Just remember one thing rigidity is the one thing that makes a machine work. there are mainy ways to do this and stilll have a machine that weighs under 300 lbs and should cut your parts in a few mins. Scotts right on the amount of time for research into the colors, My wife is doing that and has been for about 3 months to go with the plastic we sell. We have gotten quite a bit of sample colors from people but they dont work with plastolo, looks liek she finally found the place though. There are also special ways you have to mix the pigment with the plastolo to get it to mix right and stay mixed. Lurecraft and m-f dilute theres quite a bit, also if you let it set for s few days it will settle, April's [retty much found a way and type of color that doesnt settle, she is still working on it. I am to busy to mess with it so thats her ball game. I am just making molds and fishing the rest is her's LOL. What we have found that if you dont have pretty much everything for the lure making industry your going to loose lots of sales. And it takes some major money to stock up. for example the glitters easy grand gone just to get the basic colors(and packageing) for resale, then the colors another 2k-4k. plus all the containers to put the stuff in. We are hoping to have everything online buy the 1st of jan. she wanted it before x-mas but thats pushing it. Delw

if your mixing salt (ie stiks) use 50 drops black grape and 75 drops of red in 2 cups of plastic including salt. Basically you want more red than black grape. Delw

Ryan You can use the lee pouring pots. but you need to mix the salt constantly, some guys use a drill press to stir the salt constantly. to use the pouring pots take the bottom off(4screws) and turn it 180? then put screws back in. Raise the pot with 2X4s and screw it to the table. I use my wifes microwave, with calhoon plastic I dont get any stink what so ever. I pour them out of a 2 cup pyrex pouring cup. Thanks Delw

John Glad you liked them. hope they work out well for you. Delw

heres a pic of what I use Chirmy hook size's range from #12-#4, Lake mead would be the spot to use it, I know a guy using them there on the bigger tournys. I ties it on just like a reg dropshot hook Red. !0 feet of water would be awsum to fish in Woodsac, most of my drop shotting in the spring summer and fall is on the banks and shaking it back to the boat, with big and small worms we used from 2"-10" worms I also dropshot my stiks both wacky and nose hooked. Tubes are great for drop shotting also. But my all time favorite in both deep and shallow clear and dirty water is my 4" straight dropshot worm in see through pink. I kid you not. Hottest color out last year. (at least one of my buddies won a ton of money on it). I like to make them really soft to were the melt in your hand and only nose hook them. Delw
