  1. Well I decided to come back and visit. Way back I was building a fair amount of tackle and participated in a tackle swap with some of the names above. Still have some of that … great work and quality! Got sponsored then got away from making tackle. Now retired so with all the extra time (ya right) trying to get back to it. Glad to see the site is still going. And ironically I was still a member Thanks! TM
  2. I agree....nice job! Keep it up
  3. That's interesting. Never tried it that way. Is the effect any different than painting and then the epoxy coat? What kind of paint do you use? I use Createx (water based). Would you expect any problem?
  4. Hi guys. Just wanted to let you know about the Legendary Lures Prop Job and their support. The following is a private mail sent between LL and myself: "Hi LL, I hope the summer's going great for you. I wanted to let you know I was out on the water yesterday, and the fishing was tough. The lake I was on (Lake Simcoe, Ontario, Canada) traditional is a great smallmouth fishery. You could see the fish, but not get them to bite. I had tried everything, and then tied on your prop job, that I received in the tackle swap on the other board. Two cast and I had a boil. Missed the fish, Another cast and I had it on. Well after a good fight I had her beside the boat. 5 plus ( I think). The guy fishing with me could not believe what he saw. I thought she was tuckered out and went to lip her into the boat...she ran and snapped the line....duh! Needless to say I watched her swim away with that prop job smiling at me all the way back to the bottom. Tried other prop baits for the rest of the day ( including some of the other ones from the swap ) and was able to catch only one more...no where close to the size. So first off, thanks for the lure...it was exhilarating!......(etc.)" He had more made up and shipped them off prompty. As well as some "good will" in the box! I highly recommend Legendary Lures. Excellent quality and great support!!! I CAN'T WAIT.................. Great Fishing!
  5. That's interesting Paul. I thought that the Walleye season was just terrible due to the cool spring we've had. But you may have hit the nail here. This year I've been running late and get my jigs done the night before, which means they are not as "cured" as usual... and my catch is way down. The bite has been extremely light! and the numbers are small. Have you tried baking them? And, what about adding a drop or two of scent like YUM into the epoxy? Bass are a differnet story ( which incidently opens up next week) and not as finnicky as Walleye. I don't think they "investigate" as well. In fact my bass catch is high, which is surprising. Since we're so close to bass season I probably won't have an oppertuntiy to try it on Walleye, but I'm going to mix up some epoxy today with a little scent in it and maybe get out later this week and see if there's a difference. Great question Paul!!!!
  6. Hey merc. Don't discount Pink. My color actually is bubble gum. I have had tremendous success with it. I use both 6-8" worms and Sluggo type. I have hit good fish on worms when nothing else would catch. I was in a tourney once with a couple of guys fishing beside us. They had that look. They new something we didn't. They were throwing BG sluggos on top of floating weed mats. They couldn't reel fast enough. They wouold through it out and before it hit scream it in!. I had one with me. I tried the same thing. The bass were flying through the weeds to kill that thing!Unforunately too little too late. We boated four fish in the last half hour and had to go. They won the tourney!!!!
  7. Hey Celt, Being a s/b man I know it's always the first choice and it should be. But, I don't see any mention on tubes here. Jerk baits like Flukes and tubes go well together. The Jerk I would use in deeper water. Throw natural color and 10lb line. Throw it out on a spinning rig. Let it sit and then jerk it irradically, and quickly. Stop. Do it again. With the tube. Light weight head (1/16th to 1/4) 6-8lb line(whatever you feel more comfortable with, inside, half way back. Let it fall and drag it .....slooooowly. If you see any offf colored obstruction in the water ie. dark patch in light water...light patch in dark water...stop....wait....wait. If a fish picks it up it will feel like electricity...set! Don't forget to skip tubes under docks...way to the back! Good luck...kick some butt
  8. Hey Celt, I know that most often we go to tackle suppliers for components. I've had tremendous success at Michael's. The have all kinds of bead bracelet stuff and the have metal cylinders in silver and gunmetal that are great!. They also have plastic in prism and various other colors. Not as heavy but not bad. Great browsing...lots of idea material. Hope that helps!
  9. Thanks Deadly...this is great infomation. I'll try the laquer...and you have a great Eastern too!!!
  10. Well, that's great! I didn't realize the different types of hair in the bucktail. None too soon! I'm probably starting this weekend. So the information is timely. One more question... I remember Celt asking about clear laquer in another post (somewhere) and I don't think it was ever answered (?????). Clear laquer???Anything in particular...brand name...does it matter???? Thanks again guys!
  11. OK? So what you're saying is the thickness and length would determine it. In most cases walleye jigs are bucktail or maribou. With bucktail, when you tighten up on the tie, it flairs. How can you control the thickness? I know you can trim it...is there a way to control the profile? And the collar also seems to be a concern. I keep wrapping thread to build up the collar. Is that the only way to build it up? It's a lot of winds. I try to bring the collar up to a little less than the head (per the protottype) Thanks
  12. Just a thought? What about if you had the tube machined down about 2-3 mil about 1.5 to 2 " down the length. Then drill a few small holes in the shoulder you've created. Marabou has a stem on it. Insert the stem into the drilled holes. When you dip, dip past the collar about 3-4 mill. Wouldn't that secure the marabou? Bit expensive, and a bit of front end work. Maybe? Sound s like a great Walleye lure?
  13. Great lookin' blade. Let's us know how it works. Great crawfish color?
  14. I was thinking of something like that Celt, but I guess there are two veins of thought. Obviously a pizza cutter style with small nickel size blades, but keeping them seperated would be a little difficult. On the other hand straight blades ( like the industrial type in scapers) probably easier and easier to change. You could put 4 side by side and pull. But wouldn't it rip the plastic? We'll give it try though... thanks guys!
  15. Great site... In all the ecitement, started posting and forgot to stop here. Better late than never! Lookin' forward to this!
