  1. Thanks Ted, I really was impressed watching you do this at the TU meet. You made it look so easy. You are definitely the master. We didn't spend a lot of time tying to correct the ones that had been pre-baked I was just surprised that it wouldn't flow on top of the already baked White. I just won't do that again. No more baking before highlights.
  2. Thanks, I am going to give it a try with the air brush
  3. Can you leave it in the gun or do you need to clean it out after each use? does it clean up with "water"? or do you need laq thinner?
  4. Columbia Coatings, powderbythepound, powder365 I am not sure if all of these have it or not, but I know at least one of them will
  5. i use Chrome and have no problems. when I want to read a message, I hold the "ctrl" button down and click on the link that I want to open, this opens in a new Tab, so I will click on 5 or 6 links and have 5 or 6 tabs open, then I go to each tab to read, when I am done I close it and then go to another tab, so I never use the back button. Don't know if it works. The reason I use this method is I have dial up for years and I did this so the pages could be loading while I was reading. then when I was done reading a page hopefully the next one would already be loaded. Back to your question, I have not had any trouble with a page not loading or error messages. I do get a error message when I try to do go to "view new content" when I am not signed in.
  6. It is a liquid you mix with powder paint to make it a liquid so you can shoot it through a paint gun and then bake it in an oven.
  7. thanks TJ. I am putting the powder on with a brush. Put some powder on the brush and tapping to put the powder on top of the jig. It worked great on heads that were powder painted not baked. I used the powder water for the 1st time today. We painted a shad spot using the powder water it worked good. I have thought about buying a powder spray gun, small like an air brush, to do the highlights with powder. I have an old Badger air brush I thought about trying to make it work. Has anyone used the powder water to spray through an air brush?
  8. I powder painted some heads white with a fluid bed. Baked the powder then decided to add chartreuse as a highlight color. when I tried to bake the chartreuse, it did not flow like I thought it should. I had do some others, but I did not bake before adding the chartreuse and those look good. I thought the chartreuse would flow on the already baked heads but I guess not. Has anyone tried to add powder after baking and then re-bake? Thanks,
  9. That's interesting. Do you have any sloop when fit together? I have been milling with a 3/16" bit to .250' and then use a reamer. I like the way the smaller pins fit the 2 halves better. With the 1/8" dia. and the 3/16" pin sticking out. Now, I have not made anything with the 1/8, I was looking at a mold that belonged to someone else. I got my pins and reamers today. I am going to try the smaller ones to see. I like the sound of your method, but I think I want it smaller.

    Custom Mold

Thanks. yes, most of the time.
  11. I have some that cost about $20, the brand is Damascus. We use them to put on split rings. I have had the cheaper ones and we wear them out in no time. the Damascus pliers we have had 4 or 5 yeas and still look good.

  16. thanks for the replies, I tried MSC, Enco, Google, and didn't find anything better than MCC (McMaster Carr). Actually MSC had some that were cheaper, but the reamer was higher, so I guess I will go with MCC. Here is a pic with the 3/16 pin.this is a 1/16oz lead head #4 hook, 1"x1.25" mold. I may go with the 1/8 so it will be easier to put the mold together. Probably use LocTite Stud and Bearing to lock in the bottom pins. thanks for your thoughts on this.
  17. I am trying to find some guide pins like the ones they use on aluminum molds. I have only seen these in one mold and it was not from any of the mold makers that are referred to here. I didn't take any measurements of it I have been using a 1/4" dia. x 1/2" long dowel pin and it is a little too big. McMasterCarr has a 3/16"x3/8" dowel that I may go with. I would like to have a bullet nose pin but the ones I have found are 2-3 bucks each. Does anyone know of something better than what I have found at McMaster Carr? thanks,
  18. If you are spincasting, softer lead will make it worse. For example, straight wheel has around 1 to 2% antimony. Antimony is what make it hard. I run a 5% antimony for spincasting. If I am having trouble with incomplete pours in hand pouring, I will use harder lead to help it pour better. It is harder to break off, no pun intended.
  19. saving money depends on how much your time is worth.
  20. If you are using a melting pot, 1 pound of lead will not be enough to pour 32 half ounce jigs because when you pour it lead a "spru" that you have to break off later. If you are using a 10 pound pot you ought to have 6 to 10 lbs of lead. but yes, 32 half ounce jigs weighs 1 pound. Your mold might be a little heavy or a little light. All Do-It molds don't always weigh what they say on the mold.
  21. Have you used this? It sounds too good to be true I called the tech dept and was a long wait. I may call back, but I like the Non-Smoking Non-Fuming Odorless part.
  22. that's a neat idea. thanks for the tip
  23. Here is the one I got from HF http://www.harborfreight.com/5-speed-drill-press-38119.html
  24. You're getting pretty picky I found one at a Menards for around $100. It was their cheapest, don't remember the brand but I thought it looked really good for the price.. I don't think they have Menards in Texas. I bought one from Harbor Freight for $50 and it does the job for me. I don't use it very often. It lacks a little power for drilling 1/4" holes in aluminum, just have to go slower. I don't know if this one would meet your expectations or not.
