  1. Wow! My monitor was so hot it burned me when I touched it. One good thing about this bunch is that most are willing to share their opinion. Cal
  2. I never thought about anyone putting offensive pictures on this forum. I guess I am just naive. I suppose it would be a good idea to screen things. Cal
  3. who you gotta ask to show your own baits? Just wonderin out loud Cal
  4. I have fished both the laminates and the tipped stick baits. I like the ones with a chartreuse tail. I do a poor imitation of Al's color Hell Fire in a stick bait. It works. Sometimes I can catch fish with that when nothing else works. Like right after a cold front. Cal
  5. I am stuck on plum with blue glitter in the 5 inch sticks. It is working real good and I hate to fix something that isn't broken. 4 oz plastic 6 drops LC Plum 1/4 teaspoonful Medium Blue Glitter About 20 ml of salt Cal
  6. I add heat stabilizer to most all of my plastic. It keeps the plastic from scorching and I believe it helps keep the colors from changing at higher temps. Just my two cents worth. Cal
  7. I am having trouble posting a reply. I tried 5 times before it would let me post. It kept bringing me out to the forums menu. Not complaining, just givin you the info. Thanks for making and maintaining a wonderful sight!. Cal
  8. Leave the loops as is. That is just the way the bait is made. A very good bait I might add. I make a dark blue color with medium blue flake. Dynamite on bass here this time of year. Watermelon with red flake is good as well. You can't go wrong with it. Cal
  9. I really like the new look! It loads faster too! I have one question, why black and white when there all kinds of color possibilities? This is not a complaint, I just wondered. : I kinda went through withdrawal while the site was down. Don't know what I would do without it. Thanks Cal
  10. Give us some clue as to what colors and their manufacturers you are using, also what kind of plastic, salt, etc. Cal
  11. Here is an English to metric conversion. This is approximate not exact. It is exact to whole numbers only, not fractions of a ml. English to Metric Conversion Table ___Gallon Quart Pint Ounces Tablespoon Teaspoon ML 3840 960 480 30 15 5 Will repost later when I can get this to format properly
  12. I have done well using it on flukes. Oxblood belly, Minnow silver body, and blue back. I have also caught some on my oxblood senko type baits. Cal
  13. I use LC Oxblood, but it's not quite what I wanted. I added a few things to the color. It is listed as Wild Boar's Blood in the Soft Plastic Cookbook. Cal
  14. I take a piece of wire and put a loop on one end. I then stack the weights on the wire. I usually put on 4 or 5 bullet weights. I put a bend in the opposite end of the wire and hang the wire with weights in an oven or on the wire shield on a wall heater. I let the weights heat up and the roll the weights on the wire in a pan of powder paint. Works pretty well, but not perfect. Cal
  15. I believe that the Lure Craft kit gives you more different kinds of baits. That is the one I picked. I would do it again. Cal
  16. I use nylon rod wrapping thread. It really holds! Place the jig in a vice. Take a bobbin and tie a couple of half hitches on the jig body. I use living rubber, so I put the skirt material on backwards. Take the bobbin and wrap around the skirt material you are holding in place. Wrap each layer of material and tie off with a couple of half hitches. Then coat the wrap with head cement or clear nail polish will work. Pull the ends of the living rubber strips and cut the strips with scissors near your hand that you are pulling with. The skirt unzips and that's all there is to it. If you need more help, PM me. Cal
  17. Hello, And welcome aboard!. By the way, there is a wire bait forum that will give you all kinds of info on lead, jigs, spinner baits etc. I use a microwave and Lure Craft plastic. I have to use up what I have, before I can order more. I make some of my molds, but Del-Mart and Bob's Tackle Shop have aluminum molds and they are great. They never wear out. The Lure Craft molds will get to where they will not make a shiny bait after a lot of use. If you are going to use any Senko type baits, I recommend the aluminum two piece molds available from Del and Bob. Lure Craft has the best selection of colors, but I use both Lure Craft and MF colors. No one place has the best of everything. Stay away from the Jann's Netcraft plastic injector and molds. They are nothing but grief. I buy stuff from Jann's but not molds. Good ventilation is important!!!!! A respirator is a good investment. I use mine when it is too cold to open the garage door. Lots of luck on your surgery!! And I hope you know that you are starting a hobby that is more addicting than heroin. My wife is looking for a cure for that hobby as well as fishing and hunting addiction. I am not addicted, I just got to do it! See ya on the forums Cal
  18. Here are a couple of sites. I have used tube jigs from both these companies. Both have good service and good products. http://www.tacklethis.com/gama.html http://www.daimonlures.com/ Cal
  19. I fish in a 17 ft Tracker Targa with baitwells as well as livewells. 90 hp Mercury, 2 humminbirds, motorguide pro 70 trollin motor. I also use a 1958 15 ft. Lone Star aluminum boat. (Don't make them that good any more, was made by former air craft builders). small motorguide trolling motor and a portable humminbird. You can get back in the shallow rough places with this boat. Not very comfortable, but it has lots of memories. I trotlined with it during the 60's. Bass fished back in the brush on Toledo Bend with it in the early 70's. Dad left it to me and I wouldn't take anything for it. Cal
  20. It comes with 10 pages in each side, but I believe it will hold another 10 on each side. I am going to Bass Pro Saturday to get some more pages and will be able to tell you when I get back. Cal
  21. I just bought the Bass Pro Shops Extreme Jumbo Double Worm Binder. It is a pretty big bag. It even has a shoulder strap. I like it. Cal
  22. I use at least a ml for eac ounce of plastisol. It keeps the plastic from scorching and the colors from changing. Could be my imagination, but I believe the glitter works better as well. Cal
  23. I haven't had any green pumpkin fade on me (yet). Got a few over a year old. MF does have a consistency problem. I am using 3 times as much watermelon now than I was with the previous batch. I haven't tried lurecraft's watermelon. Anyone else got an opinion on which watermelon? Cal
  24. Got my catalog 2 days ago. Anyone seen this lumina stuff in a bait yet? Cal
  25. Great baits Brad! Welcome to the Underground. Cal
