  1. Mojo is right on! Got to overfill and watch that it doesn't go down to far. If it does, fill again. Cal
  2. I don't know who the Pour Boy is, but he has some good looking baits on Ebay. Anyone want to fess up? Cal
  3. I add 1 ml to 60 ml plastisol. It works for me. Cal
  4. The TU auction could be a great boon to the guys selling their lures. From what I understand, Ebay is sucking the life out of them. Anybody got any ideas how we could get the word out to fishermen about the auctions? Just an idea
  5. I have yet to see a rod any better than the mh 6'6" Falcon Original Series rod. It is light enough that us old guys can throw it all day long. It has the backbone to set the hook and land big bass. I have used it with crankbaits with much success, but I prefer a medium action rod for crankers. I would like to try the new Cara series, but if it is any better than the Original, I don't think I could stand it.
  6. Those prototypes look really nice. I would throw each of them with great confidence. The only question I have, is wouldn't those baits do just as well being poured in a once piece mold? Just a thought. Cal
  7. I would be glad to add text to some pics as long as it didn't get out of hand. I would be willing to do it for a few samples. I have been wanting some of Chris's meathead and long eel worms any way. . Some of Ghostbaits slithers and creatures would be nice too. . Let me know if I can be of assistance Cal
  8. I don't see any junk in that picture! I would throw every one of those tubes. By the way, how long are those tubes? Cal
  9. Wow!! Those are really great. You get a 10 from me. Better than any tubes I ever did Show us more and closer pictures.
  10. I am using Jasc Paint Shop Photo Album software. It is real easy to add text to the picture. It isn't very expensive and does a really great job. I am sending an example that took about 30 seconds to add the print.
  11. What was the deal with the auctions getting withdrawn? I can't image plastic worms being dangerous, immoral, or illegal. That defies reason! Cal
  12. I made plaster molds for making jigs many years ago. It was a real pain in the butt and they didn't last long. The only thing that I can say good about them is that they are good for making prototypes. Other than that, try to get some aluminum molds. They are much better. On another note, I have been using Durham's water putty to make molds for soft plastics. When baked, it makes a real hard mold. Don't know how long it would last, but I know it would be better than plaster. Hope this info helps. Cal
  13. If you cut the tube as far as the Ika skirt, it will spread out too. You could take a senko type stick mold and cut off part of it. Dip a tube and cut it most of the way up. Fuse the two together with super glue or the pro (whatever) glue that is made specifically for soft plastics. I have some of that glue, but can't think of the name of it. I does work well. It would be a bit of trouble, but it would work. Cal
  14. I dip in pyrex. I reheat and stir often. That takes a lot of time and pain, but I don't do enough of them to justify a pot. I have been told that a deep fryer would work, but I don't know about the temperature control. Anybody with any experience with the deep fryer, please enlighten us. Thanks Cal
  15. do a search on tubes there is a bunch of info on tubes. You don't have to have a mold. I dip bolts and the tubes come out fine. Cal
  16. I use 5 inch bolts that I mark at 4 inches. I don't precoat the bolt with anything. Get your plastic hot. Dip the bolt and pull it out. Let some drain off and flip the bolt with the head side down. I fixed a board with holes in it to hold the bolts while they are cooling. I dip again once or twice more, according to what kind of tubes I want. You can also dip once in chartruese or some other color. This makes the tail. Then dip in the head color a couple of times. Don't dip completely, just to where you want the different colored tail to start. Yes it not easy, and you sure don't want to try to do them for others, but they give you a lot of satisfaction catching fish on tubes you make. I made a dark blue tube with blue gitter and a chartreuse tail last year. Caught a bunch of fish on that. Hope this helps Cal
  17. Colors Green Pumpkin, Pumpkinseed, Crawfish Glitter Green, Red, Purple Hope this helps. Cal
  18. If you want something with scent but a little more subtle, try Lure Craft scents. The garlic is the most potent. Watch it. Cal
  19. I use measuring spoons as well. Gives good consistency. Cal
  20. I use worm oil with some scent in it. The baits look real shiny when you pull them out of the bag. Cal
  21. Thanks for the info. I knew you guys would know the answer. Thanks Cal
  22. I have heard a lot about Aaron's Magic. Does anyone know who Aaron is? If so, is he still making baits? I guess I am a trivia nut.
  23. Yep, sounds like it wasn't mixed well enough. Put a big steel nut or washers in the gallon jug and shake it like you are trying to kill it It is hard to learn to do something without hands on help. Keep trying and asking questions. I promise it will get better.
  24. Worm oil the blades and take a hammer to the cutter. Be sure you have the tubes on a cutting mat or soft wood. Soft wood works ok, but you have to dig a few particles out of the tube tentacles I couldn't make it work without a stanley 12 oz hammer. Cal
  25. Does anyone know what happened to the website Dropshotstore.com? I noticed the store is no more. Cal
