  4. Notice that BassnG3 is putting some red and a little black in the red portion. This is the way I do it, in almost the exact quantities. Good Luck Cal
  5. 5 gallons and as much glitter and color as your credit card will stand! Making soft baits is addicting. The color combinations and types of baits are limited only by your imagination. Good Luck and I hope this doesn't cause a divorce if you are married Cal
  6. See, I told you it might blow your head off. Caution is the word of the day, every day. Cal
  7. It would probably be a little overkill. Or it could cause an explosion and blow your head off. Let us know. Cal
  8. Been having the same problem with ceramic mold coated with devcon. I coated the molds twice. Heater keeps the building about 60 or above. I pour a couple of baits in the mold, then it stops. Only the fluke molds are doing that. ?? Cal

We have some really sharp, inventive guys here on Tackle Underground. I bet some of them could come up with a plastic injector that would really work! That would be great for two peice molds with thin pieces. Any ideas?
  13. I just bought 4 ceramic fluke molds from norcalfishing on EBay. They work great! Only problem is you have to coat them with devcon before you use them. I have started using respirator when coating molds. The acetone and epoxy about did me in the last time. Cal

Been there, done that, never again! I ended up with hot plastic all over my hands. Plastic stuck to the inside of the injector. Injector cooled off very quickly. Need I say more. Cal
  15. I make a chartreuse with silver glitter stick bait. It worked real well just before dark last year. It was my go to color at just about dark.
  16. Most of my colors are from Lure Craft, but I use MF Watermelon. It looks better to me. I use about 12 drops per 2 oz. of plastic. Barlow's Tackle Shop carries MF colors. Barlows are in Richardson Texas and they ship pretty quickly. Hope this helps. Cal
  17. I entered my version of oxblood in the cookbook. LC's is too orange for my taste. The LC oxblood is very thick. Sounds like you may have a bottle that isn't mixed right or wasn't shaken well enough Cal
  18. Oh yea, I have been heating my salt in the microwave before grinding it in the hope of eliminating some of the humidity in the salt. I believe that it makes the salt suspend better in the plastic. Could be my imagination, I don't have any tests to prove the theory. Anyway, water and plastic don't mix so who knows. Cal
  19. I use salt I bought from Lure Craft. It is a little finer than table salt. It works real well in the grinder. Cal
  20. While I was out Christmas shopping, I picked up an Ove Glove. I saw it advertised on TV. It is really good for picking up hot beakers of plastic. It will however get a little warm if you hold a hot beaker for a long time. Just thought I would pass this along Calvin
  21. I know this is off topic, but I wanted to wish all of the soft plastic forum members a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! I appreciate you friendship and help this year! Cal
  22. Wild Boar's Blood Stick Formula (A hog hunter's version of Ox Blood) Plastisol 120 ml Heat Stabilizer 2 ml. LC Oxblood 12 drops LC Pumpkinseed 6 drops LC Red 2 drops Black Flake 1/8 tsp (Optional) I add about 5 teaspoonful of ground salt to this formula
  23. Where can you get Envirotex Lite? I may want to try that. Thanks Cal
  24. I have been catching fish on lures that I have made since I was a child. There is nothing like the satisfaction of doing something from start to finish. Especially if you outfish other folks you know. The only thing you have to contend with is all the friends you will have when you start making baits. Cal
  25. I bought some ceramic molds from the moldman on Ebay. I like the molds, but he coated them with some sort of acrylic. I have poured several baits in them as he suggested, but the finish is still dull on the baits. Anyone had any experience coating over the coating on these molds? I don't want to curdle the finish, I don't think the bass will go for the crackle look. I would appreciate any help. Cal
