  1. TM, hope your hand gets better. Did you have it x-rayed? It's terrible not to be able to fish or make baits! I have bronchitis right now and can't go either. The medicine they are giving me makes me real shaaakkeey . No telling what my pours will look like . Hang in there! Cal
  2. I don't know about mizmos, never used them. I put about 20% to 30% salt in mine. Got to keep stirring or the salt will settle and you will have 60% to 70% salt and that is too stiff and has no flexibility or softness. I hope this helps. Cal
  3. I use Lure Craft 500. It is a little tougher than 502. Cal
  4. The color of fish here can vary from lake to lake in the same immediate area, sometimes even in the same lake like Texoma. Beauty is in the eye of the buyer or the fisherman, er better make that the fish! I think you did a great job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. I use water putty to make my molds. Works great. I have only one problem. I have been using super glue to glue my original (usually another soft bait or one I have pieced together). I am molding in a tough plastic solid container. Sometimes the originals don't hold and I get a head too deep or tail too deep, etc. Anyone got any other ideas on gluing the master down? Thanks Cal
  6. Hey Mojo, You are only 30 miles from me. I am in Madill. What kind of baits are you making? We may have to get together and swap ideas. Cal
  7. Sign me up!!!!!!!!!!!!! My first swap Cal
  8. Well Chris, that is another problem. The only one that will have those is a compounding pharmacist. I know, because I are one . I bet you have one in the area close. Check your phone book, or call your doctor's office they will know one. Most are owned by individual pharmacists. I bet the pharmacist will be a fisherman and you can trade worms for stuff. If he won't trade, he is crazy. You have the best hand pours I have ever seen. Cal
  9. I can tell you what I know about syringes. You would need a syringe for each color. There is 20 to 25 drops per ml or cc (varies with the opening size of the dropper). There are caps called adaptacaps that are designed to fit oral syringes. The one major problem is the cost. The 1 ml oral syringes would run about 30 to 50 cents apeice and the adaptacaps would probably run close to a dollar apeice. That could get expensive if you have many colors. I will also have to see if they make and adaptacap that small. Cal
  10. I use Lure Craft 300 saltwater plastic and I use their tube cutter as well. There are better cutters around, but this is cheap and works well enough if you are only doing it for yourself and your friends and family. Ever notice how many friends and family you have when you are making baits? Oh yea, be sure to put plenty of worm oil on the cutter before you use it. I use 5 inch bolts in varying sizes do dip with. I have a large pyrex cup that I heat the plastic in the microwave. I dip a few and reheat. Slow but cheap. Hope this helps. Cal
  11. I thought that I was the only messy marvin that couldn't keep his color bottles clean!!! MF is by far the worst with the flat top. I know there must be some obsessive, compulsive person that has the answer to this. Come on fess up and we won't make fun of your neurosis. Cal
  12. Glue gun or the gun that Lure Craft sells is worthless. The only way to do it is practice, practice, practice. On another note, Chris I too believe that you have the best veins and combo colors that I have ever seen. Now, how about sharing that Mississippi Mud crawfish color? Cal
  13. Welcome Back Nathan!! Cal
  14. Bass go after wounded bait very quickly. Now is it the smell, taste or sight that triggers the strike. I don't know for sure, but I sure like to feel him on the other end of that string. I do feel that they will hold something in their mouth longer if it feels natural. I have had several bass swallow a senko style bait before I could set the hook. Cal
  15. I haven't had any major problems with them. When I first started pouring baits, I called Dave several times for advice and he was more than happy to help. I have had some emails that never received a reply though. Ovearll, I give them A- Cal
  16. I just finished making two one piece molds for baits. The molds are made of Durham's water putty. The molds look pretty good and I have them in the oven. Now the question is, do you seal molds made of Durham's water putty or not? Thanks Cal
  17. What is a goby? We don't have them here in Oklahoma Cal
  18. I think a color would be much better, because it will show the durability to heat better than black would. Just my opinion. Everyone has one, some just smell worse than others
  19. If you are trying to save some money, Lurecraft has a good one piece mold. May not be as fancy, but I caught several fish over six pounds on them last spring and early summer.
  20. Can someone explain to me exactly what colors are used in a green weenie? I have seen several pictures that claimed to be green weenie. Thanks Cal
  21. Pro-soft glue is the greatest! You can repair the only pink sinker you have while on the lake and that is the only thing they are hitting. You can build all kinds of Frankenstein baits
  22. I use the LC 502 for everything except tubes. It works here in Oklahoma. I tried LC 536, but I couldn't keep it on the hook? Cal
  23. Can someone tell me if Calhoun Plastic shrinks during cooling as bad as Lurecraft? I really am tired of the shrinkage. Thanks. Cal
