  1. I hold the beakers with a real high tech tool. I take a paper towel and fold in several times in a roll and wrap the resulting roll around the beaker. Lots of stuff could be used, leather, plastic, etc. Cal
  2. gotta see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cal
  3. The pearl powders are added to the plastisol before you heat it. I use about an 1/8th of a teaspoonful to 2 oz of plastisol. You can use more or less depending on the results you want. You can add color also, but it makes a real good shad type appearance without any color added.
  4. Last year the color was bubblegum pink here in southern Oklahoma. I used a lot of senko style baits in bubblegum. My brother laughed at it at first, but when I had put several fish in the boat and he didn't have any, he changed his mind. Now he asks if I have plenty of the pinko stinko baits Dark blue with blue glitter seemed to be the best color for lizards. Black with blue tail was also pretty good. The curley tail worms seemed to work best in a plum color with blue flake.
  5. Been there done that! I found two things that helped. 1. Practice, Practice, Practice 2. I got some smaller 100 ml beakers and filled them to 60 ml (2 oz). That gives you the control on how much comes out at one time. The beakers need to be pyrex and can be obtained from chemical equipment companies, or contact your local independent pharmacist and ask him to order some for you next time he orders. I use 100 ml beaker for bodies and 50 ml beaker for different color tails or body parts. Need any more info, just let me know. Cal
  6. I grind mine with a coffee grinder. It works great.
  7. They look good to me! I wish you lots of success in your endeavor.
  8. Thanks for the info. What I am looking for is a color about the shade of a Mississippi Mud cake. Only the guys from the south will probably know what one looks like. It is a funky chocolate with a cream swirl. I am not all that great with a color wheel. Wif is an artist and she tells me to use the color wheel. Any ideas? : Cal
  9. I had the same thing happened when I overheated some plastisol with blue coloring. I am sure it is the overheating. Cal
  10. I fish a lake that has lots of crawfish in it. I have caught several fish with crawfish in their gut. Anyone have a crawfish color they want to share? Thanks, Cal

  13. Yea, the salty sensation was real popular in the late 70's. It was real popular in motor oil color. I caught a lot of bass on it on Toledo Bend Reservoir on Texas Louisianna border

    Tin, Zinc?

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to ban lead. I think the lead in a few fishing jigs in not going to ruin the planet. I owned a lure company making jigs several years ago. All heavy metals need to be handled with care when using. Heavy metal fumes from melting are really bad. Hand washing after handling lead is a must. No eating, drinking, or smoking while handling lead. Do not bring your hands near your mouth while working with lead. Dust from lead that has been sitting for a while is bad also. Never use battery lead, it is way too dangerous. I am not trying to tell anyone how to run their business. I am only passing on what I have learned. Cal

Tin and zinc are both toxic metals as well. All of the HEAVY metals are. Sorry. Cal
  18. Oklahoma stocks trout in the Blue River here in Oklahoma. I have been fishing for them using Power Bait balls. They work real well and the cost is not very much, but I really like to make my own baits and I am sure some improvements can always be made. Does anyone have any experience in this area? Anyone have any ideas? Cal
  19. Lots of luck to you Chris! You make fine products! May your back be to the wind and may the Lord richly bless you! Cal
  20. Hello, I use the 502 because it is a little tougher and holds together better. Everyone has their own preference. I don't want the perch to peck it to death before the bass has a chance to see it Let me know how it goes Cal

    senko

Get a small electric coffee grinder from Wal-mart or some other store for about $15. It will grind any salt real fine. Doesn't separate out as bad when pouring. Grinder is worth it's weight in gold, but don't tell the Walton's or the price will go up Cal
  23. I would be interested in everyone adding to the cookbook when you get it moved over gator. I am sure everyone has some that no one has thought of! Cal
