  1. I just ordered 200 pads from fishingskirts.com. Several on TU had recommended them. I nearly swallowed my tongue when after the order was placed it said that I would receive them in 3 to 6 weeks. Is delivery normally better than that or is that normal? Reason I ask, is that I need this stuff now. Any input from others that have ordered would be appreciated.
  2. I have used a dremel to scratch a line to the edge of an aluminum mold. You sure got to be careful or you will mess it up.
  3. Well guys, I guess my memory does NOT serve me well. It was Whopper Stopper and not Bomber that bought fliptail. I apologize for the incorrect information that I provided.
  4. Fliptail was bought by Bomber Lures in the 1980's. I don't know who owns them now. I was ordering the flirts for striper jigs and had to start negotiating with Bomber. The last I knew, the plant was somewhere between Sherman and Dallas Texas.
  5. Dayooper (Ben) really knows what he is doing! Follow his instructions and you can't go wrong. I use his fluid bed. It works great. I use a heat gun to get the jigs hot, dip them and them cook them in toaster oven.
  6. I use some artificial deer hair that I got from Barlow's. I really like to use marabou plumes (turkey feathers, no kidding). They have a breathing movement in the water.
  7. Here is a link to a manual for the Bogg's tacklemaker. It is similar to yours. Hope it helps. http://www.barlowstackle.com/barlows/instructions/Boggs.pdf I use mine all the time. I wouldn't want to do without it.

    Painting Jigs

I paint my heads before I put in the weed guard. I use a dremel to remove the powder paint. place some 30 minute epoxy on the weed guard and insert it in the hole. Align it like you want it and it is dry in a bit. For me this is a whole lot easier and consistent.

    Clown Spinnerbait

An idea I had for a clown spinnerbait. I apologize for the poor picture.
  10. Too rich for my blood, but a very beautiful work of art.
  11. I melt my plastic in the microwave. Do some dips until the plastic cools off too much then reheat in the microwave. As far as salt, everyone has their own preference. The LC 500 plastic will hold more salt than some of the others (IMO).
  12. I have used Oomoo 25 to make molds. You get good detail and it is fairly easy to pour.
  13. I use 1/4 inch bolts that are 5 1/2 inches long to vertical dip tubes. I attach a piece of dowel rod to the head of the bolt so they will stand vertically. All I can tell you is that it works for me.
  14. I have been using pyrex beakers since I started pouring. They have a pouring spout and you can get some small details . Being a compounding pharmacist, I have used the beakers melting bases and drugs for years. They will stand the heat. A chemical warehouse or a compounding pharmacy would be a good place to get them. Remember to get pyrex. They are the best.
  15. Problem Drip: When you dip the rod, let the plastic run off. When it just about stops, turn the rod up with the head of the tube facing up. The drip will then run back down on the body of the tube. Problem Thin walls: There are several variables here, how hot the plastic is, salt or other additives, what type of plastic you are using. I use LC 500 plastic and add about 1/4 cup of salt to cup of plastic. If you start dipping when the plastic is still real hot, you will get thin walls. Wait until it is too thick, and the walls will be real thick. If you start dipping and it is way too hot, you may have to add an additional dip. Hope this helps.
  16. TJ's Tackle has good selection and price. I am getting my order together for fluid bed cups and powder paint tonight. Very nice folks. They are willing to help when you have problems. I wanted a smaller cup to dip jigs in and they made an adapter and smaller cup for me. They have those listed on their website as well.
  17. I have used the scenic sand. If memory serves me correctly, it was about 1.3 times as heavy as salt. Hope that helps some.
  18. I threw all of the netcraft molds and injector away after my first burn. These things are hazardous to your health. It is not worth the risk.
  19. I pour in my garage which is NOT attached to my house. I have a heater and fluorescent lights. I ALWAYS use a respirator and air out the garage after I have finished. IMO do not pour inside without a respirator. I speak from experience.
  20. Nova makes a wacky worm with a split ring poured in the middle of it. It worked good for me.
  21. Fishing isn't the only thing that is addictive!!! Makin baits is great fun and keeps you of the street and out of trouble . Hope you enjoy the addiction. There is no cure short of death:lol:.
  22. You can get a heat gun for a little of nothing. That's what I use to heat the jigs or spinners. I then bake them in a toaster oven to cure them.
  23. They look real good to me!! Keep 'em comin! Lurecraft has some fairly inexpensive molds too when you want to branch out. Or heck, you can make some molds yourself. Do a search and see how easy it is.
  24. Welcome Jerry, I live on the other side of Lake Texoma in Madill, OK. If I can be of any help in your endeavor to pour plastics, let me know.
  25. Sounds great! I just don't exactly understand how you are tying it. Do you have any pictures? Thanks
