Both materials are great for tyin' FNF's. I tied them most of the day yesterday and alternated between the two. As for patterns, just image the forage you are trying to mimic and go from there with your color choices. Most of all, Have Fun Tyin' & Then Catchin'....

WELL DON'T LAUGH TILL YOU TRY IT....lol. They are certain suckers that have a hollow plastic sticks instead of the traditional paper ones. After you enjoy the sucker, there is your center tube. You cane even get them in differnet colors. For the bobbers stops, I tie my own. You can tie them on the same sucker sticks and cut them into small sections so you can slide the stop off the end and on to your line. Another good thing to tie the stops on are coffee stirrers. You can cut them easier than the sucker sticks. You can get the beads just about anywhere...You can also make a good float from the quill of a porcupine....VERY SENSITIVE...I hope theis helps....BTB

Well somebody, somewhere, got some of them. They are all over ebay broken down into groups of 25 hooks per auction. And I am almost 100% positive that they came from the same place because I threw my hat in the ring on a few of them but he threw his hat a little higher than mine.

I think I have some of those in one of my spinnerbaits boxes out in the shop. Seems like they had Big Willow blades and red eyes that protuded from the side of the head. Will check and see and get a pic if I can find them. That's one thing about making your own tackle....YOU GET SO MUCH STUFF.......

Got a pic of what you are looking for? I am not a perch fisherman but I am pretty handy with lead and wire...

Now keep in mind that I don't pour the same kind of plastics/baits that you guys are talking about but I do make a crappie jig that uses plastic in the process. Have you guys ever thought about using a syringe for each of the colors of plastic that you wish to pour? If you keep the plastic hot on a hotplate and the syringe sets in the pan with the plastic and pulls duel duty as a stirrer. When you get ready to pour you draw the plastic into the syringe and shoot it out...then to the next color and syringe and so on. I have made multi colored jig bodies in this way. It maybe to tedious of a process for you guys to fool with or it may not be enough volume for your needs but I thought I would throw in my 2 cents anyways....It works for me....

That's what is good about this head. You don't have to fold and poke and thread. I just come down on the side of the tube about 1/2" and insert the hook point. Thread the hook through the body and out the bottom. When the tapered end of the head meets the tube, push the head body in to the line tie. Then grab the head end of the tube and pull it forward as you push the head through the slot that the tapered end made. It all makes a nice neat package that can be rigged in about 30 seconds. The first head has a single wire...The second has a looped cable that latches over the hook point...and the third is a double cable system that forms a V.

If I posted this right...here is the same head with 3 different weedguard set-ups. I use several weedguard systems and I am always trying something new....I can NEVER leave well enough alone.....:yeah:But they all work VERY WELL!!!!!

On those heads, do you take them up through the bottom of the tube? I make a weedless head similar to that but the way my jig head is tapered, you can put it in from the side. It rigs ALOT faster and ALOT easier than going in from the bottom. It makes about the same size hole in the side of the tube as others but is alot easier to rig. That's my....

Yea, that is a old habit that is hard for me to break. I HATE CRAFT FUR...It is like trying to tie something from a cotton ball with the knots left in.

Yea it is one of those each to his own deal or that work's for me type things. I have tied for 20+ years now and you learn alot through T&E. I have tried about every kind of hair I can get my hands on. Some worked and some did not, but at least they got a far shake at BASS WISDOM...

I can't wait to see your efforts. I just finished pouring some different hook styles to try in my next patch. I poured some WIDE GAP needle sharp jobs that I know are going to be a REAL HOOT to tie. Those needle hooks are great fish catchers but they are fond of your skin to as you are trying to tie them.... . But that is the price you pay for TWEEKIN"....

They say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery, so feel free. I started these from a basis pattern that I had seen and made them my own through TWEEKIN"..... . If I did this right you should be able to see some of the FnF's that I make. Some are from various hairs and furs and the others are made from mallard feathers. I added some sparkle here and there to catch the light. These are proven fish catchers. We almost broke the 7.lb mark last year but it still seems to dodge us..... maybe this will be the year....

I have used either or both together. I am kinda partial to the fox family myself. I can work with craft hair and it is easy to come by, but if I had to pick, I would choose FOX HANDS DOWN. But then again, IT"S HARD TO BEAT A WELL TIED FEATHER OFFERING!!!!!!! I have to deliver a bunch tomorrow. They started early this year....

I use heavy stainless steel wire inserts in mine. I still have afew that stick from time to time but not many. But IMHO, the stiffer the wire you use the better off you are...I use the same size wire in my crankbait weights too..and it works fine for those..a hit or two with some very fine emory cloth will help with the sticking too.....that's my two cents

What size hook do they use? I have a idea that might work for the weights.

What weight are these? It should be simple enough to figure out something similar or very close to the pic you posted.
