  1. I have been using the Silhouette Cameo For Airbrush Stencils for a couple of years. I use mylar overhead transparent sheets. I don't know the thickness offhand but they have lasted for hundreds of baits using laquer based paints. Try setting the cutting speed at 2 with a mat thickness setting of 33 also use the double cut setting. I hope this helps if you have any questions send me a PM. Kermit Good
  2. I found a company that does laser cut Lexan at a reasonable price comparable to that of off the shelf stamped lips. I was not aloud to add a link to them here. If anyone else is interested PM me.
  3. Does anyone here use or know a resource that can laser cut 1/8" lexan lips?
  4. Riverman, "Are you sure the pin holes aren't in your mold?" Yes they vary in location from part to part.
  5. I have recently started molding baits using Smooth Cast 300 and 320. Both products have produced baits with pin holes which are so small that paint or primer will not fill the holes. Any suggestions on how to eliminate the pin holes and what is the preferred primer for molded baits?
  6. Call: 802.685.4821 or Google HEB Manufacturing they are the manufacturers for all of the retailers.
  7. What are you using as a primer or basecoat for molded baits?
  8. Fatfingers, I haven't tried carving yet but admire your work very much. I have turned out over a thousand musky baits using various types of wood. Looking for the most tooth proof yet workable stock. I stopped using Western Red Cedar very quickly. I have used cherry, mahogany (African and Honduras), anigre, white cedar, red cedar, Alaskan Yellow Cedar (AYC) hard maple and various other exotic hard woods. I do have some sugar pine that looks like it will be nice to work with but I haven't tried yet. I would try AYC, Honduras Mahongay, sugar pine or Jelutong if I were a carver. The AYC has a very fine tight grain and would carve very nicely. If you would like I could send you a piece of AYC and or Honduras Mahongay. Just let me know the size requirements and where to send it to.
  9. http://www.taxidermy.com/ they have lacquer and water based paints.
  10. Jed, I ran into the same problem a couple of years ago when using Flex Coat as a top coat over AA or Wasco lacquer paints. The problem does appear to be dark paint pigment sensitive. The top coats either Flex Coat or Etex would ?ripple? or form voids only in areas with black or dark paints. I painted a Fire Tiger that the top coat was perfect over the fluorescent colors but rippled over the black back and stripes. I solved this problem by spraying Wasco Wet Look clear over the entire bait before I topcoat. Flex Coat and Etex work well over all types of paints using this method. Other clears paints may also work for you. The ripple problem does not appear if us use a two part clear polyurethane. I currently use Etex due to price and availability over both lacquer and water based Wasco paints. Send me an email if you have any questions. Kermit
  11. Tbait, I use Wasco solvent based paints and they do not clog. The only needle time that I ever have clean the needle is after the air brush has not been used in several days. When I used to Createx and had to clean the air brush frequently every time that I used it.
