  1. Hi Ray. You will be a great additional to this board. Sharon Johnson All Star
  2. It is very difficult to replace rear grips and reel seats from the bottom of the rod because the majority of blanks are tapered and get larger as you get closer to the bottom. When you build a rod you slide the components over the tip. If the handle is cork then you would have to ream the cork larger than necessary at the top of the grip and shim it tight. Your other option would be to actually cut the cork grip in half and then glue it around the blank. You will also have to shim the reel seat. Sharon Johnson All Star
  3. It is a very good video and details the basic process very well. Since the blank is the guts of all fishing rods it is in the rod builders best interest to be well versed in blank construction. Sharon Johnson All Star
  4. That is a very accurate answer. The "I" stands for Intermediate rather than Intrinsic. Also keep in mind that the higher modulus blanks are more fragile than the standard or intermediate modulus. It is my opinion that the custom rod builders should be more concerned with the action of their blanks and whether the individual blank fits their particular fishing application than with the modulus. There has been a great deal of hype about modulus in advertising campaigns but the average fisherman cannot feel the difference of an ounce or two in their fishing rods. Sharon Johnson All Star
