    Making money

What is a basic paint job? I have never seen one on this site. All the baits here are custom made or custom painted and there is nothing basic about it. You can turn a profit painting plastic, but if you spend the time it takes to produce a handmade balsa or other type of wood bait with any quality in it, you will recover your material cost, labor is out the window. And let me assure you the quality that fisherman are willing to pay for doesn't come overnight. Coley

  16. The TN TUG 2005 (Tackleunderground Get-together) Will be held on May 20, 21 and 22, in Gallatin TN. A lot of details have to be worked out. Our tentative plans right now are: Friday, May 20 th, late in evening, we will have a "Meet & Greet" Saturday, May 21 th, "how to seminars" by attending members. Lure swap and a cookout. Sunday, May 22 nd, 1/2 day fishing for those that desire. Of course we will pick-up and return to airport anyone that flies in. All is subject to change, but not much. We will reserve a block of rooms at a clean motel, with a pool, we hope, where we can test lures. As soon as we get a feel for numbers. I know its early, but we wanted to get it out there. We will update on this forum as updates are required. Coley

  18. I would suggest an eye size of 1/8" to 5/32" I will be glad to send you a few lips and eyes if you will PM me your mailing address. What color eye would you like to have?? I will also send you the SS cotter pins to put in the lip. Just follow the lip tutorial and don't rush, you should not have any trouble. Coley
  19. Hey KY, if you want the best possible bait made from balsa, then you need to seal it with Devcon 2T. Devcon 2T on the bare balsa will really add a lot of strength to the wood. If your balsa is very hard you might get away using another type of sealer. Do this test yourself. Make a bait sealing the bare wood with Devcon 2T, and make a bait using something else. After both baits are finished, hold the bait between your thumb and index finger and squeeze. You will feel the flex and the softness in the bait not sealed with Devcon 2T. This applies to balsa only, hardwood baits donot need Devcon 2T as a sealer. Coley
  20. Rit dye will dye Lumaflex, but it bleeds badly. I have found regular plastic worm dye and Bombay ink work extremely well. The ink comes in many different colors. Coley
  21. Those are unreal, or are they?? Thanks for sharing. Coley
  22. Will a plastic bait, with about the same action, painted exactly the same, catch just as many fish as a wood bait?? I know a rattle trap will catch a lot of fish, and I have yet to see a wooden one. Coley
  23. Good job, you old "Mountaineer" Coley
