  3. Hughesy can answer this much better than I can, but I'll try. You know, I have never thought much about the viscoity. I try to thin my waterbase paint to thickness of milk. It will run down the mixing stick and drip off, all but the last drop, it stays on the stick. If you get spider-webbing, you could be holding your brush to close to your work or your paint is much to thin or your air pressure is way to high. If you have paint going where you don't want it, angle the airbrush away from the area you don't want any paint to get on. As an example, you can paint the top of a bait by spraying from the center of the bait to the edge in both directions. Not trying to spray down the middle of the back from front to rear. I also have never used anything larger than a #1 tip in my VL an my air pressure seldom exceeds 15#. Coley
  4. Beautiful job!!!!! Coley
  5. I do it just like you do it, a carving knife and sandpaper. I also have a piece of sandpaper glued to the inside radius of a slice of aluminum tubing. Lincoya, taught me how to round a piece of wood with a carving knife. Tell you what, I will make a sketch of how to carve a radius and post it here later on. Coley Carving a square to a round. In photo 1 you carve off A & C until A, B & C are equal. In photo 2 you carve off A, B, C & D until 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 are equal. Just keep carving off the points and keep all the flats equal and as you see in photo 2, it takes on a round shape. Thanks, to Lincoya for teaching me this. Coley
  6. Welcome back Toby!! And what a beautiful little girl. She will grow up fast, seems like mine was born a couple weeks ago and she just turned 40! Coley
  7. Enjoyed reading your synopsis of this reel, I am sure this would apply to many more reels in this class. I cannot imagine casting a lure 85 yds. I don't think I could hit a golf ball that far. Good work. Coley
  8. You guys are too nice. Skeeter is the King of cranks and I still turn to him when I have questions. Coley
  9. Congratulations, Shawn and Jake. Looking forward to supporting and working with you both. Coley
  10. WOW, Corey, my wife thinks I am the Devil. What a switch. Thanks, I learned what I know from several sources, mostly from Skeeter, Hughesy, Nathan, Lincoya, and my good friend Charlie Mitchell. Practice, without fear of failure. When I made my first bait, I was one proud dude. I hooked it to my line and cast it into my Koi pond, it sank faster than a rock. It hurt me so bad, I wanted to cry. I wanted to make a balsa bait real bad, I was afraid to try. I knew I couldn't get it shaped right, so I came up with a laminated bait of balsa and cedar. With a good centerline of cedar the balsa was easy to shape. So, the reason I offer what I have learned, is to save a newcomer, the pain of becoming a bait maker. If you come up with some off the wall idea, try it, you never know the outcome until you do. I covered a bait with material once and a rattlesnake skin another time. Like Larry the cable guy says: Git R Done. Until 2 weeks ago, I had not bass fished since 1998. I caught a couple of bass on my cranks, what a thrill. And the fact someone will give me $15 for one is even better. Coley
  11. That sounds like a good idea to me. Time is of essence. I think a mouse would be good. Coley
  12. Corey, I sent one in today on weights with hook hangers for balsa baits. I don't know when it will be up? The one on lips will take a little while to put together. Thanks, for your interest. Coley
  13. Thank you very much guys. I am about finished with a tutorial for installing belly weight and hook hanger. Stainless steel cotter pins can be found here: http://www.nutty.com/188cp.html I'll do one on lips if anyone is interested. Coley
  14. I can't make cranks. I do make poppers, bombers, top water, my own designs and ballpoint pens. A few pictures attached. Coley

  21. Those subjects have been covered many times here. I suggest you do a search for paint, painting, airbrush and foil. Coley
  22. You get the Pearl shimmer, and depending how much powder you put in you get the white. With just a little powder you can still see a darker color underneath. Coley
  23. You can obtain a beautiful White Pearl color coat by mixing Lurecraft White Pearl plastic coloring with Devcon 2 T epoxy. The coloring is a powder. Coley
