  5. After what Chirmy says. it seems the problem is keeping the two halves from sticking together when you pour the second half. What if you took a piece of clear film like that stretch stuff used in the kitchen and placed it over the first half of the mold, then put in your whole worm, and poured the second half. Make the mold with the worm close to the edge and use a Dremel to cut the pour hole. Before separating the two halves. drill holes for alignment pins. I would take the first half completely out of the container and wrap the film completely around it so no resin could run down the sides and stick the two halves together. Just my thoughts. Coley
  6. Remember the wooden dowel?? Well, here is the bait. Coley

Moooooooooo, Nathan. Udderly fantastic. Good job. Coley
  8. I wouldn't worry to much about the old bait. A little acetone will remove the superglue. I would imagine the bait could float up and let resin get under it, if not glued. Coley

  12. I do my lips very similar to Ken. The difference is, I put thelip in when I do the clearcoat. I put epoxy in the lip slot and then I clear coat the head of bait around the slot. This keeps from messing up the lip with epoxy. I then hold the lip and bait straight up. After I swish the lip in the epoxy, I slowly push it down into the bait. The excess will push out the side of the lip slot and start down the side of the bait. I then brush this on down the bait and finish clearcoating the bait. This keeps epoxy off the lip. Coley

Yes, I bought 25 blocks of 3"x3"x6" for $0.75 a block. Seems to be quality stuff. Coley
  15. Mine hit the mail today (9/1). I put some worms in that are blue with blue glitter and blue with silver glitter. If you get these you have a good bait. That worm won $5,000 on lake Barkley. by two local fisherman. Coley

  20. Here's my problem. I am using water based acrylic over an enamel based primer or undercoat. My baits are really smooth and slick before paint is applied. This morning the paint drew up rather than laid out smooth. Its hard to explain what it did. There would be more paint in the center of the sprayed surface, than there would be on the edges. Such as scales, the center would be thick and edges would have no paint what so ever. It was like a drop of water on oil. Never had this happen before. It happened on 2 baits this morning. I tried different air pressure and different paint thinning. Do I need to sand baits to get a dull surface for paint to stick properly? Like maybe, with a 400-600 grit paper?? Thanks, Coley
  21. Take a look at Stanford Lures, the eyes on all their baits are on the side. www.stanfordlures.com Coley
  22. This is a very useful tip. It seems no matter how hard we try things don't always come out as anticipated. Coley
  23. Hey Skeeter, I am very surprised at that information, looks like we can save some Lexan on our shallow running baits. Thanks for sharing. Coley

    finish coats

Hey Joe, I have found it best if you use the Devcon 2 Ton without thinner. You will have plenty of time to do one bait. Coley
