  1. I have poured some curly tail grubs in the past into plaster molds. What I did was to tilt the mold so the backend or tail was higher than the front and poured the tail first and let the plastic flow toward the body. Are you sure the plastic is hot enough to flow? Sounds like it is becoming a solid before it flows out. Coley

    3D eyes

I have made some 1 oz Sauger jigs with 3D eyes on them. The jigs were round head and after I poured them, I would lay them on an anvil and hit them with a hammer to put a flat side in the head. I then powder painted and super glued the eyes on. I used the gel type super glue. It worked extremely well. Seldom did an eye come off. Coley
  3. Are your talking about picture attachments on the forum and not in the gallery?? If so, you have to be logged in to see them. Coley
  4. You have to resize the pic before you post it. If your talking about the gallery, heres how: 1-go to gallery 2- select upload 3- select album 4- browse files 5-select pic 6-open pic 7-scroll down and upload pic 8-give description and submit Coley
  5. Nice job. Would work well here in TN, on the big rockfish. Coley
  6. Great job!! Love the blades, super paint job! Coley
  7. Why do some crankbaits have nickel plated hooks and others have bronze?? I can see that nickel would add some flash to a bait and maybe increase the profile. Bronze would be less visible and maybe the bait itself would be more of a target. Or could it just be a preference?? Could someone that knows, please answer?? Coley
  8. Thanks Nathan, the action is a wobble rather than a wiggle. I am experimenting (sp) with lip angle for depth and action. Thanks for the help on this one. It was one of these I asked you about in email. And thanks for comments about cloth covered bait. Keep up the good work. Coley
  9. Hey muskie glad you were able to locate us. Tacklemaking is down for present time. This is a great place for custom tackle makers. I just got started myself, but the help from Nathan, Skeeter, Hughesy, Celt and others has made it wonderful. Frustration has been held to a minimum. These guys are great and know so much. And thanks to Jerry we have this board. Coley

  11. There is a 3/8' piece of western cedar laminated with 1/2" thick pieces of balsa. Coley
  12. I found some fabric at Hobby Lobby that I liked the pattern on. I covered a lure with it. It was see through nylon. Worked out well. Left bait is covered with material. Enlarge pic for a good look. Coley
  13. There are several companies that have them. Red Devil is one, I think they call it The Demon or something like that. Here is one for a 5 gal. bucket for less than $10 http://www.cornerhardware.com/item_220491/Paint-Supplies/Paint-Prep-Cleanup-Strippers/Drill-Powered-Paint-Mixers/-Mustang-Mixer-Drilldriven-Paint-Mixer-5-Gallon-.html Coley

    New buzzbait

Thanks Lurehead03. Your bait was the one that gave me the idea. I used a regular 1/4 oz. buzzbait from Janns. I sanded the head off on both sides to make it flat and then formed the clay around the head. It probably didn,t weigh 1/8 oz when I started forming. It weighs less than 1/4 oz now. Coley

    Thanks

A great big Thank You is in order for Skeeter, Tim and Luresmith for the insite they provided us about crankbaits. And thanks to Jerry for this site. Its full of information and a great place to show your wares and find out what others are doing. I thought if I could make one that would swim and wobble without spinning or running on its side I was doing ok. Now I am watching them close, some do swim off to the side and come back on course and then go off to the other side and come back on track, guess they are searching. Keep up the good work. Coley

    New pic

Uploaded pic of my rattlesnake bait. This bait is completely covered with a piece of rattlesnake skin. The eyes are plastic cat eyes from Hobby Lobby. I tried this before on a bait that had too many curves. I saw pic of a topwater that had a piece of snakeskin on the top at Lure Wizards. It is unusual. Coley

  22. Man, thats a super job!! Keep it up!! Would that thing catch a Sauger? Coley
  23. Hey SeminoleFan, the balsa/cedar cranks are coming well. I posted a pic in gallery awhile back of finished bait. I have now almost finshed 4 more and have 4 more in the making. Will post some more pics when done. What I really like about it is the different body designs you can make with the same cut out. I am working on 2 now that are tapered from the top to the outer edge and flat underneath and roundded from front to back. Kinda resembles The head of a Cobra. Thats what I call it, my Cobra Bait. The action on the first one was a nice tight wiggle and an almost vertical dive. I was very pleased. Coley
  24. Has anyone seen the snakeskin paint job at Lure Wizards? If so. can you tell me how to do it? Heres the link http://www.boards2go.com/boards/board.cgi?&user=Tydwater2 Coley
