  1. Thanks for the reply! Our problem is when we aren't around. When we're home, he's great. Never even tries to do something he knows isn't allowed...but when we're gone, the temptation is there and he's unsupervised...so he figures I'll never find out.....until my sump pump doesn't work of course! I know this behavior won't last past his "puppy stage", but I'm looking for something I can put on stuff I don't want him to chew up...as a sort of back up plan in case he gives in to the temptation. The spray I've been using successfully contains cayenne pepper...so I was thinking of making something using it....

    Gundog help

Hey guys, For those of you that hunt..which is probably everyone on this site!....and have a gun dog, I have a ? My weimaraner is the best dog ever! My only problem is with him chewing on power plugs when I'm not home. I have him in the basement and he likes to chew on the cord to my sump pump and others...aside from getting electicuted, I'd really like him to stop due to the rolls of electical tape I'm going through! I used that spray deterrant and it words well. However, I don't want to have to run to Petsmart every week to buy another bottle. Does anyone know of a "home remedy" or their own recipe for a puppy deterrant that I can whip up? Thanks!
  3. Chip- Thanks for the reply. I like the extra room on the boat w/o the dual console...but I haven't actually seen the dual in person....will check that out. What kinda motor is yours?
  4. I am getting serious about purchasing a 2004 Tracker Targa 17SC with an upgraded outboard....Mercury 115 Four Stroke. If you guys could provide any info...good, bad, hopefully not ugly...about this company/boats I'd appreciate it. All I've heard so far is pretty good. Thanks in advance!
  5. Does anyone know where you can get new Lee Production Pots for soft plastics other than Lure Craft?
  6. Im pretty sure www.lurecraft.com has 4 mil laminated bags.
  7. That is unreal! I thought the dealer was just running me a line of B.S. like all salesmen do! I'm with you chip.....I want it to say Mercury!
  8. Hey Guys, I was at the local dealer the other day and was told...by a salesman...that there is absolutely NO difference between a Mercury 90 hp and a Tracker 90 hp (by Mercury). He said the motors are the exact same thing and that the only differnce is a $200 Mercury sticker package. I find this hard to believe...does anyone have any insight?
  9. Pop- That was the problem I was running into...the minimums were way too high...plus, I want a 2 to 3 color print, which would jack up the price also. I thought about just buying the laminate bags myself cuz they aren't that expensive....and like you said, have em printed on or get clear labels. Thought more people on this forum would have insite to this. Keep me posted on what you find! Thanks
  10. I think this topic has come up before, but can't seem to find a good company.... Does anyone where you can get 2 or 3 color printed poly bags?....like with company logo, scent, type and size etc...?
  11. Hey guys, What are most of you higher volume guys (like well into the 1000's per bait style, color etc...) using to pour? Is mostly everyone still using the pouring pots and the good ole' pyrex-in-the-mic method? Was just wondering if there was something else working a little better than the pouring pots for high volume. Thanks!
  12. SW suburb of Chicago. Lockport to be exact.
  13. Hey guys, I was looking for some of you computer savy guys to lend me a hand. I'm thinking of changing around my logo but would like some outside influence just to see someone else's creative ideas....plus, I don't know how to change it around using the computer. If anyone is willing to "mess around" with my logo, I'd appreciate it. Just PM me or respond to this post...or email me at edoornkaat@yahoo.com. Thanks!
  14. Thanks guys, If you care to comment on best color, glitter etc.....feel free!
  15. Hey guys, What plastisol do you guys feel is the easiest to use, and makes the best baits? I know there are alot of variables that makes plastisol good or bad...but overall, which would you guys recommend? Tude
  16. Does anyone know where I can find a "deal" on a Shimano V-Rod? They seem to be out of production, but I really like the feel of these rods. I'm looking for a 7ft. baitcasting, medium action Thanks, Tude
  17. Thanks for all the great posts...I didn't think this thread would go over as well as it has...so thanx! I guess I should clarify that once I do take the next step in producing baits, it won't be my only job. For most of us, I'm sure it's a hobby that sorta turned into a small business....so I'm not really concerned with a "slow season". I have a masters degree and a job that I absolutely love, and I'm not ready to through all that schooling out the door for a career in soft plastics just yet. I have always been keeping a "small business" in the back of my head, then I found tacklemaking...then tackleunderground and sparked my interest. I love to fish.....I live for it just like most or all of us on this site, so why not try a small (very small to start) operation in the industry that I love...fishing. Everyone has been extremely helpful w/responses in this thread...I'd really like to keep it going cuz I'm sure there are endless problems/concerns/shortcuts with a startup biz.
  18. I knew there was a catch to the merchant account....and you are absolutely right, a couple grand to set it up seems ridiculous in the grand scheme of things when starting out. Otherwise, everyone would probably use em. I never thought of the fact that most of your baits (when starting out) are sold to tackle shops, at fishing shows etc. And the fact you could potentially be competing with your vendors via website is a good point.
  19. That's helpful...thanks Tim. Along what Chris had said....I would like to know how to complete orders using the system similar to how Bass Pro, Cabelas etc does it. I think it's Verisign....but they just use any credit card, Visa, Mastercard..whatever. It seems like the most logical, easy for the user, and most diverse way to pay for something via internet. I don't have a paypal account...and probably never will. (No offense to anyone) If I were to buy a bait and saw that it required Paypal as its form of transaction...I wouldn't buy just for the fact that I would want to take the time to sign up with Paypal. I can imagine that it's the same for many people....or am I off with this one?
  20. Not a problem Kid....you have a good site there, so I don't mind giving a shameless plug! Speaking of plugs, Red mocked up a homepage for me a while ago that looked awesome! I would not hesitate to use his services...depending on how busy he is! FYI I was on Yahoo not to long ago and saw a "business startup" thingy (it's still on the site if you want to check it out) and was wondering if anyone might see problems/advantages to using them. http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/index.php I would also be grateful if someone could go over the formalities of become a legit biz...ie paperwork, merchant accounts etc.....cuz I'm freakin clueless about that stuff. Thanks a ton fellas........
  21. Thanks everyone! Those are all really helpful....in my opinion, there is no post too long if it involves lure making! (Al) I certainly don't have any preconcieved notions that a business will be an overnight success. I've heard the time, money and hard work speech plenty....and definately agree! Add in a little luck, and you're in biz! Keep the posts comin!...anyone else?
  22. Hey guys, I used to be a regular on the "other" site before tackleunderground came into existance. I've been gone for a while, but have a new-found interest in soft plastic lure making.....so I guess what I'm saying is I need a proper welcome back! But enough about that. I'd like to hear from some of the guys that have created a business out of lure making. Like what kind of time/money you put into production, best methods, pros and cons to everything like websites, payment and ordering systems, shipping.....basically anything you would like to recommend...or warn us beginners of. Thanks in advance...and it's good to be back! Tude [/b]
  23. We all know that suspending jerks in cold water or pre-pre spawn works like a charm on large and especially smallmouth bass. But, do any of you guys use them in warm water during the summer or early fall months with any consistant success?
  24. I think Bill Dance is a spokesperson for it. If I remember right, he did an entire show on that boomerang thing. It's just like drop shotting from what I understand.
  25. Yeah, I hear ya guys. I really thinks it's stupid how Mann's has their 20 and 30+ baits that don't even hit the desired depth. And your right, to hit a 100 ft. cast isn't something that everybody can get. I guess I'm just saying that Mann's baits should do what they are advertised to do. I also like the DT's by Rapala, but I'm yet to find out if they are hitting the depth yet. Do you guys have any experience with them?
