  2. Can any one please tell me the running depths of the old Rapala Risto Raps in size #5 & #7? Thank you,
  3. I'm getting everything together to start painting crank-baits. What's a good way to have all my paints reading to spray ? Buy extra bottles of caps to put on the paint bottles themselves ? When it comes to mixing paint to, is it best to mix just enough that you need for one time or mix up good bit and store it ? Thank you,
  4. Ok, I think I'm down to two questions before I can start painting crankbaits. one if I'm going to paint with createx paint do I need a paint booth with an exhaust fan and everything ? second what paint colors should I buy to get started ? Sorry one more question, Is there any other company to buy plastic pre-made crank baits besides Janns, and Staminia ? Thanks again,
  5. Thanks for your input guys. It really helps me out to which one I want.
  6. I'm not set on any particular name brand of airbrush. I'm looking for a decent kit to get started with.
  7. I've been looking at airbrushes to start painting my own crankbaits. In everyones opion, is this a good air brush, kit and price ? [/url]http://www.internettrains.com/bacoairbrkit.html Thank you,
  8. I'm wanting to get started to make lures for my bass tournaments. So I need reliable equipment.
  9. I'm thinking of trying to paint my own crankbaits. I will be buying ones that all you have to do is paint and assemble. But I have no idea what all I will need. If I paint with a water base paint what type of paint booth will I need ? or do I even need one. How do I apply a top clear coat ? with a brush or spray ? What type of air brush will be a good starter brush. I already make my own lead weighted lures so I have some idea about lure making. Thank you,
  10. I'm wanting to make 1/4oz spinnerbaits for an upcoming tournament. I want to make a more compact looking lure. Is there a rule of thumb or formula for the distance on the blade arm to the body arm ? Thank you,
  11. I bought three old fishing rods and a Port King model #81 fishing reel. I'm curious to roughly how much the reel is worth. I can't find any info on the web. I hoping someone here would have some knowledge on reels or where to look. I don't plan on selling it, they are going in my house on the wall.
  12. I've been using cad ofr about 7 years. I'm starting to pick up on autocad2002. I wouldn't want to have to go back to drawing on the board for anything.
  13. What about accuracy though ? Is there room for fudging ? Or isn't that an issue ? I don't know cause I have never made a crank bait before to know. I just make jigs, spinnerbaits and a few other different type of baits.
  14. I work on auto cad every day. I got with a few people and we all came up with the same conclusion. You can copy and paste it in a drawing, but you can't work on it, it will be a picture. I'm currently on r14 cad. If I can help in any way just e-mail here at work at john.wion@ludy.com
  15. Has anyone tried one ? Do they make any difference than a regular spinnerbait ?
  16. That's what that guy said. I fish a lake that has alot of grass.
  17. I saw a new style of spinner bait thia weekend at a tackle show, and was wondering if anyone has tried to make one or not. the guy cut off the blade arm of the spinner bait and attched a leader cable about the same length of what it was. It seems like a neat idea, but was wondering if anyone has experimented with this, before I try it. I only want to make it for myself not to resell. But before I go and buy everything, I'm just looking fo some input on this.
  18. Maze, What article were you talking about? I found one about wiring two 12v batteries together. Is that the article?
  19. Barlow's is another lure componet company. Bass pro and Cabela's, but they are going to probably be pricy too. Check out www.fishhoo.com ,it's a fishing/outdoor search engine.
  20. The lake that I fish alot is gin clear, so I usually use a wooden crank bait. But sometimes use whatever I have to go deep. I would like to try and get something to around 20' and deeper to dig the bottom. I'm kind of going on a hunch. I open to about any suggestions. I want to try something that the bass have never seen. I've heard some guys drill holes in there plastic crankbaits to get then deeper, not sure how that works though.
  21. I'm trying to figure out how to get a crankbait deeper then what it was made to go. 18+ feet. They make so few that can do that. Or getting a shallower running crankbait deep. I was curious if anybody tries anything like that ? I have been messing around with rigging a crankbait like a c-rig, with a light weight, it works pretty good.
  22. I'm looking into buying an on board battery charger for my ranger, but I have no idea what to look for. Do they charge your trolling motor battery while your running your out board or are they just a charger. What amperage should I look at.
  23. I'm thinking about trying my hand at making in-line spinner baits. What tools would I need to get started? Do I need to learn how to tie the treble hooks (like on rooster tails) or is it cheaper to buy them like that? Is there some place that I can read about making them?
  24. I would like to say thanks to who ever come up with this site. I've been making lead lures for a couple of years for myself and friends, but I have been making some for a freinds bait shop. This is a great place to help me out with tips and ideas that I might need. Thanks again.
