  2. Has anyone ever heard or seen a plastice bait called "Screw Tail Minnow"? Thanks, Pop
  3. D.J., Trying to findout an American manufacturer is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Spent the better part of today trying to locate a manufacturer. I'm giving up and going to settle for one of the known suppliers. If I find anyone with Chart/red flake, I will let you know.
  4. Hi Jim, Other than the problem you are currently having with the mold. What is your opinion or the mold? Do you need a vulcanizer. The web site really doesn't explain how to make a jig mold with the "Replica Mold". Any instructions you can give would be appreciated. Thanks, Pop
  5. svepop and D.J. I think Rat Trap is importing their skirts now, also. I just got an order from Rat Trap and going to order some from Dennis Hatfield. Curious to see the difference as I don't think Dennis imports his skirts. .15 is a high price for tabs. I would be interested to know how the tabs are received from the manufacturer. I don't think Living Rubber is a manufacturer, but buys direct from a manufacturer. My guess is they are received by the spool. Weight of the spool is an unknown. My guess, based on the minimum you were given of 1,000 tabs, and the price you paid is a spool is about 5 pounds. I base this on 20 strands per tab and 300-310 tabs per pound. I find these types of subjects interesting. I pulled a number of names from the Thomas Register and tried call them today, but I think everyone was closed due to the holiday. I'll try again on Monday. Thanks for the input, Pop
  6. Anyone know who manufactures the silicone skirts we use on jigs and spinnerbaits? I don't mean wholesale suppliers, I mean the actual manufacturer. I checked the Thomas Registers, but couldn't find out the answer, also been checking on the net to no avail. I am thinking about calling Dow Chemical and starting their but if anyone has the answer or a better place to start, it would be appreciated. Thanks, Pop
  7. Leave it in the pyrex cup but have a heat dispurser plate on your burner. You can buy them at Walmart. Pop

For those using a respirator when cooking and pouring plastics, what kind of respirator are you using. Winter has come to us in the north and I can't leave the windows open all the time. Poured last night and got a bad headache. Don't want to do that anymore. Thanks for your help. Pop

  11. Can anyone tell me where to purchase the best quality and price of weed guards. I want to purchase by the thousand. Also what do most of you jig manufacturers use regarding stiffness of weed guard. I'v been using medium and they aren't staying tight together very well. Thanks, Pop
  12. I am looking for self sealing laminated bags with hang holes 5" wide and 4" high. I got one quote and they wanted a minimum of 45,000 bags. More than I currently need. I only wish. Anyone know where I can get that size? Thanks, Pop

    Pompano Jigs

You might be right. The only problem might be the smaller hook that you need for a pompano jig. I have been leaning towards a Tapered Tube Skirt Jig such as Style TC and tying that with nylon. Thanks for your suggestion. Pop

    Weedless Bass Jig

No Jim that is not the mold I am talking about. What I am talking about is similar to the Flipping Jig FLIP-3-AY or the Bass Jig BASS-3-AY. The only difference is the bottom is a little flatter, just flat enough that the jig sits without falling over. The first place I saw the jig was at a tackle shop called the Wacky Worm, then I watched a video by "Professional Bass Fisherman Andy Vallombroso". On the video he says what a good bass jig it is, and how to make it showing the mold and it is quite plain it is a Do-It mold with its orange handle and he pushed Do-It molds all during the video with Do-It advertisements all over the video container. During the video he doesn't mention one time what the name or model is of the mold and you can't tell from the video what mold it is. All you can tell is that it has four cavities. I called Do-It but the two woman I spoke with could not help me as they searched the computer and found nothing of what I was talking about. I offered to send them one of the jigs from the store (I purchased a few) but they said it wouldn't help I then offered to send the video but they said that wouldn't help either. Somebody at Do-It should know what is going on? If I knew how to put a picture on this site I would try to take a picture so you could see what I am talking about. I will give the fellow a call that you recommended, maybe he will know. Thanks for your help, Pop Buy the way, the fellow who made the video sells what he calls "Nature Jigs", if anyone knows of him and how to get in touch with him, that would be a great help.

    Wraped Skirts

Try Rat Trap Bait Company. 836-967-2148. They are in Auburndale Florida. They have what they call 3" Breathers. They also make a variety of other type skirts and their prices are good. Hope this helps, Pop
  18. I am looking for a weedless bass jig that will sit up on the bottom. I want sizes 1/8, 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 oz. I believe do-it at one time made such a mold but I can't find it any longer in their catalog. They currently have one mold but the sizes are 5/16. 7/16. and 9/16 and I'm not happy with the shape. Does anyone know what jig I am talking about and any ideas how to acquire one? Thanks, Pop
  19. I am looking into bags myself, and at this point I am of the belief that you need to get laminated bags inorder to have them printed. Also laminated bags are the only bags that will let your baits retain whatever scent you put in them. The drawback is that there is usually a high minimum when you want printed bags. I just spoke with Johnson Bags and they want a minimum order of 65,000 bags for printing at estimated .07 per bag or $4,550.00 Estimated. I don't believe that included the cost of the bags. There recommendation to me was to purchase laminated bags and then have a local label company print Poly Styrene labels for the bags. They claim they are very clear and when put on the bag it looks like the bag was printed. The lable company agreed that they make the bag look printed. Also you might want to have the labels clear coated so the ink does not come off from the water. I am currently waiting for a quote on the labels, minimum order 1,000. Hope I have been some help. Pop
  20. When I had my store, I did the same thing. They were the best sellers I had. I delt with U.S. Plastics Distributing, 605 E. Fourth St., Eldon MO 65026. Phone: 573-392-6001 or toll free 800-851-6689. This information is about 5 years old, but; I assume they are still there. Lou was the owner and one of the nicest people you would want to talk with and very helpful. I had the best plastics you could buy-other than hand poured ofcourse Pop
  21. Hi Mike, Am I looking at the right blades for the tube cutter? I was at Walmart and they had 28mm rotary cutters made by Fiskars. There were 2 cutters per package for $3.98. That could make for an expensive cutter and really expensive depending how long the blades last. Initial expense for blades is over $50.00. Is there a cheaper way to purchase the blades? Thanks, Pop.
  22. Also forgot that I have a mold for pouring spider jig bodies if anyone is interested. Thanks, Pop
  23. I have hundreds, no, thousands of spider jig bodies and tails. Will be happy to sell or trade. I'm looking for some really nice spinnerbaits and buzbaits. Email me if anyone is interested. Pop
