  2. You can purchase a heat dispersing thinga ma jig at Walmart that is round with a handle that sits on top of the burner for the purpose of dispersing the heat. Pop
  3. There are alot of posts regarding hook sizes. I have spoken with Do-It and as a general rule they tell me that you can go up one hook size on most molds. Ofcourse you can modify any mold but that is another story and I have not done that myself. Pop

    Pouring cup

Before I do something stupid, I figure it is better to consult with everyone. I bought a plastic measuring cup that has a beautiful pouring spout that I figure will do a great job pouring into small areas. I checked with three authorities (women) if this cup can be used in a microwave and got a posetive answer from all three. However they know nothing about plastisol. Will the plastisol effect the plastic cup? Should I not use the plastic measuring cup? Where did I purchase this cup you ask, Walmart ofcourse. Thanks, Pop
  6. If you are talking about the creek critters, it's just www.creekcritters.com Pop

    June Bug

Hi Woodsac, thanks for the info. Question, do you put salt in you june bug color? I tried your receipe and it works fine unless you put salt in the mix, then you get a bright purple color. Used them today and they still caught fish. Would adding more black take care of the problem? Pop

    Beaver Molds

I understand Bob has both 3.5 and 4.25 aluminum beaver molds. does 3/4 inch make much of a difference? Pop
  12. It use to be that plastic baits would melt or eat through all but certain plastic. This develped the term "worm proof" for certain containers. Doesn't this apply any longer? Pop
  13. Are we discussing Gobidae which include eleotrididae, bogioididae or known as gobies and gudgeons. Aint that some northern Pop OOPs, the spell check just went biserk
  14. Hi Charlie, does Del make any size Beaver at all. I have emailed him a couple times asking, but no reply. Pop
  15. I guess I am having a hard time imagining the coordination of holding open the pouring spout and holding the mold in the other hand. Thanks for all the feed back. Pop
  16. James, what size valve are you using? Do you limit using the Sta-Warm pot to two sided molds only? Thanks for the info Mojo. Pop
  17. What kink of Beaver molds are you using. My aluminum molds only have two cavities. Pop
  18. Brad, I can see pouring from pots into two part molds, but I would think one piece molds are easier to pour from cups. Am I wrong? Pop
  19. Hi Woodsac, what size cups do you use. Do you need to heat the cup more than once while pouring? Pop

    Hot Pot

Just passing some info along that most might already know. I spoke with Wenesco today and they are now producing a hot pot, namely their MPU2 model with stirrer that also has an optional digital temp control, with analog being standard, and a pressurized lid that needs to be hooked up to air pressure. There is a pouring hole so you don't need to remove the lid to add plastic. They calculate that at 15lbs pressure the pot will discharge 1oz per second. All yours with optional digital temp control for $2100.00 dollars. I left the comma out because it didn't seem as much money without the comma. As you can see I am starting already to rationalize the expense. They are shipping their first order for the pot next week. Hope we can get a report on how well it works. Pop
  21. Did you make your own swim bait molds? Pop

    Mold Problem

I think the venting issue might be the problem and the hook fits too well. One other thing has been going through my mind, that maybe I got a bad shipment of lead in the respect I didn't get what I ordered the last time. I am going to buy some more lead and see if that makes a difference. Thanks, Pop

    Mold Problem

OK, let me try to answer your post in the order it was written. I do use a RCBS Pro Melt Pot. I have tried temperatures up to 850 degrees. I pour in the garage which is attached to my home and it is insulated and heated. Working in my tee shirt. Perspiration is not a problem. My bench is not affected by ventilation air. The lead I use was purchased from Hanover Metal and is the purist soft lead you can find. I pour about 6-8 blank shots before pour with hook. Then poured about 15 with hooks without a good jig. I have tried holding the mold with the pot spout inside the sprue hold and every position imaginable. My plunger screw has been changed today several times. At the present time it is just at splashing. The mold is full to the top. I just think it might be the mold.
