  1. A few months ago I bould a couple hundred stainless chatterbait blades on ebay at a pretty good price. I need to buy more now, but I am not able to find them. Can anyone help me ID the ebay vendor? I think they were not in the US. I believe they were sold in lots of 50 pc. I would be thankful of any help. Stephen
  2. I have noticed that I seem to have more problems pouring lead in hot weather. I always thought it was coincidence, but... maybe not?
  3. I know it is counter intuitive, but more hardener actually makes it harden more slowly. I think heating the mold is more important than the formula shift. I find if I don´t have a hot mold, it hardens from the center out and the corners and points don't form well.
  4. I use this resin a lot. I find heating the RTV molds and mixing 55% hardener and 45% resin by weight allow for consistant pours. I preheat the molds on an electric skillet until just hot enough that I can still handle it, probably about 130F o so.
  5. What was the first company (bait) to use Pumpkinseed and Watermelon Seed colors? First I saw was Culprit in the late 80s but I don´t think they were the first.
  6. I have been using alumilite´s ALUMIRES (RC-3) TAN for a few years now, buy it by the galon Kit. They are out of stock and they do not have a restock date. I bought a galon Kit from Reynolds that works ok, but it is 30% more expensive ($130 vs $100). Are there any comparable (price abd performance) resins out there? Stephen
  7. You can add hardener to hot plastisol if you thin it with frresh plastisol and mix well before adding.I would also add a squirt of temp stabilizer when you do.
  8. I, as I am sure many others, got may start hand injecting with Bear´s products. Always fair and honest. I was helped personally my his generosity.
  9. I bet print-a-lure (facebook) could do that for you for a fraction. He does custom soft-plastic moldes for a coupld hundred $
  10. Anyone try using a 3d printing service rather than investing in the printer? if you are ony going to use them for masters, it seem that might make more sense.
  11. https://www.wgrz.com/article/money/business/texas-deep-freeze-causing-issues-for-western-new-york-manufacturing/71-847a2484-2440-4c98-873b-981dc7cd8b40
  12. Hate to contradict, but Worm Oil is not DOP. DOP is used to make Plastisol (along with a couple of other secondary plasticizors) but also in plastisol is a specific type of mineral oil that is compatible with the PVC resin.
  13. The Zoom shortage (and other large US operations) is due to COVID factory shut-downs and reductions. This raw material shortage is much more recent, related to refineries in Texas being shut down due the winter storm. Actually, prices for raw materials came down for a few months prior to this. My larger customers have all been complaining about back-orders with all fishing products except those coming directly from China. In Mexico, retailers have been venturing into private-labeling Chinese Products rather than importing from the USA in the last few months.
  14. Apparently it has to do with the Winter Storm in Texas. Production came off line for a couple weeks. I am told they should be back up and running in a couple of weeks.
  15. I make my own plastisol. I am starting to see shortages in a couple of the main ingredients. One in particular is completely out of stock with all of my suppliers. Anybody else having tis problem?
  16. I did a search here on TU and got some results but they were pretty old. Any lead on a good source for Clamshell Packeging by the 1000s? Preferably within the US.
  17. Generally, Hardener is just plastisol minus (or greatly reduced) plastisizers and a little more stabilizer. It is white because the PVC resin has still not been melted. It should turn transluscent (just like plastisol) once heated. You can add it before hating or afete it is hot. I find it easier to mix when added to hot plastisol. It is also possible to add powdered PCV directly to plastisol to make it harder if you can get your hands on it. You have to be careful not throw off the balance. My 2C.
  18. I think the Topic says what I am looking for.
  19. Looking for good heavy wire aberdeen 90 deg black nickel hook that won´t break the bank. Recomendations?
  20. I have been making soft plastic baits for 20 years. Never used a de-gasser. If you are heating in a micro-wave and are anal about micro bubbles, it probably makes sense. I find that heating 1-2 liters in presto pot and making mostly dark baits there is no need. It appears that heating from the bottom up and drawing plastic from the bottom makes bubbles irrelevant. my $0.02
  21. Has anyone tried automotive paints cut with DOP (softener)?
  22. Justa sayin. Heating in a pan is the answer.
