  1. Anybody on here have a 3-d printer they would be willing to hire out? I want to design a few things and have someone print them for me before making the investment myself.
  2. I take the normal wire cutters and file them down. They are super sharp and last forever.
  3. So, how do you make 'em?
  4. I would think you would have to put Flex Coat into the mix of most popular. I like it a lot, but that might be because I used if in rod making for several years.
  5. I have used Bondo for lead pouring molds with success, and I use industrial talk as a filler for ply resin as well. If you are making two part molds keep in mind that the greater the ratio of resin to filler, the more it will shrink when hardening and the less resistant it will be to heat.
  6. I have been mixing most of my colors locally (I sell to lure makers in Mexico). I buy pigments, cut, mix and bottle for resale along with other bait-making supplies. I only import a couple of colors. I can tell you that the most concentrated I have found have been from Bear. So if you are looking at bang for buck, he is the one.
  7. I have always wondered if it would be possible to tumble sand rough-cut lures in a bucket lined with sand paper and some silica sand. Anyone ever tried something like this?
  8. Yes. It look like a big Tube. But the plastic is much stronger than a bass tube.
  9. I wasn't sure where to post this question, but... Anybody know how to make skirts to go on trolling lure for Marlin?
  10. Easiest fix is is to get a ladle. Do-it has some good ones.
  11. I have been pouring lead for about 20 years. Never saw the use in fluxing. Unless I were experimenting with an unproven mold, I have only really found three variables: Temperature Composition of the lead Flow Voids are corrected by either increasing the temperature, using softer lead or opening the gate on the Lee pot/ switching to ladle.
  12. I made a hand pour mild a few years ago in which I mounted some finishing nails with a bead superglued on the head. I thi I put 4-5 in a 4" worm. This created cavities that held air really well. Try it.
  13. I have one of Dels with t screw on tip and thicker walls and I have a couple from Bear with the pop off tip and thin walls. I almost always only use Bear's. Dels is just too cumbersome to deal with and takes too long to warm up. About all it has going for it is that it is very tough.
  14. One suggestion I could offer is to use 500ml pyrex and only fill it half way. This makes pouring a thin stream much easier.
  15. What about an online 3D printing service for the model? Would that be cheaper than having a custom aluminum mold made?
  16. It will work just fine. I've done a few like that. just be sure to leave a good sized chamber for the plastic to shrink down while cooling. I would use PVC pipe and keep it for a hard shell. Put talc powder on the exterior foe easy removal of the mold from the pipe.
  17. I have used Galvanized wire for years. In Fresh water it will usually out last the lure.
  18. Small coins make good rattle ends.
  19. I would like to see more molds with slide bars to make colored tails. Injecting the tail separately and placing in a mold to inject again isn't very efficient. Why don't we see these more?
  20. The best top water color for bass... All Black.
  21. I have a manual press that can be fitted with a die. Wonder what it would take to make a set?

    Bsi Epoxy

    Where do you get BSI?
  23. Has anybody here actually tried to make bills out of some kind of epoxy? I made some out of clear poly resin. They worked but did chip pretty easily. I think an epoxy resin might be more adequate.
