  1. Next time you call them ask why they're not paying Federal Excise tax. These guys are just another scumbag under the table business taking away from people who do it legit.
  2. 2:40 there ya go...A tumble sander without the tumble.. Just need a motor, shaft, and a canvas bag..
  3. When I started building cnc machines people laughed. They made jokes of it and said it was a waste of time, that anything it put out was garbage sure it is as I tightened the horse blinders and stuck my middle finger in the air. I'm betting 12 years/9 machines later and umpteen thousand lures they're rethinking those comments
  4. So just in case someone is searching for this I pulled out the spectrometer printout. The sample I sent in has a 74.24% match to a product made by Bayer called Cellidor CP
  5. I sent some of that to a guy who put it through his machine and gave me the chemical compounds it's made of, and all the currently available commercial chemical names for it. It's readily available. There is a company in Somerset NJ who makes the stuff. I do not remember the name but google cellulose propionate you should find it.
  6. I have bsi on the site now in 4.5 and 9 oz bottle sizes
  7. Should be able to get a good used spincaster for about $6-800 and a Vulcanizer for about $1k
  8. Commenting on the crystalling of epoxy.. This is a normal thing. Put your epoxy into warm water and let sit for a while. All the crystals will disappear.
  9. Darn this thread was so disappointing with that title It gets tougher the older you get when you stand for 8-10 hours a day. For me it's plantar fascitis in my left foot I can't get rid of..and it's from being on my feet all day.
  10. There is nothing better out there than 100% prime smelly grade A deer arse
  11. And there lies the problem. You're paying the taxes for the guy doing it under the table. 2 years ago I split the excise out of all my components/lures and charge people what I'm required to pay for the tax for each item as a separate line item. Now everyone pays the excise for me. I was paying excise for guys who were selling cash. I said why pay someone elses taxes...the amount out there doing it is astronomical. People would send in orders for one item for $400 or more. Well beyond personal use. And excise out of my pocket not theirs. When you purchase components for resale you are supposed to present a 637 form and not pay the excise. You can't buy components and deduct the excise off the total amount you are required to pay on the final sale either. It's against the law. You either have to buy tax exempt and pay the tax on the item or lure when it's sold, or you pay the excise twice with no recourse, once when you buy the components and again when you sell a finished lure or item containing the components. The tax isn't just for components though it's all fishing products. The definition is on the irs website. If you buy components then sell a finished product the excise first has to be on the finished price or constructive sale price, or if you resell the components it's on the component because it's something to manufacture or increase the effectiveness of an actual lure.
  12. Cool magazine I skimmed it. Nice. Disappointed to see another scab site hawking the ability to sell non exciseable lures.
  13. ASA is a JOKE. They get paid by members for ONE thing. To LOBBY Washington. They don't have your interests at heart, they care more about the money than anything else. Any group that takes dues based on the income of your company is a sham. I refuse to join them or attend any shows that they profit off of.

    Tin Source

Pewter doesn't shine like tin and it oxidizes faster in water.
  15. Water dilutes the binder in paint. It doesn't dilute the color. If your paint is fading it's due to uv exposure. There are many colors of paint which are made with aniline dyes not pigment. These dyes are even more color sensitive. Chartreuse, pink, any bright or neon color like this is not uv stable. All need to be coated with a uv stable clear coat.
  16. You cannot sell a lure legally without first being registered for the sportfishing excise tax. Don't confuse a 1099 for INCOME tax purposes with EXCISE tax. It's not the same. Guy at the RI show this weekend selling $10 needlefish lures. I looked at him and said no way he's legit. I say "You got a 637 right?" DEER IN THE HEADLIGHTS. Then when I elaborated he "Oh ya I pay taxes" Sure you do selling $10 lures with laser etched holographic finishes that are only made in China...while you advertise these lures are made in the USA. I walked away laughing. I hope he gets bagged.
  17. Did you know pvc is smoother than wood? It paints easier. Doesn't need to be sealed. Saves time, Sorry I had to I consider any other lure but wood something that a heathen would use LOL
  18. Like I said before...I've always said one thing that works for one doesn't always work for another. I've seen it many many times. Someone could say to me they paint their lures with createx, 30 minute devcon, and seal with banana juice, They show you a lure they caught 1800 bluefish on without a scratch. The next guy tries to emulate it and his paint and topcoat falls off after his wife looked at it. A little exaggerated but you get the idea. So no I haven't bought any product since it first came out since I don't use it, but what was it reformulated for? First I've heard of it.
  19. kbs diamond finish. #1 thinner.
  20. Single dip and hang. Looks great for first few hours then leave for the day. Come back next morning and the lure is ruined, Full of bubbles. It collects at the bottom of every vertical surface just like any other liquid top coat. It gets an annular ring around the bottom that is 4-5x thicker than the rest of the lure. I've even tried wiping these thicker areas with a dry paint brush. It still collects more and thicker there and then the bubbles. Even if you thin it with their thinner it's the same thing. Like I said the stuff looks great, it's got a 94 or higher gloss. It just is unuseable unless they figure out how to remove the bubbling issue. I've talked with them numerous times. I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary that anyone else doesn't do. I've heard reports from many many people of this. Just can't use it in commercial building because ruining potentially hundreds of lures at a time is unacceptable. I've always said with fishing lure finishes that what works for one doesn't work for another and this is apparently another case of this if you say you don't have this bubbling issue.
  21. Done that too. Still bubbles.
  22. Aware of this. I've tried it at all times of the year with varying levels of humidity. It always bubbles somewhere. If you brush it thin and hang and there is any goobers where it collects you will get massive bubbles. If you rotate it you get massive bubbles. If you spray it you get massive bubbles.
