  1. For you fellas that have experience molding lures with the 16 lb foam, is the foam (once cured) strong enough to support screw eyes or do you have to use a through wire construction on the lures? Been wanting to try to foam molding method and would like to gather as much info as possible before I jump into it. Any and all help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
  2. Hey Rookie, I was lookin at some of your other pics posted here and noticed one that had a finished lure and an unfinised lure side by side. If im not mistaken the lures look like they come from a mold. What process and materials are you using to make your molds and pour the lures with? By the way, great lookin lures and fantastic paint jobs. Thanks.
  3. What do you guys recommend for a brush cleaner when using Devcon 2 ton epoxy as an overcoat?
  4. I posted a pic of some Balsa plugs that I have carved in the last week or so, my plan is to make molds of all these and cast them in Urethane. Included in the pic is an old Vamp body for size comparison and a Cherry plug I carved 3-4 years ago. (Found out Cherry is wayyyy to dense for lure making. ) All that is left to do now is gather the stuff Ill need for making the molds and gettin the 2 part Urethane to cast with. Also need to get some hardware for making some Prop style plugs out of a couple of the bodies shown. Hopefully Ill be able to find most of the stuff I need this coming weekend and get an order out to Smooth-On.
  5. Thanks fellas, I appreciate the help. I tried Janns but they dont have what Im lookin for....gonna check out the site redg8ter mentioned.
  6. Hi guys, need help on where to find metal lips for a couple reproductions im doing. The two plugs Im making recreations of are the Heddon Vamp and the Heddon Midget River Runt. Does anyone know if there are any suppliers out there that have vintage style lips? So far my searches have come up empty handed. Thanks for any help or suggestions.
  7. My name is Mike, I live in Indiana. Im 34 years old and work at a local hospital on second shift. Ive been fishing all my life and enjoy it thoroughly. I made my first wooden lure when I was about 12. It was ugly, didnt run straght and dint catch a single fish. (prolly scared the hell out a few though) But, that lure started a passion in me that until recently has laid dormant for lack of knowledge. Ive run across several sites lately that have answered many questions I had about making lures from Balsa and other materials. Hopefully soon I will have some pics to share.
