  1. damn those are nice! you did a fine job!
  2. Dear Abby: I have been so blessed in my life. Great parents, great wife and kids, great job, and great education. When I finally retired, I could hardly wait to spend time enjoying my favorite pastime -- bass fishing. I got my own little fishing boat and tried to get my wife to join me, but she just never liked fishing. Finally, one day at the Bait & Tackle Shop, I got to talking to Sam the shop owner who it turned out loves bass fishing as much as I do. We quickly became fishing buddies. As I said the wife doesn't care about fishing; she not only refuses to join us she always complains that I spend too much time fishing. A few weeks ago Sam and I had the best fishing trip ever. Not only did I catch the most beautiful bass you've ever seen, only a few minutes later Sam must have caught his twin brother! So I took a picture of Sam holding up the two nice bass that we caught and showed the picture to the wife hoping that maybe she'd get interested. Instead she says she doesn't want me to go fishing at all anymore! And she wants me to sell the boat! I think she just doesn't like to see me enjoying myself. What would you do? Tell the wife to forget it and continue my hobby or quit fishing and sell the boat as she insists? Thanks, A fisherman PS I have enclosed the picture of Sam showing off the bass we caught.

    Sealing Baits

Wow!! excellent idea! anyway you can post of pic of a lure you've done? thanks.
  4. Sweet lookin' bait! Is that a photo finish?
  5. bigbrown, best bet is the longer drying devcon 2 ton (30min or longer). the 5 min. devcon has a working time of only about a minute and you'll only end up with a big mess. i found some devcon 2 ton (30 min) at discountrocketry.com it's like $13 for 9 oz of each part a and b. hope this helps and even though you are anxious to finish the lure and clear coating it, I would wait until you get the longer drying epoxy. trust me on this it will be well worth it.
  6. That's the greatest feelin' in the world! Congrats!!! Know you got me hyped for the fishin' season! Going out fishin' this weekend, rain, snow, sleet, or shine!

sounds like a really good idea. i've made several dbait replicas using basswood and poplar but have yet to test 'em. gotta give your idea a try.

  9. I'm fairly new to lure making and haven't kept records of painting schemes/mixs but I think it's a great idea and I'll need to start recording my results.

    Help????

WOW!!! those are awesome! great job on the scales.
  11. Thanks Cody! The last dbait I did I used hook hanger and didn't have to deal with the screw eye in the belly thing but this time i wanna follow blackjacks instructions to the tee!
  12. Hello all! I'm trying to figure out what's the best way to attach a screw eye to a belly lead weight. What i tried was, I installed the belly weight then I covered the hole with wood putty sanded it down and I tried drilling a hole about where the belly hook hanger would be. I used a 1/32" drill bit and I had a heck of a time drilling into it. not to mention, when i tried using the brass screw eyes they broke on me Any info., suggestions, comments, would be appreciated.
  13. best glue would have to be the five minute Devcon 2 ton. You can find it at Ace, Walmart, Home Depot, etc.
  14. Bassnator, do you have the belly weight above the first hook? if so, how did you go about doing it? I'm currently doing some dbaits and i've installed the weights but can't figure out how to include the hook. Thanks.
  15. LOL!!! BassNator, I'm going through the same ordeal. I too, own the inexpensive split ring pliers and I've managed to the same things you mentioned. I could also use some help in this area! By the way, you lures look GREAT!!! Keep up the good work.
  16. really nice work. you certainly have the talent. look forward to seeing more of your work.
