  1. email me a price and the scents you have please
  2. I ordered one about 2 weeks ago. I'm waiting for it to arrive. I'll let you know how I like it.
  3. Nice bait Jim...you might have to send me a few of those. The coloring is excellent.
  4. I'd probably start laminating a pearl or dirty pearl belly with a watermelon back. If you can find the right paint or dye....use black to make a splotchy lateral line.
  5. The one thing about the dyes I've seen is that they bleed so you are likely going to apply to the bait on the line and not store baits already pre dipped. Unless this is a totally new concept.
  6. Frank, I will try that stuff, do you think it will work well for my application...just adding false eyes or dots? I'm not planning on shooting it through my air brush just yet.
  7. They are like a melted super ball. I had the bottles for about 6 months.
  8. I love to add little false eyes and blood spots to my own pours but I'm haivd a hard time finding a decent paint. I've used the Lurecraft paint but it sucks. I have about 5 bottles that are un opened but already dried out. Anyone suggest another brand?
  9. Here's a shad laminate I did recently-
  10. Chris, absolutely was my inspiration to getting into custom pouring and he has been downright helpful when I had questions. I would call him a mentor. Perhaps the coolest thing about this business is the fact that although each of us may be trying to run a business, we are all usually very hospitable and helpful towards each other. It has been very nice having Chris make comments on some of my baits over the years. He may not even know just how much he has helped me and I'd guess many of us out. In my opinion as far as colors go Chris is THE best out there. On a hand poured level, he is the Robo Worm of hand pouring. And that is a huge compliment. I hope he eventually gets back into this on some level. On a related note, there are a ton of his molds on eBay is anyone is looking.
  11. I have only had a problem with this mold when I attempt to pour too quickly.
  12. You really do not need a 2 pc mold for a chunk. They are predominantly flat on one side so you can utilize a 1pc and save some coin. I'm not sure if there even is a 2pc mold.
  13. I've had like swarms of misquitoes or white flies just commit mass suicude in my Pyrex pot. As long as it is a dark color, no problem.
  14. I've done this extensively on tube baits that I hand dip. To get started, get a 10" long 1/4" diameter steel rod. I fill a pyrex with plastic in the color I need and also fill another with clear. Dip the rod to your desired size, diameter in the colored Pyrex. When it cools enough to be worked on, stick on some adhesive 3D eyes. The glue on them will hold them in position long enough for you to re dip the bait in the clear which will laminate the eyes inside the bait permanantly. It really works nicely. I know I have photos, let me check out what I have and I'll post 'em up.
  15. Is the fine salt available in the supermarkets or is it a special order thing? And I don't know why I spelled regular incorrectly 3x in my first post. lol
  16. I'm pretty set in my ways as far as adding salt to my baits. I started using regualr ground up Morton table salt way back when and then moved on to flour and popcorn salts. I currently use Ozark super salt which is a flour type salt used in toothpaste as an abrasive. It isn't bad but it isn't perfect. In a pinch I'll go to the supermarket and use Salt Sense which is a low sodium salt, same grain as regualr salt but it performs much better than regualr salt when I pour. I've toyed with the idea of grinding clear rock salt, using feed or water purifier salt. Anybody find anything worth mentioning? I think I'm really going to start looking for a salt that is clear rather than white.
  17. Saint, you made me laugh twice. I was thinking HUH? myself although it is pretty interesting thought, I didn't do well with chemistry.
  18. Sorry to ask, I saw it the other day but can't remember where it was on here. I'm looking for the photo of the paint roller style tail cutter. If anyone can post it, much appreciated.
  19. Frank, I paid 92.00 last 5 gallons and 25.00 to ship. I guess it is comparable to most of the rest plus I think it is superior to LC and Calhouns.
  20. I started with Lurecraft but found that it separated and needed to be shaken often to be consistent. I then used Calhouns for several years and didn't have any problems. Finally I had issues with it bubbling so bad or being so inconsistent I stopped using it. I now use a plastic from Ozark tackle that has been great. It doesn't settle and doesn't smell like chemicals the way some of them do. I've written several books on pouring and do a ton of seminars and internet chats and I highly recommend it.
  21. Rocky, nice looking 'chovy. The color rivals Big Hammer. Anyway I have two suggestions...firstly, when I'm pouring saltwater baits, I never worry as to softness of the lure like i do with freshwater baits. IMHO, saltwater species are generally more aggressive and you know if they want the bait, softer plastic will not encourage strikes and as some guys said, they are very fragile. That said try one of these suggestions: 1-Go with a little hardener 2- Go with Calhouns Tube plastic mixed with regular soft pour, it is a stiffer, more durable plastic. It will give the bait more body but being mixed with the soft will prevent it from being hard as a rock. As long as you do not over do it, the tail should be fine as far as action goes. Hope this helps. I pour some 3 and 4" shad bodies and especially shrimp bodies for snook, trout, reds etc here in Florida and the mix has done well for the durability of the baits. I really don't use salt in my saltwater pours.
  22. Nova, as a former TX director for my club. I would have no problem with gummy worms being used. However, I can see the point of ire since they are technically a food product. That is pretty funny, I can imagine guys all upset about it.
  23. I sometimes put 3 drops of California Blue to give it that really deep purple color. I like a really dark purple but not black, you have to be able to see that deep rich purple when you hold it up to the light.
