  1. I agree with Jigmaster 100%...definately blackgrape with Grn flk.
  2. Thanks guys. Jim, have you poured any of those? I think I'm going to have to pick one of those molds up. Del has a bunch of molds I'm looking at. Tommy, way to go with the checks and the tanks. I'm having a hard time finding that salt we talked about. I will have several new El Gordo colors ready for fall. I'll give you a ring when I slow down a little.
  3. I was checking out your site and saw the flipping bait...2 cav, 2pc mold. Looks a little like an Ika with a beaver tail with assorted appendages.......how does the mold fill??? I mean, will we have trouble getting those little appendages fully molded? Does the plastic have to be super hot and will salt fubar it up? Thanks! I'm really interested in it.
  4. So um, I guess it is about 30.00 per bait then? lol Seriously, my equipment has been paid for many times over. So I can even calculate it into the equation. If you want to know what it costs you to pour a bait, adding salt and scent and color and glitter.....only those things, the raw materials. It should be relatively easy to figure out. I'll over estimate and say that each should be less than a dime. If you bought the 3000.00 machine, you blew the budget.
  5. Randy, I use the following recipe. 25 drops Lurecraft purple 4 drops black 4 drops California Blue 2 drops red If you want to make it more deep blue in color.....eliminate drops of black and add a drop or two extra of the California Blue. Of course green flake to preference.
  6. I pour the 3" from Bob's. This is a very good stick mold, likley the best out of any size I have. The diameter to length ratio is dead on.
  7. The only thing is, you need to make sure the paint will not react with the plastic. If it does, it could turn messy.
  8. Saint, noce job, add one drop of watermelon to ever so slightly darken it up and get the chartreuse to be less profound.
  9. Raising the temp of something to 350* in two to three minutes isn't fast enough for you? lol. I think the micro is the best method, just my opinion though. Quick easy, not messy and once you figure it out you won't make errors.
  10. It isn't a point of finding a new name. Like I said, the mushroom head is a type of head, just like a football head or a tube head. Does that mean that any one of us could trademark football head and prevent anyone from using it. I could see if it was Gopher head and they trade marked that but seriously, I think it is silly.
  11. I sell hair jigs in the colder months. Yesterday I got a letter from Gopher Tackle telling me I could no longer say my jigs were tied on mushroom heads. Mushroom is merely a style, like ball head, tube head, grass head etc. These heads are openly available in Stamina or Barlows and labeled as mushroom heads. Nowhere in my description is there a reference to Gopher tackle or this being a copy of a Gopher Tackle jig head. As a guy who pours soft plastics, I know about the 25% rule regarding modifying a bait at least 25% to be different from a lure that is patented. In this instance we are talking about hair jigs, not bulk mushroom heads. I'm not looking to start a war with Gopher tackle but I think their letter is silly. Any advice appreciated.
  12. I've written several eBooks on hand pouring and am putting the finishing touches on one about home tube dipping. It should be ready in about a month or so.
  13. OK, I see that. Kinda like a Hula Frog.
  14. While it does look cool, does it not defeat the purpose of what the frog is really supposed to do on top of the water? I don't think the skirt will matter on a relatively fast moving bait it might even decrease the weedless value of the frog. Like I said though it looks cool but I like the practicality of the skirted Beaver better than this one.
  15. I've been using the plastic for a few months, I've gone through about 20 gallons and I think it is the best stuff I've ever used so far.
  16. I use 8oz plastic, 25 drops purple, 4 drops black and 3 drops of california blue. The blue color gives this the deep dark purple hue.
  17. Your plastic is too hot. You should be able to accomplish a standard double dip tube with little effort. Allow the plastic to cool a bit and each dip will provide a larger diameter of plastic
  18. Take a look at Ozark Tackle. They make a very good plastic that I use over everything now.
  19. I know people are looking for alternatives to salt. The salt is a twofold product for plastics. It adds weight and it excellent for bait retention. You don't get that with glass, sand and sugar. Why not experiment and find the "right" salt rather than go with potentially harmful materials? Viper....that's funny "S"!
  20. Homer, I believe the whole Perry story is a fabrication. There are so many untruths and inconsistancies to his story that it makes you wonder. People say he got nothing and had no motivation to lie but for a guy described as dirt poor, a few baits and the 75.00 contest winnings was a lot. I've researched the story a ton and the only conclusion I see is that this a fraud. Creek Chub Wiggle Fish, Creek Chub Shiner and an other bait were claimed by Perry to have caught the fish. No photo of Perry holding the fish, no proof of the "witness" true identity was ever found, an extortion letter to Creek Chub by Perry, the record submitted after the fish was eaten, make for an interesting tale.
  21. I would like to try Upper Hand if they make an oil based scent I can actually cook into my plastic.
  22. This isn't necessarily on the same line as this post is going but didn't someone on this site pour beaver baits for Bass Assassin? I mean, the mold was the same 1pc that we were all using the last couple of years. I might be wrong but I thought a member from here was pouring for them.
  23. What were the temps outside the micro. When I lived in NY, I poured in my basement and had 2 blow up because air temp was quite cool. Now I live in Fl. and this doesn't seem to be a problem. Glad you were wearing goggles.
