  1. I avoid this by melting the plastic first then mixing in the flake when it is ready to pour. This prevents arcing and discoloring if the flake happens to melt of give off pigment when heated to super high temps. I'm usually melting a pint at a time.
  2. If I hear anything, I'll let you guys know.
  3. I'm a little biased because I am on Kistler's regional Pro Staff but I got aclimated to the rods for a year before I jopined up. Simply put, they are the best rods I've ever used and that is why I got involved with the company in the first place. I know Matt from R/S and respect his opinions. I don't care who is making Kistler's blanks, I just know they fish better than my Loomis models...which I've since sold off.
  4. Nice story, I can relate, I live in Shirley and fish there as well.
  5. What would it cost to get into injection molding? I think I saw the centrifugal spinner for like 12K. Also can you duplicate hand poured colors with it? I've never seen a green weenie chart tail Zoom bait, so I imagine you can't. I'd be interested though in learning more about it. I guess it is more for a business operation rather than a guy who pours for recreation.
  6. I don't know about injection being the real deal Gordon. There's a big reason why all of us guys got into hand pours and my reason was that I didn't like what I saw in the injection molded baits. I wouldn't mind a set up like GY's though.
  7. I've used LC salt that I ran through a blender and powderized. It does make the baits turn frosty. Question then, how does Yamamoto do it? Will a purer salt be less apt to turn color?
  8. I've been using popcorn salt with good results but it definately bleaches the color a bit. I'm looking for a fine flake salt that melts clear orwon't change the coor of my plastic. Someone told me there is a feed salt like this but couldn't give me the complete name. Anyone have a salt I should check into and where to get it?
  9. I'm looking for about 200ct in 1/16oz that I can put a skirt on like a mini jig n pig. I would prefer really good hooks like Blk nkl Mustads or Gammies.
  10. I use Kick N Bass exclusively and have not noticed any color change. I will admit that in the past with other brands I have. When I pour a light color, I tend to add scent to the bag rather than cook it in.
  11. Thanks for the compliments guys. The hair jig is in fact a rabbit jig that Hair tying Guru Phil Schafer taught me how to tie when I visited him in Missouri two years ago. What a sweet little jig it is. The heads I use are always powder coated. I'm not sure of the Football head mold#, it is custom. Gamakatsu Blk nkl hooks are my standard. Thanks again, I enjoyed the swap and can't wait until we do it again. Nice photos by the way.
  12. I lost my source supplier for some light tackle weedless jig heads. I'm looking for a sparkie or weedless jig n pig type head not an arkie, with a twisted wire weedguard(Single) on a blk nkl mustad needle point 2/0 in 1/16oz, 1/8oz and 3/16oz painted black powder paint preferably. If you could get a flat eye hook, that would be great as well. I'm looking for a couple of hundred. I suppose I could use a fiber weedguard if it is easier for you. email me if interested.
  13. I was very impressed with those little spinners DE. I'm almost afraid to fish them. If they smack a rock, will damage result? They look like the are made or glass. I might just put them in a show case as well. They are just too pretty.
  14. Got mine today. I'm impressed with everyone's work. Nice job, some great innovations. One thing I didn't expect but was really happy to see.........jigging spoons! Awesome. When are we doing another one?
  15. Might be easier and more cost efficient for qty's to use printshop or printmaster and design your own on a CD or DVD sized label. They do have waterproof ink now.
  16. If you have room, I'll join up too!
  17. Guys, Chris is without a doubt one of the most skilled hand pourers I know of and I've been using hand poured baits for a long, long time. A good al around guy who can make just about anything.
  18. Just wanted to extend my gratitude to Al's Worms and Tantrum Baits for their generous contributions to my charity tournament. I really appreciate it guys. I will be sending you guys a care package as well. Thanks again!
  19. Anyone interested in helping out can send their products to: Micro Munch Tackle 15 Elm Pl. Mastic NY 11950 Remember, I will be sending you some stuff back as a thank you. I recomend that anyone who does send me baits, make sure you have a label on the package so guys can contact you.
