  1. I use a ton of LC Garlic and I can tell you it does not cook out. Perhaos if you are adding it to a cold pot, it may but I put it is just before pouring. Many of the waterbased scents cook out almost immediately. You can also add scent to cooled worms. It is amazing to see the scent retention of a poured bait. As they cool, they literally suck the scent up.
  2. My vote is that the tail is too thick. Add some plaster to the tail to decrease the oveall size of it or make a new mold. This is a spade tail bait, not a paddle tail....right. Chances are that you won't get too much movement with this type of tail, it is more for vibration and slight movement.
  3. It is garbage. It is a simple glue gun that is supposed to make adding dots and stripes easy. Well it is very inconsistent. I have one I'd be willing to part with cheap, if you need to try it out.
  4. you can't do it too quickly or the hot liquid colors will blend into each other. I let the bottom color sit just a hair so it starts to cool. Then I add the top color. They won't bleed or mix that way.
  5. Chris, I was going through some of my baits recently and came across a 50ct bag of 4" finesse worms in your color called Goldbar. Now, I love this color and I understand if you won't give it up but please, please please let me know how you did it. I'm itching to pour a senko in this color.......maybe I'll have to order a few from you.
  6. Thanks Guys, It seems like a ton of work for a small production. Guess I'll stick to Mizmos. I sometimes simply dip a small steel rod to make a few tubes. It works but like I said, production is small and timely. For just making a few tubes to fish, it works ok.
  7. I've done it on rods. Buy I can only make a few at a time. They work great but I don't see how one could get into hand dipped tubes without it being a huge operation....any ideas. I'm looking to make enough baits for myself...I would like to be able to make 50 at a time without spending hours doing it.
  8. Luke, put the salt in just before you pour. As you stir it in go with the flake. I had a similiar problem when I wanted to add scent to my pot of watermielon...it would discolor and turn yellowy on me. I have since added scent just before pouring. Cut down on the heat stabilizer by half.
  9. God Bless Chris, hope everything works out smoothly for you and the family!
  10. I was told to avoid baby oil or mineral oil. It tends to suck the chemicals out of plastic that make them soft and pliable. This I assume happens over time. I've never experimented though. I use scent rather than worm oil. It keeps baits soft and slippery.
  11. Is it nec. to insert them into hot plastic? Why not wait until the plastic cools and simply slip them in the way everybody does when they are fishing? If you wanted to do it with hot plastic, I know a way to do it with a standard one pc. mold. Pour the top of the bait and let it sit so the plastic starts to cool. Place the rattle in the mold so that it does not fall through the first layer...obviously it must be cooled enough for you to do this. Then simply fill up the mold. I'm not so sure you can do it consistently with a two pc. mold.
  12. Luke, those are great fish so far North! Congrats, there is nothing like the feeling of catching a really big fish on a bait you made yourself.
  13. That is one bait that is just not cost effective to handpour. Too much work put in to a small amount of baits.
  14. They will never replace traditional plastics....never!
  15. Why don't you weigh out 1 oz of water and count the drops? Seems logical it should weigh roughly the same. Glitter, I have no idea...buy bulk to save money if you are considering making this a business, you will need to have a lot on hand.
  16. Buy popcorn salt....I got that from Chris...it worked and saves blender blades.
  17. Just testing to see if this works
  18. That is a pretty bait. I make some good ones too. I like the holo blades.
  19. Maybe I'm just lucky but I've been pouring a ton of pearl slug go type baits for the SW crowd in my locale. No problems with burnt plastic yet....keeping my fingers crossed.
  20. Frank, they are on my site....green roadkill and copper melon
