Luke, is the plastic burung or is it being dicolored by the addition of scent. You have to be really careful when scenting light colors. They are prone to changing color.
Chris, I've heard you talking about it, were can I check it out? Is it in your opinion better than LC and MF? What is the price per 5 gallon bucket? I'm looking for saomething I don't have to mix as thouroughly as LC
You scorched the plastic if you can't get rid of the plastic chemical smell. Clean out the pot and do it over. I trash the scorched baits, I won't fish them....although I don't burn them anymore.
Not sure of the name of the paint but it does work. I don't know if Johnson ewtc. is using it on Beetlespins but I know exactly what your talking about. Chris, this would look killer on those tadpole looking dropshot baits of yours with the protruding eyes. On man, I'm gonna have to get some now from you!
Pop, I;m keeping it small, almost a full pot on the Lee pouring machine. 6oz I guess. You can add about 4 or 5 drops of black to it if you want to make it a tiny bit darker. You can also sub Rootbeer for the watermelon to make it brownish...also hot for smallmouth.
I'd like to know how to pour Erie Green. Anyone know?
I use a bit of LC garlic in my baits. I like it but want it in bulk. I can buy wholesale but don't know of a dist. that has this in large quantities. I also like Bang to spray on my baits when fishing. I've tried the natural valley farms garlic but there is way too much water in it. Any ideas or suggestions?
I just realized a similiar post might have been put up in the past. My appologies if this is a repeat. I hope you guys just go with it. You don't have to give up your secret moneymaker, I thought it would be cool for those of us with less of an imagination and even less pouring skill to get some ideas.
Now that I have to try Tubeman! It sounds hot! I pour violet hi lite with either a smidge of watermelon or purple to get a fantastic rainbow trout. I also add either green or blue flake to it.
I thought it would be cool if we listed a unique color we pour and the recipe for it.
Mine is called Green Roadkill-One teaspoon of Pearl white(powder)
25 drops watermelon
25 drops green pumpkin
The end result is an olive drab green with pearlescent highlite flake. Wicked smallmouth color.
Guys remember that Chris is pouring insane amounts of plastic. His system was made to handle large quantities. I pour less frequently although I do pour for my business. I prefer to add softener and heat stabilizer per pot. This way I can really measure it accurately.
I have and I can tell you that you would be better off doing the silicone mold thingy that was demonstrated by Gator. This stuff is too expensive and the results don't justify the price.
You can't get it done with $10.00
You need too many colors.
Black
Purple
Red
Green
Gold
Silver
and then purple strand.........too many choices. To few will limit what you can do.
I pour the five gallon bucket into five 1 gallon containers. This way mixing is easy. That syrupy gak on the bottom is your hardener, if you fail to mix it, you won't have consistent pours and in the end, it will burn up on you.
It was likely too hot and started boiling. At times if you use scent, when added, scents that contain water will bubble. this is merely the water burning off.
Way to go Frank. I just had a giant breakthrough with a homemade two piece mold for Senko's as well. I can't tell the difference. I changed the plastic and the salt and everything got easier. more consistent too.
