  1. You may need to hold some pressure after the second shoot and overfill to allow for shrinkage.
  2. When I make under spins I cover the swivels with heat shrink tubing. It needs to come off before it gets cold or it becomes a pain. The dollar assorted packs from Harbor Freight always have one size that is perfect.
  3. A couple of things to consider, try a piece of duct tape on the hook slot to see if that will hold it in place, ( I have to do that on some custom wire weed guards) and get you some Frankfort Arsenal Dropout spray. It is way better and lasts longer than smoking.
  4. I don’t know what they use. I spray mine with chrome paint.
  5. I get them at Barlows.
  6. You might try filling it up, quickly emptying it back in the container, fill it up again and see how it goes.
  7. Can you sell me a hundred?  I only use them in one place at Table Rock.

I checked my stock and I only have (15) 1/0, 2/0 and 3/0. I found the best place to buy them is at Lure Parts On Line, or you can try Shorty's. I know they sell 100 packs of hooks as well.

      Take Care.................Ted

  8. Ted I hope this is enough info. I apologize for the sloppy writing. I had hand surgery a couple of weeks ago and it is still a work in progress. The top hook is the one I am looking for. The bottom is a 570 for comparison. The only size I use in this hook is a 2/0.
  9. Ok I will have a closer look and add a pic with more info.
  10. A few years ago one of my friends quit bass fishing and became a crappie guy. I bought all of his hooks. Most were in 1000 count boxes. However there was a zip lock bag with some brass colored 90° jig hooks in 2/0. They are a little larger than an Eagle Claw 570 and a lot stronger. They are good for shaky in laydowns and brush piles. I am seriously running low and don’t have any idea what to order. Any thoughts?
  11. The vice has been my best and easiest way.
  12. Shorty’s for bulk. Mostly it is a 1000 hook minimum per size. They own Captain Hooks.
  13. I put mine in a baking pan of cold water. When they are cool, I put them on a clean bath towel to dry.
  14. Take time to read don’ts for newbies. It will shorten the learning curve save you time and maybe prevent personal injury.
  15. A handy guy like you Mark, should be able to get some sheet metal and make your own. A friend of mine did that when the baits first came out. He got the metal from McMaster-Carr.
  16. Don’t do it in the house. Get a hot plate or cheap microwave. Have dedicated pans or Pyrex cups. Mixing colors winds up being brown much of the time.
  17. If it breaks when you bend it, it is not soft lead.
  18. I lost a pin out of a mold. I called Lurecraft and asked what size pin I would need to get. The nice lady looked me up on her computer and said she would mail me one.
  19. Over the years some of mine have gone missing. I have cobbled up crude replacements but would like to get some regular ones for a better fit. Anyone have a source?
  20. A friend used to remodel hospitals. He got sheets from Xray rooms. I broke off the dry wall then used my fish cooker and a cast iron pot (outside) to melt it down and burn off the gunk. I poured it into ingots. It was really soft lead.
  21. Yep that thought crossed my mind also.
  22. Hey thanks for all the conversation. This has convinced me to look for cnc molds.
