  1. Sounds like too much colorant to me. I'd do another batch and only add a few drops at a time to see how it looks.
  2. I believe you can find different sizes of blades at Barlow's. I think they call them shakey blades or something like that.

    Tube Molds

I'd like to see some pics of that when you get it.
  4. The one I like best is the Trokar swim jig. You can use old spinnerbaits if you don't have a mold.
  5. I like powder paint on lead. If I want glitter I just buy clear nail polish that has glitter in it. Also there is not need to seal up the paint if you powder coat then bake the lead. But if you are talking about bucktail baits you will have to paint and bake before you put the bucktail on.
  6. The word dye may be causing your problem. Colorant is the term that will probably get you better results. Go to Lurecraft or Jann's netcraft and you can see many choices. Look at the plastic cook book here on this site and it will give you a lot of good recipes. Being new you might learn a few things from Don'ts for Newbies also on this site.

    Real Eyes

And here I was wanting to see what kind of critters you were taking the eyes from.
  8. That is invisible green and invisible orange as far as I can see. A pic would make it a lot easier.
  9. I use a coat hanger made into an L with the bottom being doubled and about a 1" gap. It has been working for about 20 years.
  10. I get gallon jugs with wide mouths.
  11. 2. You may be injectint too fast. 4. Mix slowly and bubbles will be reduced. 5. I heat my molds and injectors on a hot plate with a piece of metal on top of it.
  12. I mix it up then use a smaller container to dip it out and pour through a funnel to a gallon jug.

    pouring pot

X2 I love my RCBS. My old Lee is on a shelf some where. It is only used for specialty pours.

    Tube Molds

That is the style that I got from Bear. I really like how easy they work.

I have done it both ways. Cutting is for the birds. I like to shoot them with the skirts made. I started out with 2 single cavity molds but that was not enough so I bought 2 more. 4 is barely enough and I am only making for myself. A multi cavity mold or 2 would be nice.
  16. I use Bondo fiberglass resin. Mix it up/brush it on/let it dry/done.
  17. I thought it might be something like that. I am working on a "triple" spin mold and am checking out all of the new ideas that I see.
  18. Look good to me. How did you form the round head?
  19. What I do with my plastisol is take a wire coat hanger, I open it all the way up and cut off the ends where it has been wound. I make a bend about 6 inches long and bring it back to the main wire. Then I take the main wire and make a 90° bend. That creates an L shaped wire with a double wire on the bottom. I put it in a drill and place it in the bottle and turn on the drill. It can be used to scrape the bottom and sides and does a heck of a mixing job. I keep it right beside the plastisol jugs so it will always be handy.
  20. For FnF I don't use anything but 1/16 oz and a #2 hook. That would also work for the 1/8 oz. I'd go bigger for the 1/4 but I don't know how you would do FnF with 1/4 oz jig.
