  1. I made mine several years ago with the regular 2 part JB (black and gray). I don't put mine in the microwave. I heat 2 colors then pour them into the divided cup which I keep warm on a hot plate.
  2. If you have a soldering iron, try melting just the tip of the bait then see if it will glue on or maybe cut a sliver off the end to get to clean material.
  3. I mix it often to get custom colors. All you need is red, yellow, and blue you can make most anything.
  4. I don't know anything about their wire except it sure won't keep its shape. I checked one of mine and the hook gap matches 4/0 hooks that I have in the shop.
  5. I keep them in the original container be it cardboard or plastic. I have hooks that have been in the garage for over 10 years. I've never had rust problems and we get pretty humid in the summer.
  6. I make a lot of tubes with Calhoun's Medium. Heat stabilizer is used for reheats. It is especially important for light colors.
  7. I keep a vile of cooking oil on the work bench at all times. I lube anything to do with making baits with it (both plastic and wire baits).
  8. I found a phone # on their face book account. It doesn't work.
  9. I'm interested in seeing a pic of it Les.
  10. I haven't bought from them. They have a mold that I like but it looks like their web site hasn't seen any updates/use in over 6 months. Are they up and running and taking orders?
  11. This is the one I have been thinking about. https://www.btsmolds.com/hogs/6-flippin-hog-mold
  12. Correct me if I am wrong. Isn't this the baby brush hog?
  13. I was given several dozen pkgs of brush hogs a few years ago. I'm starting to run a bit low and have been looking for a mold. I'm not having very good luck finding what I want. I'm not wanting the baby brush hog. The best I have seen so far is the BTS flippin hog. What else is out there?
  14. Short bursts of heat in the 20-30 second length along with smaller batches and heat stabilizer is all that even has a chance for me along with white.
  15. I have an old wire clothes hanger made into an L with a loop at the bottom. I stick it in the bucket or jug and turn on the drill.
  16. I make my own with blue and yellow. I mix it till it looks the way I want it.
  17. Yep I have to take my O rings off and clean them. I keep a bottle of cooking oil on the work bench. Before I start shooting I dip the plunger into the oil to lube the piston and ring.

    I got mine from Cadman.
  19. I use 20 ga galvanized wire from Lowe's to make bait keepers.
  20. Frank you are probably right. I put vents in the plate and shot the one side. 7 of the 8 came out good. Shooting the other side had mixed results. I will have to experiment with some different colors before I decide to give up on the plate.
  21. Thanks for the ideas. I'll put some vents in the plate and try some scrap plastic later today when the temps get around 30° outside.
  22. Here are pics of the mold and plate.
  23. Yes it is the same always (all of them) that don't fill. The body fills and 1/2 of the tails. The plate is just a piece of aluminum flashing cut to fit the mold. That is what I have used for my other molds. I don't have any pics right now. I'll have to heat up some plastic tomorrow and do some shoots.
  24. I've been experimenting with my mold. It is a 4 cavity mold from Lurecraft. It shoots great. I used my two injectors with my blending block to shoot laminates. It did a pretty good job but when shooting the 2 colors blended together (not swirled) giving me unusual tail coloring. I'm wanting to keep the 2 colors completely separate from each other so I made a lamination plate. I spent some time trying to shoot some halves today. I preheated the mold, lamination plate, and injectors. I tried different temps of plastisol. I tried different speeds and pressures while injecting. I even lubricated the mold and plate. The end result was 1 half completely shot. All the rest had incomplete tails. Do you think I should wait and try it again in summer? Or is there a slickum that might work for me?
  25. Boy I wish I could give you an answer to that one but I haven't bought a finished jig in over 20 years.
